Part 2 Sunday October 21
Eeyore: my DH, best friend, night owl, ends up having late night wildlife rendezvous.
Jaxtrip: me, wife, best friend, pops out of bed in the morning like a piece of toast out of a toaster, trip planner, lurker on DIS for ~6 months.
3:40AM Tent site
Eeyore and Jaxtrip wake to rustling of leaves/pine needles outside. Jaxtrip (thanks to DIS and previous trips to FW) is pretty sure it is an armadillo but Eeyore, the night owl that he is, is convinced that he needs to see what is shaking the bushes 2 feet from our sleeping heads. Eeyore spends the next 10 -20 minutes staring out the tent window. Jaxtrip tries hand him the flashlight, reaches over to pick it up and can't find the on button. In Jaxtrip's sleepy maze, a water bottle doesn't have an on button.
In Eeyore's sleepy maze it is a must to see this animal. He tries a real flashlight and it blinded by the reflection off the screen window and the armadillo escapes back into the FW Wilderness. Jaxtrip falls back asleep. All's well that ends well.
7:05AM SCREECH! Bus brakes.
We get up, shower, eat poptarts and juice at site and head off around 9:05 to the Magic Kingdom by boat!
It's a beautiful morning, we get over to MK by 9:15. Turn in our AP vouchers for the real things and head in!
Side note: December 1999 we were able to visit Disneyland twice and now I tend to confuse the parks just a little. Walking down main street, Eeyore looking for some 'real breakfast' so I'm trying to spy the Bakery. (We are on the right side of the street.) Jaxtrip is getting confused b/c we are almost at the end of the street and I don't see the Bakery on the left side. Then, I look up and there it is on the right side of the street right above our heads! Duh, Jaxtrip realizes that the Bakery is on the left in DL, on the right in DW. We peek in and it's packed anyway. No thanks and we move on.
It's off to Aladdin's Magic Carpet ride, walk on. Wheeeeeeee! Camel spit?
I thought it was fun!
Then we do Swiss Family Treehouse. Now Eeyore has DL flashback. "Did they change this back to Swiss Family from Tarzan? I'm surprised." Jaxtrip thinks for a moment, then realizes that this Treehouse probably has always been Swiss Family, we are confused with DL again.
On Tiki Room, POC, Country Bear Jamboree, and then lunch at Pecos Bill. I had chicken wrap (good!) and root beet float. Eeyore has double cheeseburger. It's gone completely so I guess it was good too!
Now it starts to rain. Spurts of mist at first, an umbrella here and there but mostly guests are walking through it squinting. I prep the ponchos for use and we head to Fantasyland via a few shops. We do Pooh, Small World, Teacups, skip Peter Pan this time
and move on to Tomorrowland. We do Speedway (a first for Jaxtrip) with light drizzle. Then we move to TTA for our last ride in MK. We chill out at Plaza Pavilion (one of my favorite resting places) and enjoy a snack. Dark clouds gather around the Castle and it really starts to pour. Some Guests scurry to umbrellas while others plod along in ponchos. Then trend of the guests is towards the front gate (the Parade was not officially cancelled yet). After a wait and rest, it looks like the rain isn't going to stop, we decide to head back to the tent to see how it's holding up and to take a nap. Just as we hit Main Street, it is announced that the parade is cancelled. Most guests seem to take it in stride and head deeper into the park. We head for the boat back to FW. Nice ride back. By the time we make it back to site, rain becomes a drizzle. We take a nap.
Up at 5:30. Still raining. We decide to scrap Epcot plans for the evening and head to DD for dinner and a movie. Planet Hollywood (a Jaxtrip favorite) and Iron Monkey later, we head back to campsite. We stay up a few minutes with our battery operated light just to show the RVers that we are not deterred by the rain, then we flop back on our air mattress again for the night.
