To our friends in the midwest...

Glad to hear you are ok!!! I was in shock at how much the Milwaukee area got- we, in Appleton, were pretty ok.

Amy

another SE Wisconsinite here. This is the first I've seen this thread with everything going on around here (including the end of the school year!)

I live a mile or two from the Root river where they're evacuating people because of it cresting. Hwy 38 is closed between my town and Oak Creek on the way up to Milwaukee because it's become a lake.

A lake has completely disappeared in the Wisconsin Dells. The water carved out a new path. People went to work with a lake in their back yard...and came home to a mudpile!!!

Last Friday we were trying to do the 8th grade graduation ceremony and 7th grade picnic when the tornado sirens went off... It's great cramming 650 students, 65 staff members, and close to 100 parents and siblings in the basement for an hour. Makes for happy happy people!

We spent every weekend night in our basement watching 2 tv's (satellite and rabbit ears for when satellite went out) as we dodged tornadoes, floods, and severe t'storm warnings. We watched the sump pump drain water out of our basement, running for half a minute but only resting for 12 seconds at a time...

I'm so ready for this to be over. We're supposed to get more tomorrow and we're already under another flash flood warning. Nothing like starting my first days off from work off right!!

Thanks, Pete and everybody for the thoughts. I'm ready for some sun!! :D

My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by this terrible weather. I know my mothers county was declared a "state of emergency" and it's been pretty bad from what I'm hearing. We actually had a lot of damages done to my stepfathers boat business near Bloomington. Its a small local shop, and really had a lot of loss. Its just terrible to hear of such loss and see all the destruction that water can do. I'm so sorry and like I said, you all are in my thoughts. Be Safe!

We have a new flash flood watch with lots of rain on the way again today. :(

What a way to start my first day off from work!

Prayers to friends and family of any of the Boy Scouts in Iowa that were at camp when the tornado hit...all this is just too much. :(

We got 8" of rain last weekend and more today. Lots of tornados in the area, mudslides and road closures. They have closed a couple areas on the interstate due to flooding. I've never seen it this bad and widespread in Wisconsin.

Be safe Tracy.

My thoughts and prayers to all those in the MidWest.

So far in the western suburbs where I live, we've missed the bad weather...we haven't even had any rain. But to all the DISer's in our neighboring states of Wisconsin and Iowa, be safe and take care. We know your states well and have visited often as our youngest DS went to Univeristy of Wisconsin-Whitewater for a year and now is at the University of Dubuque. We are praying for all of you. pixiedust: pixiedust:

My goodness...I just saw some news footage of the streets flooded in Cedar Rapids. Come on now enough is enough. Please be safe all of you, and if they give the word to leave, don't give it a second thought -- just go!!! :grouphug:

Thanks Pete and everyone. I'm in Iowa, so I haven't seen a lot of flooding, but we have had some really heavy rain and a few tornadoes. There was a big storm yesterday and a tornado hit a boy scout camp about 50 miles north of us. 4 boy scouts were killed and many others were injured. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks again for your concern everyone. :]

The tornado went right over our neighborhood. My son and I were in the bathroom praying while my daughter slept on the floor. Th next day we drove around and saw that the tornado had caused damage on all four of the streets surrounding our neighborhood and yet we were untouched. Truely amazing! It was as though God put a bowl over our house and it went on around us!

Though we are having no flooding here this time, our hearts go out to those folks upriver from here who are losing most of their possessions. Stay safe and we will be praying for you!

Thanks for your kind words, Pete!
