To queue or not to queue?

Hi everyone!

Of the attractions that offer Fastpass, what would you recommend a first time visitor to DLRP in doing? Would you suggest getting a Fastpass and forget about waiting in line or would you suggest going through the queue because there is a pre-show or the queuing area is nicely themed and shouldn’t be missed?

I know many people would do anything not to stand in line and others don’t care one way or the other about the small details. But there are many, like myself, who could spend hours just absorbing the finest of details, themeing, architecture and design.

Are there some Fastpass queues that aren’t worth waiting in line for over an hour because there is nothing to see? I don’t mind waiting in a queue if there is something to see—besides, waiting builds up the anticipation if it is the first time you have experienced it. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Of the ones I usually Fastpass....

Peter Pan in Fantasyland get a Fastpass for and get it early! They go really quickly. Nothing really to see in the queue area.

Big Thunder also has nothing really to see.

Buzz has a themed area and an animatonic Buzz whilst you are waiting but only when you get so far round.

I personally don't see any benefit for queing for something that I could Fastpass instead.

Sorry to be clueless but what is a FASTPASS??? Ive never been to DLP we are going for our 1st trip in Nov 08....
Do you have to pay for a fastpass? Where do you get them from???
And how does it work?
SORRY! :flower3:

You can FP TOT, Peter Pan, Space Mountain and Buzz without missing anything.

My husband says he loves the queuing area for BTM and Indiana Jones so he will try to ride those without FP.

I have never FP'd on Flying Carpets or Star Tours so don't know where they come out.

Would have to agree - grab a fastpass while you can!!:thumbsup2

Have always said that if the waiting areas were abit more exciting - showing clips of the ride you are going on or old films/cartoons etc, then the wait wouldn't be half as bad!

Have to say we did enjoy the queue for TOT - the atmosphere is fab and if you get a good CM leading you to your ride (as me and DS did on our 2nd go) it makes it all the better.

I like to ride without a fastpass once just so I can take in the theming.

I agree there is nothing to be seen in Peter Pan or Buzz's queueing area. I don't ride Space Mountain :scared1: and TOT wasn't open last time we were there so I can't speak for those.

Big Thunder Mountain has got some great views and lots of mining paraphernalia and Flying Carpets has some amusing containers to look at. ;)

We don't bother to get fastpasses for Star Tours as usually it's a walk-on in the morning but I think you miss a lot of theming if you take the fastpass line.

The lobby of TOT has some nice theming but you tend to go through it so quick anyway you don't get to take it in. The FP brings you out in the boiler room so you still see the theming then.

Flying carpets you don't miss anything by FP'ing

There is no fastpass for Pirates of the Carribean and was the longest queue we had to wait in but every step of it is themed once you get inside. It is wonderfully dark and has pirate music gently playing. Even our DD(7) and
DS(3) didn't complain about the wait so it must have been good.pirate:

I'm personally not a fan of FastPass but will use it as I don't see why I should have to line up and wait while others zoom pass me. Make the most of it and don't worry you won't be missing out.

POTC is fantastic to wait in, I love the smell too.
When we were there last year there were real pirates hanging around in the tunnels, one had climbed up onto the bars and jumped down in front of us, I almost died of fright :lmao:

Thanks everyone for your input.

I definately will be useing a FP on Peter Pan and more than likely, I will use one on Buzz-the queue areas sound very similar to those in California.

Even though there is no FP for POTC, I am looking forward in seeing this queue area as well as experiencing the French version of this attractionpirate: .

At the time when I made this post, I did not weigh-in the fact that I use a wheelchair. On rides such as BigThunder Mountain, Indiana Jones and Space Mountain, I may not get to see the queue area regardless if I use FP or not:confused3 :sad2: . I know in the American parks (with the exception of Space Mountain in Florida) in order to board the roller coaster type attractions, a wheelchair must enter from the exit in order to have their chair waiting for them when they get off the ride. I am assuming this is true at DLP as well???? I'm not sure but do any of you know?

Again, thanks...

As a chair user you would need to use the exit of POTC as its not suitable for you to go through the queing area.
