To ride...or not to ride? (R&R that is.)

I -hate- hights. And I mean -hate-. But oddly enough I love TT and Primevil Wirl (Primevil Wirl has kinda long drops for me). But my mother and farther both keep telling me how much they think I would like it and how much they wish I would go on it with them. Not trying to force me just saying. I've been told how smooth R&R is. How fast it is that's it's in the dark. How loud and freakin awsome the music is (the louder my music the better). My biggest hang up is the whole turning upside down thing. That thought just kinda freaks me out.

We have a trip coming up shortly and i've been thinking about it. I know that if I ride it once and I don't like I never have to ride it again. But I would really hate to freak out on the ride. There are alot of pros and cons in my mind at this point. So my question to you all is.

Givin what little info i've given you all. Would I make it on R&R? If you thought you weren't going to like it and rode it and found out you loved it. What did it for you? Thanks in advance. :)

Well, after reading all the news reports of people having heart failure, strokes, seizures and bodily fluid leakage, I'd advise you to remain at least 100 feet away from the enterance.

Ride it !! You'll survive. Not only survive, bu it may become one of your favorite all time rides.

Or we'll just read about you in the Orlando Sentinal........

I also am afraid of heights and I am pertified of Primeval Whirl and I LOVE RnR. LOVE IT. The first loop happens so fast. It's more of a rush. I laugh everytime. If you can handle feeling like you are suspended out in mid-air on Primeval Whirl you have got to try RnR. It is not Space Mountain dark. I concur the music is "freakin awesome".

When you ride RnRR, ride up front. You get to see everything and the wind blows your hair back.

Once you have driven the limo, there's no more riding in the back.... :moped:

I too am deathly afraid of heights and i LOVE RnR!!! It's in the dark, so you can't tell how far above the ground you are, and the loop happens right after "take off", so you're so pumped about the zero to sixty, you hardly notice the loop! I too laugh through the whole ride, when I'm not singing on the top of my lungs!!! :cool1: I say go for it, if you don't like it, you never have to ride it again! But I bet you enjoy it!! :wave2:

You have to try it at least once...

It's short enough that if you are freaking out, you'll survive... if you love it, you'll be back for more.

Go for it. It's one of our favorites... :rotfl:

RnR doesn't involve heights. It's all in the dark, so you don't even see the bottom. There's no "lift hill" like regular roller coasters. If you look at the outside of the building, you'll see it's not that high. It does go upside down 3 times but it's so fast you don't really feel it. I love RnR, probably my favorite WDW ride, with ToT a close second.

My 7yo has ridden both TofT and RnR. She said she'll never ride TofT again but RnR has become one of her favorite rides.

It's not like Hulk or Dueling Dragons at Islands of Adventure.

the three of us LOVE this ride
When DS first rode it (2002?), while in line he asked us if it goes upside down - we didnt answer him. We had grabbed fastpasses before we got in the standby line. Once we got out he asked if we could grab another set of fastpasses because he wanted to ride again and again and again.
Yup its 1 of our favorites

In 2001 DH & I grabbed fastpasses before dinner at H&V. DH went back to the room for his cigarettes after dinner. I was looking at 2 FPs that couldnt go to waste so I took his ride too!

I agree with others that the height thing is not an issue for R&R. As long as you enjoy rollercoasters (very fast), you should enjoy it. Personally as I have gotten older, I no longer enjoy rollercoasters. However, my dh and ds(12) absolutely love this ride. Two years ago, my son finally convinced me to try it and I did. However, I unfortunately was scared out of my mind. I kept screaming never again, never again. The upside down part is fine, you really do not notice, but the whole ride is just really FAST. That bothered me. With that said, I think since you enjoy T&T and Primevil Whirl, I think you will enjoy the "thrill" of R&R. I must add I also do not do TT anymore, although a few years back I did it a few times. Go figure, it sounds like I have become a whimp compared to others here (in my "old" age). HA!!

Give it a try. I think you will enjoy it as long as you like FAST and dark roller coasters. Many people LOVE it!!

Do it. There is absolutely know feelings of height involved at all. The corkscrew roll is over so fast you barely realize it's happening.

I have to agree with everyone here and say try it. My first trip "home" was my first R&R ride. The take off is the scariest, but it's over very quick. The whole ride is only about 2min. so even if you're terrified, it's over soon :teeth: It's a bit scary for me, so I wouldn't ride it alone, but if a friend wanted to ride it, I'd go. Have fun!

Ride R&R you won't even know how high up you are it is all inthe dark and darker than Space Mpountain.

we love this ride! DD's been riding it since she was 6, and was nervous at first :scared: , but just closed her eyes the whole time and it went by so fast she didn't have time to be scared! Then the next time, she decided to try it eyes open :earseek: ! It's not really a height thing, it's more speed and curves . You go so fast, you hardely realized you flipped upside down. IMHO, it's a must do. :thewave:

p.s. DD is a daredevil, been riding ToT since 4 or 5 years old...

The first time on it I was most nervous waiting in the line. As soon as it stopped I said let's go again. It is my favorite ride next to the water sprites on bay lake and I don't like heights (more than 3 stairs with open backs etc and i'm done). I freeze going through The Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse but I love R&R. Do it at least once. It's a ride for all ages - I'll be 62 next month and can't wait for the next trip to WDW. Do plan to miss mulholland madness in California in July- now that's scary and herky jerky.

I've never done RnRollercoaster, nor ToT....I have a very simple test as to if I'd like a ride, if it does things I'd not want the aircraft taking me to Orlando to do, I won't ride them.

If my flight was like TMRR or SM, or even Space Mtn - that wouldn't bother me - but if a "ride" includes going upside down, or big drops - I'm not interested!

I love the FAST takeoff, but I HATE the twists and turns - it actually gives me a headache because my head bangs around.... Maybe I'm just getting old!

I LOVE ToT, though :)

Feelin the love there Plus. Thanks man. ;) puckerup:

I love anything fast jerky (or smooth depending on the ride) exciting and in the dark is the best. So it sounds like I would love RnR. The -only- hang up I still have is the whole upside down thing. I've been on one roller coaster were I was turned upside down. That was at DQ where you make your own. I put in two barrel rolls after getting over the shock of the first one I loved the second one.

Alright i'll do it....I think. :teeth:

From someone who is not that crazy about rollercoasters, I love RnR. I avoid Space Mt & Runaway Train, but will do RnR two or three times.

Having spent time in LA, it is way too similiar to driving the freeways :rotfl2: - just watch that cut-off to the I-5 :earseek:
