My family (husband, wife, 10 y/o son, 6 y/o daughter) is making our first trip to WDW in August. There will be three dates in which we could attend the PPP if we so choose.... but I'd like to get a little bit of information from those who have attended the PPP earlier this year. Would you recommend it, would you not? Anything you have to say, I'd like to hear!

Thanks!!!

We loved it! DD8 dressed up as Cinderella and we had dinner at the Castle before the party started. The parade and fireworks were wonderful. We have been to all of the after hours parties that Disney has (MNSSHP, MVMCP and the P&PP). We enjoy the laid back atmosphere, the lighter crowds, etc. it's a little pricey, but what the heck, you're at Disney!

I would do it, definitely...I can't wait to take my DD to it once she's old enough (if they're still doing it then, of course).

We did it in March my kids are 5 and 13, they enjoyed it, my 13 yr old loved the dance party near the Little Mermaid. The parade and fireworks were good.

I liked the fact that the park was not crowded and it was a lay back night for rides., but we never got to see Jack Sparrow the line is tooo long and he is inside a building. the Pirate games is in a bad area and too small to move around in with everyone trying to push their way to the games. It sounds so much nicer then I felt it was. I love Disney and we go 2x a year, We have done the Halloween Parties a few times, we are doing it again this year and the Christmas Party, the Pirate Night didn't feel like a Pirate or Princess Night, It wasn't much different then the Halloween Party.

I am glad I did it but I wouldn't do it again.

There will be 3 PPP nights available when we(me and DS6) go in August too. I've never been to a separately ticketed event at MK, so at first I was very excited thinking we would go. Now I'm not sure.

The first night is the day we arrive (6am flight-I think even with a nap, we'll be tired the first night-plus we have an 8am breakfast the next morning). The 2nd night we already had plans to do the Grand Gatherings Peter Pan Wishes cruise with my cousins and their kids, so that won't work. The 3rd night is our last night-we have to leave at 10am for the airport the next day which wouldn't be too bad... At first, I thought we would go that night, but the more I think about it, I can't decide if it is worth $75 more. I feel like DS will just want to go on rides and not really care about the parade, fireworks, shows, or character meet and greets-which is what paying the $$$$ for a separately ticketed event is all about, right??? I think I will wait on getting the tickets and take my chances that it may sell out and see if we really want to go once we are there. I know the prices go up the day of the event, but we could buy tickets in the days before.

This has been a real tough call for me! One day I think we should go, the next day I think of a bunch of reasons why we should skip it. I feel like we shouldn't miss it since it is happening while we are there...but there are LOTS of things we miss at WDW while we are there every trip-it's impossible to do everything!

Maybe we should go the first night...see, here I go again!

I am debating on getting tickets in August too- there are five of us, so it will not be cheap- $200- I think I may skip it- we will be busy enough with the water parks and trying to fit everything else in!:rolleyes1

so roughly how many people are at this party, i.e. any lines at rides or only at the special events?

I was going to get tickets for when we go in August, but I think I decided against it. I don't know that my kids, who will be 11 and 4, will enjoy it that much, and it is a lot of money. We were planning on being at MK for the EMH that were planned for that night before they scheduled the party, but now I think we'll just go eat our dinner at 'Ohana and either go back to our resort or go shopping at DTD.

does anyone have any idea of how many tickets are sold (per day) for this event? and, also is this the only place that you can meet Captain Jack Sparrow?

So, am I understanding this correctly, if there are EMH at MK the night of a PP party, you cannot be in the park unless you have purchased a ticket for the party? That seems kind of unfair to those who plan to stay at the resorts to take advantage of the EMHs!

Do they schedule Magic Kingdom EMH on the P&PP nights? I didn't think they did but of course I could be wrong.

I went in Feb and it was awesome! I thought it was definately worth the extra $$. My DD, 3 and DS, 5 loved it! Especially the parade and the "X marks the spot" treasure spots! (you get prizes at each place marked with an "x")

The EMH was on the calendar before the P&P party was scheduled. Since there is the P&P that night now, no EMH. :(

We took the 5 kids in February to the PPP and they loved it - waited 45 minutes for Capt. Jack Sparrow and it was worth it - looked and spoke just like Johnny Depp and interacted very well with all the kids. I am going again in August and will wait again hopefully not as long - I will go right over when Party starts. As for the EMH I am not 100% sure but I know we had to have our wristbands on to go on any rides. No lines so it was great, granted it was in February before school was on break. The younger kids (4 & 6) enjoyed going to find all the "treasures" on the map and getting there jewelry and chocolate. If you have the money and the time IMHO it is worth it. Just a note: The Haunted Mansion is closed for all the PPP dates for refurbishment - which really bothers my wife.

I am going to WDW in August and am wondering what exactly is that different during the PPP. Is it just meet and greets? If anyone has been already could you please tell me what makes this worth it. I love Disney and really want to go the PPP but I need more info for my DH. Thanks :wizard:

I haven't been yet but am going in August. From what I've read the park is much less crowded, rides should be walk-ons. They have a special parade and fireworks. Everyone on here says the fireworks show is fantastic, better than Wishes. There are spots where the kids can collect candy and necklaces, also. I can't wait to find out for myself what it's really like!!

As the PP said, there is a special Fireworks show and parade. It's all really well done! The parade is OUTSTANDING! As a major Wishes fan, I am usually hard pressed to admit there is a show that lives up to that, but the PPP fireworks are pretty phenomenal. There are TONS of characters out that you don't usually see...there are special activities, dance parties and Pirate lessons...upon entrance to the park you receive a bag and you collect "coins" and necklaces throughout the park. You look for X's and find "treasure" at each spot. Everyone is dressed up and it's just a really great time. The best being that the crowds are MUCH lower than normal. It's a really special event and I can't wait to go in August!! You won't be sorry at all!!pirate: princess:

Thank you both I was really interested in this before but now I'm really excited! I can't wait to see this, it will be so nice to see Disney in a different way. Also if the rides are really walk on it's worth at least trying.

When we went in Feb., all the rides were walk on with no wait. We had been to the MK that morning and had only done Adventureland so when we went that evening for the PPP we started in Tomorrowland and worked our way around towards Adventureland. Definantly worth the extra money in Feb. considering the parks usually close early and it was my kids only chance of really seeing Disney lit up at night.
