To our friends in the midwest...

Thanks for thinking of us!! DH and I are just north of Indianapolis and we're doing ok. No flooding here...but these storms have been awful. I'm finally sleeping again at night. It's horrible waking up to the severe storms...

My heart goes out to those who are truly affected by the floods and tornado damage.

Thanks for the updates all you mid-west Dis'ers! Good to hear you're surviving. I am sending lots of pixie dust your way! pixiedust: Take care everybody and thank you Pete for the caring thread!! :)

Thanks from St Louis! Like a previous poster said here in St Louis it has not been too bad. They are closing one of the casino riverboats due to the rising waters. The road I take to my MIL's was closed last week but only for a day. I live an hour south of St Louis and the creeks and ponds are rising pretty rapidly. Hope everyone else is OK!

Becky

Thanks for thinking of all of us. There's flooding here in SW Missouri but nothing like what they have up north. My heart goes out to them. I've been thru that when I lived in St. Louis.

Our deal has been constant threat of tornados or straight line winds at 80-90 mph. We've had something every other night. I've had so many nights crouched in my hallway with pillows trying not to have a full blown melt down. Everytime I seem to think it's all over and that I can go to bed, the weather radio has gone off for something new. I'm starting to get desensitized to it all. We'll have another round Thursday night and then hopefully it's gone for a while.

They say to do something that you love to take your mind off your fear. It has helped to chat away on the Dis.

I live a block away from a large river... we're under a flood watch. I live uphill though, so I am pretty sure we will be okay. I feel terrible for the peeps that live ON the river.

Prayers for all that are dealing with this crazy weather.

This is a great thread - all the thoughts and prayers will make a difference! I am lucky...live on a river, but VERY high on a hill. Unfortunately there are areas of SE Minnesota that were hit HARD by the floods last August, and now they are just getting hammered again. Most people from last year are still living out of trailers and such because assistance is scarce. I just pray the rain stops (doesn't sound promising, though) - especially for those down river from us. :boat:

Good luck everyone!pixiedust:

I'm in the middle of Kansas and although there has been lots of weather activity around the state we have been very fortunate. It seems like Indiana is having the worse situation with so much flooding. I had a call from our local Red Cross today looking for volunteers to go to Indiana for a 3 week stint. DH and I weren't able to go because of work commitments but I wish we had been able to. Thoughts and prayers to those suffering loss from flooding and storms.

Gosh you guys...I didn't realize so many of our "regulars" are from Indiana! I've been watching the news stories as well and it just makes me so nervous for all of you living in the states affected by the flooding. Please stay safe and know that our thoughts and prayers are with you!

I haven't been around and am checking in and saw this. Sending hugs and support to everyone involved. :goodvibes

another SE Wisconsinite here. This is the first I've seen this thread with everything going on around here (including the end of the school year!)

I live a mile or two from the Root river where they're evacuating people because of it cresting. Hwy 38 is closed between my town and Oak Creek on the way up to Milwaukee because it's become a lake.

A lake has completely disappeared in the Wisconsin Dells. The water carved out a new path. People went to work with a lake in their back yard...and came home to a mudpile!!!

Last Friday we were trying to do the 8th grade graduation ceremony and 7th grade picnic when the tornado sirens went off... It's great cramming 650 students, 65 staff members, and close to 100 parents and siblings in the basement for an hour. Makes for happy happy people!

We spent every weekend night in our basement watching 2 tv's (satellite and rabbit ears for when satellite went out) as we dodged tornadoes, floods, and severe t'storm warnings. We watched the sump pump drain water out of our basement, running for half a minute but only resting for 12 seconds at a time...

I'm so ready for this to be over. We're supposed to get more tomorrow and we're already under another flash flood warning. Nothing like starting my first days off from work off right!!

Thanks, Pete and everybody for the thoughts. I'm ready for some sun!! :D

I would have to agree with that statement wholeheartedly! The nights when it was storming like crazy here, I was on chat with a few folks. They really helped to keep me from freaking out too much! I would be sitting in my kitchen, covered by blankets, surrounded by flashlights, and chatting away on my laptop! Thankfully, we never lost power during any of the storms!

There are quite a few of us Hoosiers on here! I didn't realize that either!

Stay safe!!

I truly hope that this wild weather takes a break for awhile. I had the first night of real sleep last night! No weather radios going off...no worries about a storm blowing in overnight...it was heaven! :dance3:

I think we need to build an Ark for our midwestern Pod Squad members! ::yes::

What a terrible predicament...need to go to the basement due to tornadoes, but afraid to because of flooding. This is one of those situations where each day I check the news hoping things are looking better, but instead it continues to steadily get worse. Hang in there all of you -- there has to be a break soon!!!

Central IL here....lots of flooding in the area. The lake in my town got incredibly high and at one point they were letting so much water over the dam that the river on the other side was almost as high as the lake. The lake is closed to boats, swimming etc because of the current and debris.

No flooding at my house, we live on high ground thankfully. Thinking of everyone else in worse situations.

It's getting worse here. They are talking of closing the Mississippi River. They are closing highways around here. Personally, we are in a good place. We live far enough away from the river, but it's not looking good for the area. We are supposed to get more rain today, and further north is supposed to get rain and that will all come this way.

Thank you for the well wishes. I live on the SW side of WI on the border of MN and only 20 min from IA. Luckily La Crosse hasn't been flooded, but surrounding communities have been and we are expecting 1-7 more inches of rain over the next 2 days! yikes!

I guess this brings out my old quote...gay people melt in the rain!:lmao:

edit: just gotta keep the runways open. This Sunday it's off to WDW for a week!

We were down in Cinci last week and went through a few tornado warnings....we went down to go to King's Island and didn't get to do much because of the storms.:(

We've been very lucky here. We have lost several trees and one just missed our pool. Overall just high winds and lots of rain. Best of luck to those south of us, as that seems to be the worst area.

Thanks Pete! The Fox Cities were lucky enough to not get hit with so much rain, but our neighbors in the Dells have pretty much lost their entire Lake and their season this year- very sad.
