Have resies for POR I think I would like to stay in the mansions as we have stayed in AB before. Do I call CRO or the resort front desk. Also any pros/cons to staying in the mansions?

Can't wait!!!

Call CRO. It will be noted in your reservation. The resorts don't get your reservation till 3-4 days out from your reservation.

Call CRO and have them place your request on your reservation.

Mansions are ok, not a themed and as fun as the bayou. To me the mansions always feel more like a 'normal' hotel, while the bayou had a more 'disney' feel to it.

I called the resort directly, at CRO's suggestion, 4 days before our arrival. I got everything I wanted. We loved the mansions, but it's everyones individual taste.

A little known fact, when you call the "Front Desk" you're usually getting the call center anyway. Faxes will go to the resort itself, which is why they have to be so close to the actual arrival date. A lot of resorts are now asking that all requests go through CRO or the call center, because of the extreme fax volume... they're getting so many requests, it becomes more than they can handle. This is also the reason why all front desk calls go to the call center -- extreme call volume.

Tyler, besides WL and the DVC resorts, are you aware of any other resort that isn't taking faxed requests anymore?

rngclick, I agree with dznyntnh. We've stayed at both bayou and mansion rooms and found the bayou to have more disney to it.

Not sure at this time, but my guess is that by the end of the year, all resorts will have followed suit.

Just wanted to add that I requested mansions at time I made my reservations, did NOT fax, and did not get request. We ended up in bldg 28 far away from everything and hard to find when tired at 12:30 am LOL!

We requested our mansion thru CRO at time of reservation and did get our request. We loved the mansions. Very Peaceful.

Many have already adopted this policy, just has not made an official announcement except to the staff.

Tyler, I understand they are over whelmed with faxes and I always make requests when making my reservations. But sometimes you get CRO's that don't care and just go on like you have never mentioned it... then what would you suggest? thanks...amy...... :wave2:

Whether you get a CRO person who cares or not, bottom line is that it's still the room assignor who gets the requests and blocks off the rooms. The CRO person simply inputs the requests into the comment line. It's the same process... just different.

But instead of the assignor getting a hundred different fax letters that they need to input into comments, everything is already there, and printed out on a handy dandy reference sheet.

I understand about too many faxes, but what else can you do? We had a big issue at AKL this past trip. My brother called and made the ressies and informed him my mother had a heart condition and couldn't walk very far distances at a time. They assured him we would be close to the food court and bus stop. They told him to call back, to CRO, a few days before the trip and remind them. He called back a week before the trip, again assured this would be no problem. He didn't put on there 'disability' b/c my mother is not in a wheel chair and didn't want to go there. He also told them the sooner we got there the better. We were at AKL by 11:00 am. When we arrived, our rooms were ready- but on the END of a wing on the oppposite side of the building as the bus stops and food court- in other words, as far away as possible. And the wings at AKL are very long! I spent over an hour talking to 'Jesus' (that was his name) at check-in. He said the request was there but there was nothing about a medical need so they fill it. I told him there was a medical need, he asked if we had papers to prove it- which we did- and he then took 4 hours to get our room ready. He then informed me we should have put 'disability' on our request if we wanted it filled. He was very rude. Anyway, I don't want to go through this again. We are staying at POFQ- which we chose b/c it is so compact and walking distances shouldn't be far from anywhere. I reuquested the same thing- close to the bus stop and food court. I'm not worried about this trip b/c of the small resort. Still, what can you do to insure your request will be taken seriously?

Sorry that happened to your mom but disability should have been noted on the ressie whether your mom liked it or not. Obviously the room location must have not been that important to her. A request is just that, a request. There are no guarantees as to the room you ask for. Do you know how many people all want to be close to the bus stops and food courts? Just about everyone from the posts on these boards. So unless you flag your reservation with it being needed for medical reasons than your requests are just thrown in the pile with the other hundreds of folks that want the same thing as you. I imagine the CMs get a little tired of people demanding their requests be filled. Next time I'm sure you will note it to CRO that your needs are medically necessary and not a simply request. Hopefully you will get what you ask for on your next trip. :D

The CM at CRO said she put medical reason by it- but the guy at check in said it didn't matter unless the word "disability" was used. It was explained thoroughly to the CM at CRO why we were asking for this and she said it was noted that we had a person with a medical concern. CRO even told us to bring a letter from the doctor in case they asked at check-in and said it would be no problem in this kind of instance. The guy at check-in insisted this didn't matter unless it said the word 'disability'. We've never thought of using 'disability' b/c that I usually think of a wheelchair or something like that- and we didn't need these kinds of rooms. The rooms for people with disabilities are equipped for people in wheelchairs and that sort of thing. The CM said 'medical reason' would be efficient. Anyway, I really think the guy at check-in was not well-informed about his job, which is not necessarily his fault I realize. He knew nothing about the resort- could not answer questions about the different saavannahs or anything. He even told me in chatting that all the savannahs had the same animals- another CM politely overheard this and corrected him. He may have been new. Looking back, I wish I would have asked for a manager or someone different. We've been 4 times with my mother, always ask the same thing and CRO put medical reasons, and have never had this kind of problem. It was just a bad experience that quickly faded as soon as it was over- the WDW magic kicked in quickly!:D

I apologize for misreading your post. I thought that your brother didn't want disability noted on the reservation and not the CM. I do know all too well of uninformed CMs. It seems to be a trend lately. I called yesterday to inquire about AP rates and was told there are no such thing and I must be confused! LOL! She insisted that they only have seasonal passes for Florida residents and that is it. Amazing how some CMs don't have a clue as to what is going on. Hopefully your next trip will be much better and you won't have to deal with another rude CM.
