We always RD. We also have gone and will once again be going during the busiest time of the year - 12/21 through 12/27 to be exact. We have had great success during this time between RD and EMH. We know it will be beyond crowded. We plan to RD most days of our trip BUT….

Question - I made my ADRs this morning and was pleasantly surprised at everything I was able to book. The 26th is a bonus* day for us and I was able to get a 5:15 PM ADR at BOG (we also have one for Christmas eve but not until 9:15 PM) Am I crazy to think about NOT RDing and sleeping in this day and just enjoy dinner and several FP+ rides after our dinner? We probably wouldn't get to the parks until 4 PM ish. Also, any concern about getting into the park at 4 PM if there are some closures because of capacity? - I know there are staged closures so I was hoping that by 4 PM with an ADR we would be OK. (We also have a lunch scheduled at BOG for the 26th - so we still could RD and do lunch and then head out - and don't worry when we decide what we are going to do I will post any cancellations on the boards!)

(*Bonus means we have already been to each park and done what are our musts. We like to have at least one or two extra bonus park days to go back and ride a few of our favorites again)

If we haven't slept in at least once by our 4th rope drop, we start to turn into zombies. (our 2011 trip) Being that you've already done RD at each park before that, it would be a perfect chance to get your energy back.

I agree with Dan. Drop that lunch ADR and enjoy the evening after sleeping in. You could even put in some pool time if the weather permits.

Going Christmas week I think you need to rope drop or be close to rope drop time to avoid the heavier crowds and potential park closures due to capacity, no? But we've never made rope drop. I think once we had an ADR before the park opened but other than that, when I'm on vacation I like to sleep in and not set my clock. =)

Just relax! Id drop the 9:15 ADr and the lunch one. Enjoy sleeping until you're ready to get up and then head to the parlay or right after lunch. Maybe lunch at a monorail resort?

On our Thanksgiving trip, we had one day where we took it easy. We went to DHS for dinner and Osborne Lights, and only rode our FP rides. It was probably not the best use of a ticket, but it was a good day and we enjoyed it. We rope dropped on all of our other days, so we needed the break!
