Okay...I was looking at this as a really great opportunity to take a short-notice "budget" trip with my DD. :hyper:

Then DH comes along and points out that it isn't budget-minded because even though it's relatively inexpensive, I'm still spending money that I hadn't planned to spend!

Great airfares have been released for next month...I can get two round-trip tickets, non-stop both ways, for DD and I for 211.40 TOTAL. (DD is just shy of two, so half price still.)

WDW is running that resort special, and I can get 5 nights at ASMo for 310.75 TOTAL.

I still have days left on our hopper passes from February, so wouldn't need to buy any park passes.

I would still need to figure the cost of meals and transportation from MCO to ASMo.

So...do I go? Or not? We don't have another Disney trip scheduled until 2006...a LONG way off.

I say "Go for it" although I don't know how this unplanned expense will affect your overall budget. It seems like a great deal even with the food and airport transportation. What a wonderful chance for a Mom/Daughter adventure.

Not to bring anyone down, but with all the losses I've experienced in my life, I think it's important to enjoy life as you go along. Of course, you need to be sensible and put money away for the long term but I remember too well how my mother and her siblings felt about the money they'd inherited from my grandparents (GPs). All would much rather have had GPs use the money for themselves rather worry about having money to leave to their kids.

Don't, though, go into major debt for something that you don't have to do now. I've found the stress of the debt eats away at my enjoyment of what I spent the money on. For my DD and my upcoming WDW trip, all the money is in the bank now (plus more for "just in case") and all CCs will be paid off in full with the first statement I receive.

Well, to give more information to you and anyone else who'd like to offer their opinions, while I don't have tons of extra money laying around (I wish  ) I wouldn't be going into debt at all for this trip. I do have enough "spare" saved up to pay for it...though DH says maybe I should put it towards the cruise we have booked for next year. I figure I still have an entire year to pay off the cruise...shouldn't be a problem, and I may not have a chance to go to WDW for this price again. UGH.

We're taking a ""budget" trip too in October. I have days left on hoppers too. I used a timeshare exchange which cost me very little. We are drving because I refuse to fly. I bought tickets to MNSHP already and am ebaying and using that to pay for other expenses. We are expecting baby # 3 in Febraury and if we don;t go now I don;t want to wait a couple of years to go again. So I would say go because it's Disney and we all need a little magic. Good luck planning!

This is about more than money. Don't go if it's going to cause problems between you and your DH. A Disney trip (as great as it may be) is just not worth that!

Best wishes -

He says he doesn't mind, really! He'd rather I take her and go alone than "make" him go along, LOL. He'll be grumbling for the next year because he says the kids and I are "making" him go on the cruise. (I originally had it booked for just the kids and I, but we all really want him to go along, so we talked him into it.) I think he's the only person I know who doesn't like vacations.

In that case (FWIW), I vote for going - you seem to have the costs covered and no big worries about paying for the cruise.

I say go for it!! You only live once and you really want to enjoy your life. I am sure that both you and your husband work hard and you deserve to take that trip if you want.
