Hi

Not sure what to do really. When do you think it will be best to go to Florida.

I will be taking my 5 yr old girl and twin boys. My dh will be coming as well, but then again I will should call him a child aswell lol.......

I went this yr in May and the weather was really hot, but the crowds wasnt too bad. We have to go term time only really, but we wont go peak summer it is isnt fair on our twin boys.

Another reason my mind is swinging is the recent events of the hurricanes and wouldnt want the same thing to happen next yr and we will be affected by all the clear up. I know this really does sound cruel to think these, considering I am not living there and have not had my house destroyed. The same time we have saved up for so long wouldnt want anything to spoil it.

I am terrible for thinking that!!!

We've been a few times in October - it's our favourite time to visit. Having said that, we haven't been in May, so I can't compare the two!

Octobers when we've been there have been great for weather - warm mornings and evenings and very warm / hot days. Little or no rain. We had a couple of days one year which would count as 'stormy, with wind and rain', but have not experienced anything remotely like the hurricanes recently seen there, or seen any evidence of damage. However, October is included in the Hurricane Season, so it's certainly not impossible.

Crowds in October seem to be increasing from the historically low season, especially during the Epcot Food and Wine Festival and Halloween - crowds can be quite heavy for these. If you've been before, you have the advantage of knowing which attractions are 'must dos' for you, and can plan accordingly.

Have fun deciding ;)

I hate hot and humid weather and it really put me off going to Florida before the kids arrived as I had been told of the stifling heat and humidity at certain times of the year. So imagine my relief when in October '97 the weather was a constant 80-85 degrees and just a few showers to keep you cool in the afternoon and it's virtually been like that ever since. The crowds seem to be managable as I sont think the lines are as long as they are at peak periods.
So a vote for October here, but everone to their own.

We always go the first two weeks of May and just love it. The Flower and Garden show is usually at Epcot, something special going on for Mother's Day, Star Wars weekend. I find the weather not too bad. After being cold all winter living in Michigan it is a joy to get off the plane into some warmth!! The crowds aren't bad either at that time of year. And there usually is some good codes to take advantage of for the hotel rates!! I would definitely choose May.::yes::

I can't comment on May, but we went last October & the first couple of days were quite humid, but otherwise it was excellent, especially MNSSHP and the start of the food & wine festival (by far the most crowded park whilst we were there). If you are looking for next October half term I'd put your skates on as aot of people have already booked or are finding it difficult to get the dates & times they require!!!

We've been in May and Oct and I really cant say which one I prefer. They both appeal to me, weather and crowd wise.
I think there is slightly more to do in Oct with the F&W festival, MNSSHP and such.

Good Luck deciding.

we find may best time we uasaly go the last week or last 2.May is warm enougth for water parks for DW (has to be warm in the air for her)We have been in Oct and its ok for us in the water but DW says its too cold ( she prefers the august heat when you have to go in the water to cool down). The huracane season is end of may to end of oct i think luckily we have mised a few Andrew in 92 i think left before it hit Floyd in 99 arived the week after. charley landed on the day it hit this year nearky had fkight canceled but we flew to miami insted by the time we got there it had pased over the state .Crowds prefer May to oct

I've been 5 times in Oct and going again in 2 weeks. I love MNSSHP and we've always had good weather in when we've visited. Although last year was the first year I'd experienced mosquito bites - not pleasant - but it hasn't put me off for sure!

Have been both in May and October, both good times to visit and very similar as regards climate and crowds.

Would say possibly a bit cooler in October, we have been in May when temps. supposed to average around the mid 80s but at times it's been over 90 degrees.
Very little rainfall in Oct.

We have booked for both March and August next year, will be our first time during the summer months but as our son gets a little older it becomes harder taking him out of school especially as my wife now works as a teacher.

I am sure whichever you choose it will be great, I would just favour October - you will have to wait longer though!

We went in October the last two years (due to School holidays rather than by choice) and we're due to go back in 2 weeks time.

To be honest the weather is not the best for us (we like it hot and humid especially for the water parks) but the food and wine festival at Epcot is definitely worth experiencing. Also, MNSSHP is a 'must do' if you have younger children.

We went in May a few years ago and I have to say that it was my favourite time with the weather regularly in the mid 90's (that year anyway) and it went over a 100 on one particular day. Great for swimming and lounging about but not standing in line for a 2 minute ride!

Hi

Thanks for all of your advice.

We are going to have a look later on when my boys have thier nap and get a couple of quotes and see what time we want to go.

Sorry to be think but what is MNSSHP???? I have tried working it out, but just cant think what it is.

Thanks again,

Michelle

MNSSHP = Mickey's Not So Scarey Halloween Party!!

It takes place at Magic Kingdom, I'm sure others here will be able to tell you more! I have yet to go, however, we have just changed our dates for next years holiday and are now going October 2005 so I'll be visiting it then!

Have fun deciding! :)

Hi

Thanks for telling me. It sounds like fun. I have just been on WDW site and it looks great.

I noticed these are seperate tickets. Are these limited tickets? If so would I need to purchase these before I went.

This has definately made me choose October. Never experienced this before and Casey loves Halloween. Especially trick or treating with the characters it sounds so sweet.

Thanks again sorry to keep asking q's.

Hi Michelle

That is one of the reasons that we are going in October to do MNSSHP :)

I booked my tickets very easily. I rang WDW and ordered them over the phone, that way I knew I had them:D

I think so far only the 31st is sold out for this year, we are going the 26th Oct.
There is a great thread here with some great info.
Some more info can be found here too

:)

We love October. Been 5 times and going again in 3 weeks, weather lovely and parks not too busy. Cannot comment on any other months as only been in October.
