So first I would like to appolgize for my spelling. I have no idea if thats spelled correctly. Second of all... HELP ME. :confused3

This is the situation. I dont like lugging a purse around. So normally I have a small wallet I use. But when we go to disney I have no idea what to do. It will be my 7 year old daughter and I. :cheer2: I dont want to carry a purse around. I really really dont care for phannybacks on me. And if i didnt wear it what would be the point. I would love to bring a backpack. But what would I do with it while we are on the rides? I wouldnt leave any money of things in it while we are on the ride. I thought I heard somewhere there are shelfs on the rides. But I have no idea if this is the case for all the rides. Im so confused! Need suggestions. :confused3

Thanks!!!!

On our trips I do wear a fanny-pack (I would never trust anyone , even my dh with our park ticket combo room key combo charge card) or my camera. We do bring a roll along backpack for rain ponchos, lightweight jackets, water, and the video camera. But there were several mornings we decided against the backpack, it does get to be a pain to lug it around. Just remember to remove the fannypack for pictures, it does look quite stupid around your waist..............not fashionable at all! LOL But imho I think the fanny pack is the way to go. BTW my kids r 9 and 10. GL whatever you decide!

I was totally anti-fanny pack before our Disney trip. After we got there and I saw that everyone had them and I was lugging a backpack and a camera bag, I started looking all over for one but couldn't find one I really liked. I wished I had shopped for a good one before our vacation. I did take one for each of my girls, 5 and 8 at the time, so they could be in charge of their own sunglasses and stuff. We're planning our next trip for Dec '07 and I will definitely be wearing a fanny pack.

I'm with you - I refuse to wear a fannypack, even at Disney! I use a very small, messenger-type bag that's about the same size as a fannypack. It's still hands-free, can easily fit on all the rides, and doesn't look as silly. It's the perfect size for carrying my ID, key card, a little cash, sunglasses and camera.

Gosh I think im more confused now than before on what to do. Hehe. :confused3

But in 2 weeks at this time ill be in the air on my way to orlando!!! then on sunday its off to see the mouse :earsboy:

Woohoooo

i don't go to any park w/ our family w/out a fannypack! i know it's kind of dorky, but it is practical!! to me, it's worth it.

Unless the fanny-pack is HUGE, then it really isn't a problem on the rides:

Loosen the belt a little, and spin it around so it is now a belly-pack!

Once you get used to it, you be able to do it without even really thinking about it.

Loosen-spin-sit-RIDE!-spin-tighten

I would have to agree. I hate fannypacks. Like with all my life, yet I find myself wearing one at Disney. It's worth it, trust me. The thing is everyone and their dog is wearing one so noone notices. Unlike in the mall where everyone would notice!! haha Seriously, it was the best idea, nothing dragging on your neck, not having to worry where to put it on rides (just put it to your side) and no worrys about anyone stealing (Not saying people would but it's people) because if you wanna get in that area to steal something hunny you go right ahead haha But that's just my opinion. DO IT!

Ok so im a little convinced and want to start looking. But where would I be able to find one for myself ( plus sized women )??? But I only have 2 weeks to get it.

JC Penney's store if you have one near you carries some really nice leather fanny packs. They are very inexpensive too. I too detest fanny packs but when I am in disneyworld that is all I use. My boys laugh hysterically when they see me bring it out...but I always end up stashing there stuff in my pack too. :earsgirl:

I saw one at Wal-Mart last year that claimed to have an extra long waist strap.

A fannypack at Disney is a must. Would I wear one anyplace else? NO. I carry money, room key, tickets right next to my body. I would not trust that in a backpack.

I'm a 18-20W, and there is no way I would wear a fanny pack. Hello do I need to make my waist and hips bigger. :goodvibes
I bring a small bag fom Vera Bradley- this is the style I wear http://www.verabradley.com/ProductDetail.aspx?qs1=13044 . I wear it diagonally across my body or I shorten it to wear it as a shoulder bag (strap doubled up). It fits room cards, AP's, a comb, a small digital camera, a granola bar, 2 credit cards, and cash. There are tons of places that sell them, so you could have it within the 2 week window. You should go try it out and put things in it you are planning to bring into the park.

Awesome! I like that idea better. Ill have to look around this week to see what i can do. Thank you all!

I have a fanny pack that I have only used for Disney. I do not want to carry anything with me, and I would constantly be having those small panic attacks that you get when you think you misplaced your purse for a second. All I carry in it are the park tickets, some cash, and I buy a bunch of those.79- .99 cent clear ponchos. (Camping dept. at Wal Mart)They are folded very small, so I can easily fit 5 in the pack, with tons of room left over. If we need them, we use them, and then toss them away. I have penty more back at the hotel. Even if we use them, thet can be rolled small enough for all 5 to fit in the pack. If we buy souveniers, we have them sent to the hotel. I never want to carry anything in my hands at Disney! I don't wear my pack in the back like some people do. Mine is actuall in the front, off to one side. I don't even know it's there after a while...and no panic attacks!

Seems to me that everybody has three choices at WDW:

1) Carry your stuff in some sort of bag.
2) Carry your stuff in your pockets.
3) Carry no stuff.

I don't like carrying bags either, mostly because of the extra line I would have to go through to get into the parks. Instead, I wear a utility belt with all of my stuff hanging from it. I take it off for most rides and hang it between my feet.

I have used waist packs and even backpacks in the past, and I don't mind having a small bag on my belt (except when I have to stand in line at the bag check), but the utility belt makes it easier for me to get to those bulky items that don't fit in my pockets.

Cool ideas, WillCAD. Well thought out, that's clear.

I don't like much in my pockets, so what you put in your pockets I put in my fanny pack. Fully loaded it isn't much (if any) fatter than your poncho roll, just taller and wider.

But like you, I've narrowed my list down to just what I need, not the "the kitchen sink."

I was at Wal-Mart the other day and they have breast cancer awareness fanny packs. They're pink with the breast cancer ribbon on them. I'm not a fan of fanny packs but I'm going to pick a couple up for out trip in the fall (for myself and my DD 8) . I believe some of the profits go to breast cancer research so I figure if I'm going to wear a fanny pack it might as well help out a good cause.

I wouldn't do Disney without a fannypack. It was so just so convenient. Nothing to remember to take off the rides with you. Our family of four each had one. I bought ponchos in the camping dept of Target (less than a $1) that we each carried. Kids could carry their disposable cameras and we didn't have to dig them out every time they wanted them. Suggest folding a couple of gallon-size Ziplock baggies and carrying them. They came in really handy for keeping our camera, wallets, etc. dry on Splash Mountain, Kali River Rapids, etc. Just open the bag, put your fannypack inside and zip it up. Nothing gets wet! Also packed a small travel size package of Wet Ones for fast clean-ups. Great for easy access to what you bring to the park. Cuts down on bringing too many things with you that you eventually don't want to carry.

In October we used a gym sack to carry necessities. Didn't load it down & took turns carrying it. Great for your "stuff" but not as bulky as a backpack.
