To plan or not to plan

DH & I are going to WDW 11/26-12/02 this yr. My DH thinks I've booked the Premium Pkg but I've really booked the platinum plan

Excited as I am, "10 months" ahead of time, I'm @ home trying to make PLANS. DH says: let's not make to many plans, you don't want to plan to many things because you won't enjoy yourself .

Oh, my....we've been to WDW 3 times already, he doesn't know how hard it is to make ADR's because I've always done it.

Can some body give me some input on how they would handle this situation; I need some help of ALL experts out there !! HELP ! !

I always plan the park days and meals. (you really have to if you want to get the ADRs you want) I would never go to DW without planning these 2 main items. My DH also says that maybe we should go to DW without anything planned and just fly by the seat of our pants...Then I remind him how much a Disney World trip costs and if we do that we might not be able to eat at Le Cellier, Boma, Jiko....and he backs off. Someone on this board has in their signature..."Failing to plan is planning to fail". I couldn't agree more when it comes to a DW trip.

I'll have to try that with DH.

DH does want his fishing planned, but just about everything else nah ! ! ! He's just that way; easy going.

I'm like you, I have to plan EVERY THING & you are absolutely right; you won't get ADR's. Oh, well, he'll have to live with it that is what he would call - (THE DREADED PLANS);

Unfortunately I think the days of not planning your meals may be over. With the success of the free dining plan this past fall, a lot more people are using it than ever before. As a result, more and more people are getting ADR's. I would hate for you to have spent all that money on the plan and not get to eat at the good restaurants because they are too busy to accept walk-ups....

It can't hurt to make the plans, and cancel if something comes up. And like it's been noted before, with so many people on the dinning plan, you need to make ADR's to be sure you get want you really want.

We like Le Cellier, and the last few times we went, they were not accepting walkups! Better safe than sorry.

Unless you and DH wouldnt mind eating CS only for your whole vacation, do the ADRs. If you make them at resorts instead of parks, You can be at whatever park you like before, and not stuck with eating out of paper baskets or using plastic forks all day every day

Always have a backup. That's my deal.

I knew we wanted CRT and Le Cellier, so I booked them.

The boyo at first mocked me when I kept asking him to review menus on allears months before we left. Then he mocked me again when they printed out my ressies at check-in (The CM was like "ARe all these yours?" - I had made changes, so my actual list for my six ressies was like 3 pages long).

But when we were at Le Cellier and they turned away walk-ups, he started to think I was right, and when we were at CRT dinner and they turned away walk-ups, he knew I was right, and when we were at Chefs de France and they turned away walk-ups, he turned to me and said that he would be more agreeable to the planning process on future trips and that I did a great job.

---We did cancel out of our boma Ressie, and felt no issue with that. We had options, and felt good about it.

If you're paying for the premium package, you would do yourself a great disservice by not planning your ADR's..all of them! If you want to "fly by the seat of your pants" change them when you get there.

If you don't plan, you will be very surprised how many meals you will not be able to get.
