To rent or not to rent car during stay

Trying to figure out what to do during our stay. We are just doing a short stay at disney. 3 nights, 1 day at the park, but we are planning on 3 character meals during the other days and the campfire. The more I think about it, I think we would be happier if we rented a car during that time. I know that staying on site and using the bus system can take up a lot of your time. I just thought it would be worth the extra $65 to have our own car and go at our own leisure.

From your all's experiences would you reccomend using the free transportation from disney and spending hours on the bus or would you think it would be the little extra money?

Please keep in mind that we are staying at the all star movies resort during the busy summer time.

We always rent a car even when staying on property - short or long stay. Gives us flexibility that we need. One time did not rent and felt constrained.
