To Hop? Or Not?

We like the flexibility. AK and DHS aren't full day parks for us. And...no matter what park we start out in, we usually end up in EP for dinner.

We didn't get hoppers on this last trip and didn't miss it. We did not have any table service dinners planned in the parks though. If we are going to do TS in the parks we get hoppers.

For me I don't hop Becuase of a few things:

1. The time wasted traveling from one park to another eats my park time.

2. The added cost just didn't seem worth it for me.

3. I feel like when I have a park day it's sorta deticated to that park and if I find I did all the stuff I try to find things about the parks I haven't done yet

Again there's plenty of good reasons to hop but for me I haven't gotten there yet :p

So do you always plan your fast passes for the morning/afternoon? Do you not find the evening wait times to be long?

We do always make the FP for late morning or early afternoon and I do it for several reasons.

First, I do love the way Disney "used to be" when you could just get up and go to whichever park you feel like. I am able to enjoy this freedom by having my evenings free. I don't worry about hitting the headliners in the evening as I know I'll have FP for them at another time. We just walk around and take in the entire experience and hit some of the less popular attractions. (Luckily, my DH and I have been to Disney many, many times and we know our way around pretty well. In addition, I used to teach kindergarten in FL and had annual passes and would go every weekend for many years.)

Second, and more importantly, I'm never sure how my son is going to react to the activities and the heat. We take him to Disney every year and don't feel like we need to see it all. There are some days where he is just overstimulated and we need to just take it easy and either swim or walk around our resort.

I like the option to hop if a park feels crowded or to hit up EMH and go to a different park later. If I stay on Crescent Lake it's not uncommon for me to hit up DS in the am, Epcot for dinner, then monorail over to MK for evening EMH!

Last May our Park Hoppers were invaluable! My grandchildren 13, 11, and 8 discovered Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom They needed to go to MK everyday to collect new cards and play a little. They absolutely loved the game!

We got hoppers for the first time for our upcoming trip primarily for this reason. We're staying at YC, and F&G was extended through our stay. We plan to hop to Epcot for dinner on our HS and AK days at least.

That will be awesome! The walk back to YC after Epcot is really short and peaceful.

We park hop. Not every day but several days, we will come back to our resort and swim and then go to a different park in the evening.

We have never done park hoppers before, but we added them for our trip this upcoming August.

Reasons:
1) Staying at Beach Club - close to Epcot entrance, so easy to duck in there for food if we are at the resort
2) We are doing parks for 5 days. My plan was 2 at MK and Epcot, 1 at AK. While I love HS, I did not feel it was worth a whole day. So probably doing a morning there and then doing Epcot for afternoon / evening

The other option was to add another day to our ticket, but that would involve adding another night's stay and the food, etc.

We shall see how it goes
