We are going to disney in August and have 7 day non-hopping tickets. It would be an additional $164 (total) to change all our tickets to hopping. Any thoughts? Is it worth the money? Help????? I can't decide. In case it matters...the trip is for my, my husband, 4 year old daughter and 2 17-year old's (babysitter and babysitter's friend)

We have only been once, but we used our "hopping" option almost every day. We really liked having the flexibility of going to a different park in the evenings, and we didn't have to make sure we were in the same park as our ADRs all the time.

It really depends on how you want to visit the parks. Some people hop all the time, some don't hop at all. I had park hoppers last October, and didn't hop at all. Therefore, for my upcoming trip, I didn't think it was worth the extra money to pay for a feature I wasn't going to use. I, instead, thought it was worth it to add an extra day to our trip, which cost less than adding the hopping feature. To me, it really is a personal preference.

We will not be hopping. 5 in our group as well. Based on touring plans and avoiding EMH parks, we didn't find it necessary. I actually like the idea of going to a park asap in the am, taking an afternoon break, then going back to the same park the same day so my brain recalls what we need to cover easier. Plus if I see somthing I want to buy, I'll wait til later on to get it, if it is still wanted, (avoiding the impulse buys) :cool1: LOL.

If you plan on utlizing the Evening Extra Magic Hours - remember you must already be in that park without the park hopper option.

We used the park hopper this June. We would start out in the Park with the early morning hours and then head back to the resort for lunch, swimming and a nap and then head back to the park with the evening extra magic hours for dinner and fun.

The same park does not have both morning & evening extra magic hours on the same day. It might be AK in the morning and MGM in the evening.

It is really is a personal choice, you might want to visit only one park each day.

Have fun whatever you decide.

Thanks for all the great info. Can you clarify your response?

What does that mean???

Thanks.

We had the Park Hopper tickets in May (DH insisted), however we really didn't hop much - only 3 of 7 days and only when we had gone from one park back to our resort for DS2's nap then headed to a different park after the nap or during the last days of the trip when we felt we had done all we had planned for one park and wanted to go to another. I don't think it was worth it for us. :sunny:

We hop almost all the time. Typically, we visit a park in the morning then head back to the room to relax or pool, then later in the afternoon or early evening head for Epcot.

We feel suffocated if we can't hop!

It frees up our option to go where we want, when we want.

If I were going to be in the parks for 7 days, I would use park hopping. I've utilized it in the past. For my upcoming trip, I'm not because we only have 4 park days and since it is my kid's first time and they'll want to see EVERYTHING (NOT possible in only 4 days, I know), I decided it wasn't worth it to park hop.

Also, with small kids, I won't be doing early morning and late hours in the same day anyway - they'd just be too exhausted to extend out the morning AND evening. And the AK day (it closes pretty early in September), we'll just use the pool at the resort that evening to relax and get ready for our early morning the next day.

We used to hop every trip but this time seems we hopped only once.We started at one park leave and return for the evening to the same park.

Never thought about not hopping. We like to hop...and do it everyday, everytime. Especially with the meal plan...we hop all over the place.

I like to hop also, I can't imagine 'just' going to one park per day. On my last trip (BC-before children) there were a few days that I hit all 4 parks in a single day.

:rotfl2: us too, must have control!!!!!

It also helps since AK closes early, we can do that park early, take a break and head out to another park for the later hours. I like variety.

It depends on your touring style. I went last October and hopped every day for seven days (but we usually ended each day at the food and wine festival at Epcot). I like the flexibility hopping offers. As another poster said, it's great during the times of year when park hours are shorter. In October, AK closes early (5:00 pm) and we liked to be able to go to another park later in the evening.

That said, you can always add the hopper option after your arrival. (I mistakenly forgot to add the hopper option to my tickets when I pre-ordered them, so I added it when I arrived my first day.) If you find you want the flexibility the hopper provides, you can add it after you arrive.

If you do not have the park hopper option on your ticket and you were at lets say EPCOT in the morning, you would not be able to go to MK for evening extra magic hours.

Is this new? We hopped for EMH last October in MGM without having previously been in that park.

Unless this is different because we have AP.

I think APs have the hopper feature. The MYW tickets do not automatically have the hopper feature unless you buy it and if you do not buy it, you cannot go to more then one park in one day. The computer at the gates will not let you. Even if you have extra days that you are willing to burn to enter a second park in the same day, without hoppers, it won't let you.

Disney thought of everything.

When I go with sis in Sept we won't have the hopper as we will only be there 4 days. In Oct when Dh and I go for 6 days we plan on hopping mainly because the restaurants we want to go to the most for dinner each night are in either MK or Epcot.

For a short vist, park hopping isn't neccessary, but where your there for 7 days, I would definitely take the option.

By day 5 or 6, you seem to only want to hit the favs, so I found it hard to spend 2 full days in any one park.
