Around home (where I actually know people), I wouldn't be caught dead wearing socks with my Crocs.
However, I don't know anyone in Florida, and I have no need to be embarrassed. Since the little "nubbies" bother me sometimes, I will probably wear socks.
Or, maybe I'll just wear my Chaco sandals (minus socks). Those are actually more comfy than my Crocs.
Lately DS (3) will only wear his croc's with socks. He wore them for about 1/2 of summer and then whammo...his first blister and it was a doozy. So, we do socks with croc's.
I will say that the other kids his age that I have noticed DON'T wear socks. I do know that his cousin, my niece, also got a big blister about 1/2-way into summer in her crocs too.
I myself wear the croc's flip flops. I do do do love them. No blisters either. I have quite the croc's flip flop tan on my feet from them.

Wow close call
When Im out for the day.. Crocs with Socks are a Must.
If its just running to the store for 20 min and they are there, and socks arent on my feet then its no socks
The whole point of wearing Crocs is so that moisture will
evaporate when your feet get wet. If you wear Socks
you are defeating that purpose. If your crocs fit correctly
you shouldn't have a problem with blisters. I always apply
chaffing gel/powder to my feet before wearing--it's like a
barrier.
If you have foot problems there are Crox RX with extra
soft and thicker soles for people who are prone to getting
sores on there feet--like people with diabetes.
I'm pro CROCS with socks. I wore them every day after backpacking in New Mexico (Philmont) and they gave great relief to my sore feet. Since my return I've worn them both with and with out socks. If it's rainy or dusty I don't wear socks if its dry I do. They even sell croc socks now!!
No, No No socks with crocs....unless they are the winter (lined crocs). As the OP said...crocs were not designed to be worn with socks. If you visit the croc website they will explain the proper croc fit, to avoid rubbing. The original beach or cayman crocs were meant to be worn very loose.....no parts of the foot touching any sides.
When we go to WDW it is usually so hot....I would avoid my crocs all together if I had to wear socks.
Next month when we going to WDW, I will pack my Mickey crocs and my Alice crocs and then several pair of Teva Mush flip flops.....but no tennis shoes or socks.
I even convinced my DH ( a die-hard tennis shoe person) to take Teva mush sandals along.
I have about 8-10 pairs of crocs and teach in them often. I've never worn socks! I had one green pair that had sharper little bumps, so I did consider it that one time. However, for me, Crocs are better for standing (like working all day) than for walking, so I'm not sure I'd wear them for a long day at the world. I guess I'd try them if I knew I was coming back to the resort in the middle of the day. I messed up my knee hiking in worn out crocs all over the Hall of Fame in Canton earlier this month, and I'm still trying to heal my knee. I learned another lesson, buy new Skins crocs when they get worn out!
These Crocs with socks,
These Crocs with socks,
I do so like my Crocs with socks.
Yes, though the fashionista mocks,
I do wear socks inside my Crocs;
Without them, my feet get a pox.
(or are those merely blisters?)
