We are headed to Frankenmuth this fall and are looking for something new to experience. We are coming from the Cleveland area. We always stop at Cabela's in Dundee. Anything else on the way that is worth a stop???

How long do you want to be delayed? I always enjoy the Toledo Zoo. When the weather is cooler the animals always seem more active.

Also, maybe Ann Arbor. I don't know who you are traveling with, but they have a fantastic Hands on Museum (Children's), a cool botanical garden and lots of great restuarants.

If you have children with you, Greenfield Village is definitely worth a stop! The Henry Ford Museum is right next door. We did a trip to Frankenmuth from the Akron-Canton area a few years back and had a great time. We stopped at Cabela's on the way, went up to Frankenmuth and then hit Greenfield Village on the way back. We didn't have time for the Henry Ford Museum but I know others who have gone and said it was worth the stop...Have a great time! :goodvibes

I'm originally from Toledo (born, raised and lived there up until 3 years ago) and I also recommend the zoo!

If you go after Thanksgiving, they have the Lights Before Christmas display which is awesome! But the zoo itself is really nice. Not as big as Cleveland's zoo (and wayyy flatter..lol), but still rated one of the best in the country.

And if you have a pass for Cleveland zoo (love this zoo too!) you can get in either half price or free (not sure what it is these days).

The Toledo Museum of Art is great too , if you're into that.

Crossroads Village & the Huckleberry Railroad is also a great place to visit. They are just north of Flint.

I just vist the outlet mall in birch run about 15 min from FM

Thanks everyone....we love the Toledo Zoo, been quite a few times.

The Huckleberry looks interesting but we are going in November.

We considered Greenfield Village/Henry Ford but it's kind of pricey for 5 of us.

How about having a meal at Tony Packos, in Toledo? The place made famous by Jamie Farr in the old TV series MASH. Food is cheap and plentiful!

Its actually the same exit. There is a light at the end of the exit...turn right to go to Frankenmuth, turn left to go to Birch Run. It's just on the other side of the freeway.

I say skip Cabelas and check out the new Bass Pro Shops in Toledo. Right off the turnpike. Much nicer and cool to check out.

ok tells you how far past outlet mall I make it LOL. Yes Tonys is awasome.

We have never been to Frankenmuth and are looking for somewhere to go in a couple of weeks. Where is a good place to stay? Has anyone stayed at Zehnder's Splash Village Hotel & Waterpark?

We have stayed at Splash Village. It is a nice hotel. I would say that the waterpark is on the smaller side compared to places like Kalahari and seems more suited to younger kids. They have regular rooms and family suite type of rooms. We stayed in the family suite type room. It had a sitting area seperated by a half wall from the sleeping area. These rooms are the newer ones. They also had a bus that took you to Zehnders restaurant. Don't forget to visit Bronners which is right across the parking lot. Lots and lots of Christmas decor!

Have you been to the Christmas Story house? I think its in Cleveland?
My parents just did a trip from here NJ and stopped at The Christmas Story House , Rock and Roll hall of Fame, The Longaburger Basket place, bronners christmas store, Frankenmuth and one other place that I can't recall. I am still really bent they went to the christmas story house without me!
