To Poly or not to Poly?

Thanks for the advice everyone! The reason that we were going to stay on-site first is that we are arriving on a Monday (or Tuesday) and we want to rent a house off-site for a week. While I'm sure it works for others, neither DH or I really want to live Disney Magic 24-7 for 12+ days. I agree that it is probably better to do the on-site stay at the end of the trip.

I'm definately going to splurge and go for the Poly for at least 4 nights. We are going back for 7 days in 2006 so I might like it enough to stay there for the whole week then!!!:Pinkbounc

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where we could stay a Tuesday to Tuesday? We definately don't want to be on-site for that time. We want a house with a pool so that we can just relax for a day or two:earsgirl:

Thanks again for all the feedback - it is helping me justify all the $$$!!!!

HayGan...if you are looking for a house...sorry...can't help you there. BUT if you would be interested in a nice condo...check out Holiday Villa's...they have 2 & 3 bedroom condo's....w/2 bathrooms. We have stayed there before and it is very nice! Quite reasonably priced too.
They have a website...www.holidayvillas.com
Check it out!

Offsite first then Poly. I agree that being by the MK is very very convenient. However, dont overlook the other wonderful things about the Poly that you will never forget: the pool is one of the best if not the best, the atmosphere will make you feel like you are on a real Polynesian island, the gardens are lush and beautiful, the sandy beach is relaxing, the veiw of the MK is like a postcard, the water parade at night is so fun for the kids, the access to the TTC is withing walking distance, the fireworks can be viewed from the beach, the restaurants at the Poly are very good and reasonable, and the smell of the whole resort is something you will never forget. We have stayed off site and at other resorts on site. The Poly was our first and will always be our favorite. We are leaving in 3 weeks and I cant wait.

Everyone has pretty much said it all here about the Poly - and I understand about not wanting Disney 24/7 (tho lots of us do ;)..

The reason I like the Polynesian so much is that I feel I'm a million miles away from everything....and if you request Tokelau or Rapa Nui you will also be far enough away from the Great Ceremonial House to enjoy the peace and quiet. It is truly a special place. I could stay at the Poly and never go a park.

Actually, I will be arriving there next week and although I'll be there 5 nights, my friend and I are only doing 2 parks. Great R&R.

I think you'll feel very relaxed there. Enjoy!

Has anyone posted the tikiman site? It gives you a map and layout. Remember, it's not as busy as some resorts, and due to it's being spread out quite peaceful. I rarely hear munckins running and screaming in delight or over tired!

Have a great time!
