To Park Hopp or not to Park Hopp.....

So I am working on our tentative itinerary, and have noticed that we really won't be attempting to do two parks in one day (well possibly only the last two days of the vacation). We had planned to get the Magic Plus visits, because we want to go to Typhoon Lagoon one day, and Pleasure Island & DisneyQuest a couple of times. I'm planning to get our tickets from Tickemania, and I had gotten a price of what I thought was Expiring Park Hoppers w/ Magic Plus ($279 pp), but just realized tonight that the price I got was for NON-PARK HOPPING ($238 pp).

So the question is........what would you do?????

It may still be crowded, and be definitely hot, so you could just plan to go to one park per day, and take a break back to your hotel. There may be enough people that you will need a full day in each park without hopping.

If money is an issue then I would not buy the park hopper option. But if that's not an issue then you need to think about your evenings. If your at a park (maybe Animal Kingdom) and you get done before closing time do you want to go back to your resort or would you like to go to another park? We usually go in Nov. and the parks are not open as late every evening so we go to Epcot a lot of nights to see the fireworks. We try to pick a different spot to sit so we get a different view each time. If your going in the summer then you may find that your staying at each park until closing time and then you'll be ready to go to the resort and hit the sack. There's no right or wrong answer.

We always get the park hopper for a few reasons....one, we enjoy taking midday breaks and doing a different park or activity at night from what we did in the day. We usually visit in the warmer months so a midday break is a must! The other reason is we find it is more enjoyable and relaxing to go back to the parks at different times throughout the trip...not all in one day.

If you decide once you get there that you want the ability to park hop, you can add that feature (for about $37/ticket, I think). We had park hoppers the last time we went (way back in December 2000) because that was the basic choice for a multi-day pass, and we didn't hop at all. This December we're going without the park hopping, which saves us about $150 on our four passes. For us, the time involved in changing parks is as much of an issue as the money. We're not "crack of dawn" people, so you won't see us there at rope drop. We won't leave for an afternoon break, but will stay in one park each day until it closes. (Unless we change our minds, in which case, we'll weigh whether it's really worth spending an additional $150 to go to another park that day - when we can wait and go on a different day without spending any extra money.)
