To Keep this ADR or to Cancel it?? (Le Cellier)

Geesh...I'm so indecisive these days! I can't decide what to do about my Le Cellier lunch ADR. Truly, the only reason I have it is because people rave about it and I want to know what all the hype is about. But, frankly, the menu doesn't look like "all that."

Our ADR is at 11:30 on our "down day." That is to say that it's on our day that we intend to do nothing but enjoy our resort. It's just a short walk from BCV to Le Cellier, so it's not a major deal; but I wonder whether it's worth it to take the time away from the resort to go eat at Le Cellier. Frankly, the menu at Captain's Grille at lunch looks a bit more interesting. Or, my kids could eat Hurricane Hannah's or Beaches and Cream.

Currently that day's schedule looks like this:

Morning: SLEEP IN DAY
Lunch: 11:30 Le Cellier
Dinner: 6:40 CRT

Honestly, except that I like to have a plan, the idea of just "being" that day is really appealing. We could get up leisurely and head out to SAB, we could make an ADR at Captain's Grille and not have to leave the resort...or the kids could just eat whatever they can find...and then we could shower and refresh around 3:30 or 4:00 and go to MK for dinner.

What do you think?

if the menu doesn't appeal to you, why bother with it? just because others enjoy it doesn't mean you will. I say, let it go and enjoy what YOU find appealing.

It's not that it's unappealing, so much as it doesn't seem to be "all that." I'm sure I'd enjoy it. Not as sure about dh, but I'm sure he'd find something.

I'm seriously tempted to cancel it just because of the inconvenience of it. Gotta give it some more thought.

For a truly "down" day at the resort, it would be best to cancel.

Personally, DH and I love LeCellier, but we go in conjunction with touring Epcot. The fillet at LC is fabulous as is the beer cheese soup and pretzel bread. It is a cozy atmosphere that we enjoy. I think the reason it is so hard to get ressies is that it is comparatively small and it fills up fast.

There are SO many dining choices at Disney, it sounds like Le Cellier is just not for you. I'd cancel and pick somewhere you know you'd both enjoy.
However, Le Cellier DOES live up to the hype for us We can't wait to eat there on our trip. It's always been one of our favorites.

I agree if the menu doesn't appeal to you don't go.

The only reason we went to LC was because we are big steak eaters and I love a good prime rib. That isn't served at lunch and is now off the menu, so we won't be back.

Yes it is a good restaurant, however it isn't that "spectacular" that you should go if the food doesn't appeal to you. The food was why people loved it....now......well we shall see.

I certainly won't juggle my plans to get in there, never did, as WDW has plenty of good food.

The only thing they had better than anywhere else was the AIR conditioning!!! Man it was cold in there....I loved it!!!

I agree completely with both of these PPs. We love eating at Le Cellier but we only do it while we are already at Epcot, we would never just make an ADR especially during one of our down days. If you are more interested in Captain's Grille, then by all means cancel Le Cellier and go with that....look at it this way....you always have the next time to try out Le Cellier. BTW, Le Cellier lives us to the hype for us as well...it is one of 4 restaurants that are must dos for us and wouldn't be a Disney vacation without dining there. Have a great trip regardless.

It's your vacation - why stress over a restaurant you aren't sure you and your husband will really enjoy?

We like Le Cellier, but you can easily make the cheddar soup and pretzel bread at home. These are really the most unique things on the menu - which isn't saying too much for a steak place! We picked Yachstman over Le Cellier last time and would definitely do so in the future.

I'd LOVE to eat at California Grill, but the menu has yet to appeal to either of us, so we have yet to eat there. We haven't eaten at CRT since it was King Stefan's Banquet Hall for the same reason.

Thanks, y'all! I think I'll keep the ADR for now, only because canceling it means absolutely no chance of eating there. With 7 in our party, it's hard to get ADRs at some places, and I've already looked to see if we could book Le Cellier another day and nothing is open. So I'll keep it and let my family decide whether they want to leave the resort that day for lunch, or fly by the seat of our pants. I can't imagine it'd be difficult to get last minute ADRs at Captain's Grille, and there's always HH and B&C. And, too, if we're going to walk away from the resort anyway, we won't have been to Boardwalk yet and we could take a walk over there to eat at ESPN Club.

But, for now, I'll keep it b/c I know my dd would enjoy it; but I'll also let the family know that it's totally an open day so we can choose NOT to do it.
