To Go in Sept or Oct?

Is there really a big difference between crowds in Sept and the beginning of Oct and is the weather much hotter in Sept? We're going to be taking little ones out of school either way for a couple of weeks and are trying to decide which month is more desirable. I'll be going w/ my sister and her family and she's concerned that it will be too soon to take her son (starting kindergarden) out of school in sept and that waiting until the first weeks of October will be better for him. Any thoughts on this?
Thank you!

We have been at the end of Sept before and the beginning of Oct. Sept is a little less crowed but the beginning of Oct wasnt bad either (and that was with the fairytale package). Mid to later Oct will be more crowded. Both were hot.

If I had a choice, I would take October. We always go in September because it is my twins' birthday. We go on the Disney Cruise and then visit the parks.

BUT, I would think October is a little cooler AND I would LOVE to attend Mickey's Not So Scary Holloween Party (which is in October).

My girls love going on thier birthday, and don't want to wait a month later, so I will probably never get to attend that event (maybe with grandchildren one day :D ). But if I could, I would go in October instead just so I could experience that event.
