Heres the situation

Have ressies for CR concierge for 4 nights, then supposed to go to Poly, Lagoon view for 5 nights. HOWEVER, been reading A LOT of negative reports about poly lately. I have never actually stayed there, only visited and thought it was beautiful, but starting to question it. Should we stay somewhere else instead? or just stick with the original plans and hope for the best? :teeth:

Thanks everyone, whenever I ask DH ANYTHING about our trips its always "Do whatever you want" so I always get stuck making decisions alone

I've stayed at both, but not at concierge level. If it were me, I would stay the whole time at CR. We love it there. I loved everything about this resort. It's not that I dislike the Polynesian, I just loved CR and liked Polynesian.

We love the Polynesian the best. We have stayed in other hotels and always go back to the Poly. There is something so relaxing about it that we love. The atmosphere, gardens and the set up of the long houses, are some of the things we like the best. On our last trip there, a CM told us it had the highest return rate of guests out of all the hotels there, not sure how true this is, but then it seems we always go back.

To be fair, many of the service complaints are recent(and I am one of the complainers) and this often occured during or after the hurricanes. The Poly was truly our "home away from home" for many years and we had wonderful experiences in the concierge building. The convenience can't be beat and the theming is fantastic. There have been some excellent reports on the Poly from recent visitors so things may be on the upswing. Have fun whichever resort you decide to try. Threehearts

The Poly is lovely, as is the CR. Our problem this last time wasn't with the resort, it was moving. I would recommend thinking hard about moving long and hard, especially if it's during a busy time. We gave up our room at WL on a Friday morning around 9:30-10AM, CM at CR had said to go on over early to the Poly since we were already onsite. Even had me call them the night before and remind them that we were already onsite and to ask them to remember that when they made room assignments, please give us a room that wasn't currently occupied. HA HA HA!. That's what the Poly said when I called. Said they'd try. We arrived at the Poly and found that there were no rooms available yet, check in was, after all at three. I explained what CR said, they gave me a blank look. Checked us in and said to call them around 1. Needless to say, it was after 4 before we got our room, due in part to my specific room request. (Samoa 3rd floor, volcano pool side). So resort hopping is probably fun during a slow time and if you don't have a specific room or view specified. It just didn't work for us this time.

We were at the Poly inbetween the hurricanes, (after Frances, during Ivan and before Jean) and still found the CM's to be great. Everyone was super friendly, the room we had was spotless(3943 in Tokelau) and the resort showed no signs that two hurricanes had recently passed through. IMHO nothing beats the Poly for convenience, location and romance, watching the fireworks from the beach at night curled up in a hammock with a giant pinapple filled with a tasty adult beverage as the tiki torches burn all around you, that's what a resort should be!

Can you stay at the Poly first and then switch to CR? I'm assuming that you are familiar with the CR and know you like it. That way you have something to look forward to if you don't love the Poly. I had the opposite problem last year. I opted to try the CR instead of the Poly and found it wasn't for me. It didn't ruin my trip, but I sure missed the Poly!

DD and I have stayed Poly CL twice this year, and loved it both times. The first trip was LV, WOW!! That view of the castle was fantastic!! The second trip, we stayed GV. Not as great a view, but still loved the Hawaii bldg. and we are huge fans of the Poly. We arrived a couple of days after Charley had blown through, so there were some minor personnel issues, but nothing to ruin the trip and we had a great time!!

We've split our trip the last few times we've gone, and really enjoy moving to a new resort. We pack our dirty clothes as we go, so all we have to do is pack up our toiletries on the last day, hop in a taxi and check in to our new resort!! The room is not always ready, but we head out to the parks and have a great day!

Hope you have a wonderful trip, whatever you decide!

We visted the Poly for the first time during Frances. The staff was great and the resort is so relaxing and beautiful. Our room was clean, not moldy. It was Tokelau (I don't remember the room number). The view there was fantastic! It was like getting LV for GV price. Our room directly looked out at the Hawaii bldg. but if you looked to your right (not leaning or anything just looking to the right) you saw the lagoon, GF, and CR. There was one palm tree directly in line with the view of the castle.

We will definately go back to the Poly again. This trip we're not because it doesn't have high speed internet and my DH needs it to monitor his business.

Have fun...it's a wonderful resort!

Thanks so much for all the feedback guys!!

Guess Ill leave it as is, I am on my mission to "SLEEP AROUND THE WORLD" so far weve done AKL, WL, CBR, POR (magnolia bend)....this trip CR and poly, which will leave POFQ, CSR, YC, BC, Boardwalk, Swan & Dolphin, POR (AB)and POP whiew thats a lot of trips!!
