DH and I think we may be pregnant, and the first thing I thought of is if so, baby will be between 2 and 3 months old, how young is too young? We are going with my parents so it will make it easier because DH and DF ride everything, I ride to an extent and DM rides nothing but soarin'. Will this trip still be doable? The past trips we normally go back to the room about lunch time and return for dinner just because of crowds and we want it to be somewhat of a vaca. Our trip is currently planned for late sept or early to mid oct. All opinions are welcome (just don't let this get nasty for thinking of taking a 2 month old to disney please):goodvibes

I will be taking a six week old to disney at christmas, I think its doable

I think it is very doable. Babies that age are very portable, and will likely just go with the flow. If you are breastfeeding, it will be much easier as you won't have to worry about taking along bottles and formula.
I would invest in a good sling as baby may not like riding around in a stroller, and you can still go on a lot of rides while baby is being carried without ever having to get her/him out.
Congrats and good luck.

I would say the later in the year the better. Those sling things are HOT (I never liked them anyway, they killed my back) and babies under 6 months don't do a good job of sweating so they get overheated and will actually run a fever if it's too hot.

The only negative comments you are going to get are:
1- the baby will be exposed to all kinds of nasty germs from all over the world

and
2-what if you have complications or a c-section? Will you feel like hiking all over WDW so soon after giving birth? Particularly considering you will most likely NOT be getting much sleep at night??

Personally, I couldn't have done it that soon, but I never had grandparents who could come along and help.

I do agree with the breastfeeding idea....it is best anyway. But mine nursed so often those first few months the entire vacation for me would be spent in the nursing center:confused3

We took a 6 week old with us, way back when! (He's 15 now!) My parents were with us as well and it was actually really easy! He was the first grandchild on both sides and my parents wouldn't hardly let us hold him at all, they were so in love with him (and still are).

I didn't use a sling. The baby care centers are wonderfully quiet places to feed a little one, too.

Have fun!

I'll be taking my dd next month. She'll be 2 1/2 months.

As far as the breastfeeding-My dd just turned 2 mos old and I feel like I'm a pro by now. The first few weeks were hard but it just got easier and easier. Now, if she's hungry when we're out and about I feel confident to sit down and discreetly nurse her where ever we are. It only takes her about 5 minutes for her to eat so when we're at WDW we'll have to take short breaks every few hours but that's not such a bad thing. Maybe I'll notice some things that I would have been too busy to notice before. And if a Baby Care center is close I'll go there to nurse-otherwise any bench or sidewalk space will work. I'm not worried in the slightest about it.

If you can I would wait as late as possible in the year to take your baby. Babies can over heat so quickly, I think I'd be scared to take a baby in Sept unless I stayed at the resort the vast majority of the day.

Find a good baby carrier. You may need to try several out. I have about 5 different ones that I've been trying since my dd was born and have decided on 2 to bring with us. The moby wrap (she loves to be in a wrap) and a Beco Butterfly carrier. The Beco I decided on because you can easily front or back carry an infant. Really easy to put on and has quite a bit of back support. I've been carrying my dd so much in anticipation of our Disney trip that now it feels kind of weird when I'm not carrying her.

Lele,

First of all congrats!!:yay:

We took our daughter (now 13 mos) to Disney for the first time for 3 days/2 nts when she was 2-1/2 months old. We had a wonderful time! It was just me and my DH, the baby and our other DD (5). She pretty much stayed in her stroller/infant seat the whole time sleeping or just staring around. She loved the fresh air and just being outside. I did bring my Baby Bjorn and she was very happy in that. We made sure we just took it easy and explained to our DD that we couldn't do everything. (We never do anyways, we are AP holders, so she is used to us taking our time in the parks.)

As far as rides, we took her on Peter Pan, Buzz, Snow White, etc. I took her on the WDW Railroad a couple of times around while my DD and DH tackled SM and BTMR. It was very relaxing! The rides that she couldn't go on, my DH and I just alternated with my DD. I am a people watcher though, so I enjoyed just hanging out w/ the baby.

We stayed at POR and loved the room (Alligator Bayou). The first night we were there was actually the first time she slept through the night! I took this as a good sign, a true Disney baby! :woohoo:

We did use the baby care center - USE IT, it's wonderful! And we ate a late lunch/early dinner at Columbia Harbor House upstairs. It was empty and we were able to stretch out and relax. I could feed the baby and we all had some down time.

I never got those "I can't believe she has a little baby at Disney World" looks, mostly just oohs and aahs. I did have a few people wanting to touch her, but I just had to say sorry! Stitch did tickle her toes, though!

As far as weather, it will probably still be pretty warm. But just dress the baby cool and you'll be fine. Maybe a blanket in the evenings or bring jammies to change the baby in to.

I don't think we did AK, just MK and MGM. Maybe Epcot, but I would have to look. We have been several times w/ the baby, and we have never had a problem. She is very easygoing, so that probably helps. She loves going now, pointing at Mickey and loves all the lights at night. Honestly, it was easier and more leisurely bringing her when she was a 2-1/2 mos old, b/c now she walks!:scared1: But I can't complain, she's good!:goodvibes

Hope this helps you decide! Good luck!

Thank you all very much, DH thought I was crazy when i made the statement of at least I won't be preggo at disney. I really don't think it will be a problem. My mom will be more than happy to watch her while we ride since she ride nothing but soarin'. It will be their 3rd grandchild, but my bro has the other 2 and the most they ever see them is 2 or 3 times a year b/c he's in the army and currently in lousianna. She will be estatic when she finds out about us! I have always said i would breastfeed as long and mother nature and baby would allow, but if not we'll work it in. I carried dh nephew in a sling when he was a baby and it was very comfortable so that would be a good thing, then hopsfully people won't be trying to touch baby so much (nothing against any of you out there lol) Thank ya'll again for you comments, this def seemd doable, hopefully dh will feel the same;)

The only caution I would give is the weather...we took DD the first week of October last year for her 1st birthday and it was just miserable a couple of days. Definitely be prepared for something like that, thankfully there's lots of air conditioned spots.

The other thing to think about is sleeping arrangements. Disney resorts mostly offer pack & plays, which wouldn't be good for an infant that small (no bassinet insert). Folks have reported being able to get travel cribs from Mousekeeping by request, but again the mattress would be too low for such a little one. There are a couple of companies in the Orlando area who rent travel gear for babies, I've never used them but perhaps others could make a recommendation? Another option to consider would be a "sleep nest" that you could put in the middle of the bed. We used one for DD at three months when we drove to my parents for Christmas and had to stop for the night at the halfway point. It worked pretty well and I was able to share a queen size bed with her without worrying about rolling over on top of her in the middle of the night.

With the grandparents to help WDW with an infant really is pretty easy. There are days I wish I could go back...DD is a full-throttle toddler now. :faint:

Just wanted to let you know, if you do end up with c-section, you should be fine at 2 1/2 months. Had one with DS and will this time (18 days!!!) and we are taking our then 3 mos old in Feb.

And I second the germ thing. People will ooh and ahh and want to touch their hands and such. Don't be afaid to ask people NOT to touch the baby. I know they are being nice, but (s)he will not have a strong immune system yet, and this is an easy way to protect them.

But other than that, we have been taking our kids since our oldest was 6 mos old (he's 5 now) and have always loved it! Have fun and congrats!

We used the Baby Bjorn, but I was uninformed with all the better carriers out there at the time. I later made my own wrap at mamatoto.org. It was no sew! Then when she was 1 I bought an ERGO carrier.

i had thought about the heat issue, but I figure we will def have stoller and carrier that he/she can lay in, and i have also seen stoller clip on fans that could create a breeze, and always cool outfits (the one piece bottom snap) for he/she. I hadn't thought about the c-section concept, but if that is the case it would be about time for me to go back to work anyways, and I work for my hospitals ambulance service, so it would be compable to work except it would be more on my pace. Thank you for everyones comments anymore or welcome to provide input, you can never have to many sugestion or opinions!:flower3:

So have you tested? When will you find out?

I forgot to add before, we will staying hopefully at bonnet creek and if not there it will be orange grove, so we will have the capabilites to take pak-n-play with infant insert since we are driving.

I have taking 2 home test. The first, taken wed 10/22,had a VERY VERY faint positive line, and the second, taken today 10/25, had NOTHING. So I'll probubly wait until the end of next week to take another and see what that does. Although i have started having SEVERE lower abd cramps and sharp pains today, and pains in my side and lower back for about 3 days so if that persist I may be going to the doc. (I never have cramps on my period)

I took my youngest DD at 9 days old and she was fine. I loved the People Mover ride for breastfeeding. I would get on and nurse and they would let me stay on as long as I needed.

I really hope and pray that everything is fine, but please see a Dr. I had the same positive, then negative and sharp pains a few years ago, and it was an ectopic pregnancy. See a doctor just to make sure everything is going okay.

We took DD at 2 1/2 months and it was fine. Really, she was easier than my other DD (then 3).
I agree with the suggestion of the "nest" thing. We had something like that and I kept her in bed with me or DH and the other one of us slept with other DD in the other bed. We stayed in DVC so there was a fridge and microwave in the room which was good. As for the parks, we just brought bottles and the "travel" single serve powder packs of formula and bought a water bottle there to mix it in with. We had brought baby water with the flouride for all other feedings at the hotel, but the bottled waters worked fine for the parks. She pretty much either slept in the stroller the whole time or was held on our laps on the easy rides. I got some looks about the whole "taking" a baby to WDW, but I didn't care. We do disney enough that we really were very comfortable there with her.
Good luck with your test!

I'm pretty comfortable with "the looks". i feel like no matter what i do, i will get them plenty b/c nothing against any of you, but some people seem to think your life should stop when you have kids. I on the other hand don't.

I agree about calling the doctor. I had the faint line then later no line and awful cramping experience as well and I called the doctor and they said to go to the ER. It turned out it was a normal miscarriage :( but there was concern about an ectopic pregnancy. I did get pregnant again two months later with my son. Take care of yourself! :wizard:

How are you feeling today? The faint line is a positive, no matter how faint, but the second negative could mean either you didn't have as much hormone in your urine (first morning urine is best) or your hormone levels were declining. If you are having a miscarriage, you'll know it. It feels like the most painful period you've ever experienced. To me, it almost felt as bad as labor, but a lot sadder.

I hope everything turns out well.

Oh, are the sharp pains constant or just when you stretch out? I get the stretch out ones when preggie due to the fact my body is changing inside and the muscles don't like it. Cramping is normal, but I wouldn't call it severe, just uncomfortable.

Thank you all for your concern, it is much appreciated:hug: After my episode yesterday, I could tell I obviously seemed really bad when d/h came in and found me on the bathroom floor and immediatly said we need to go to the dr.

When i went to get in the tub yesterday, It was a sharp stabing pain across my lower abd that lasted about 10 or 15 mins max. Then throughout the night while i was at work I had a couple strong getting ready to start my period cramps but overall just more of an achy cramp. I didn't sleep but about 3 hours today so I'm anxious to see what it's going to be like tonight. Right now it's just the achy cramp.

I have decided to go to the dr. I'm going tuesday, so we shall see what's going on. I'll let you all know.:grouphug:
