To Earl of Sandwich or not to Earl?

lookingforward said:
My parents took my kids and evacuated from Hurricane Wilma to WdW last month. I told my mom to try Earl of Sandwich for an inexpensive meal with the kids. We, in all our MANY trips to WDW have never tried this place but the disboard members raved about it. My mom (not knowing was the heck "disboard members" meant) was not that thrilled with the idea but decided to give it a try. She called me up and said that this restaurant was amazing! She loved it and said that it was the best sandwich she had ever had. I can't wait to try for myself in December! By the way, my mom had the sandwich with brie cheese, I think.

Glad to hear our advice was helpful to your mom, even if she doesn't know who the heck we are! :rotfl:

We love EOS, and will make a special trip to DTD just to eat there!

Here's another vote for EOS. I tried the turkey sandwhich and it was out of this world! :lovestruc We definatly plan on going back to Earl's!

It's settled! I was debating whether or not to eat there when I go in Dec, and now thanks to all of the great reviews, I will have to try Earl of Sandwich!

Funny that you should post this. We wanted to go so badly on this trip and could not figure out for the longest time were to fit it in, so since we plan to dine at DTD at RFC before we head home, we decided that we will stop by the Earl of Sandwich for a couple of sandwiches for the road home. After reading all of the replies to my post,it appears that many of us really like Earl of Sandwich. Thanks for replying to my post.Looking forward to my next experience at Earl's.

We always go there at least twice during our trips. "Cheap" food for WDW, yummy and convenient. Caprese fan here.

I love the Earl! Last time I had the Frenchy. Very yummy! Also, their icecream sandwiches rock! (I ate it before my sandwich! ;) )

My family LOVES the Earl. It's our "We're really at WDW tradition". It's the first thing we do, once we've checked in. We get a "bite to eat" at Earl- I get the Chicken, hubby gets club and my daughter gets the PB&J. We love the sandwiches. It's the thing that lets us know we're in the Magic Kingdom!!!

Earl is very yummy, *but* my DDs don't like it b/c the sandwiches are "roasty" so they won't eat them. :( Fortunately, at 9 & 7 they will eat a salad, though, so I still get my All American!

I agree. DH and I thought the sandwiches were great and different. Plus, I think it was our cheapest meal yet. :)

As everyone has said EOS is a great place to eat!!

I like that they are always trying new stuff as well. A few weeks ago they were running a trial of of Tomato Soup. The trial must have gone well as now it is a permanent part of their menu. What makes it even better is that is is only 95 cents!!

I ate there this evening and it looks like they are trying out baked potatoes - again just 95 cents. I'm not sure if these will stay - mine was not very hot and the potato was a little hard - even after 2 tries - but it was very tasty. Maybe they will get the 'kinks' worked out and it will be a permanent addition as well.

We have the menu for EOS right on the DIS - you can go to this page

http://www.wdwinfo.com/downtown/marketplace/index.htm#Dining and scroll down to Earl Of Sandwich and click on Menu.

Enjoy

After trying it in October we WILL be back on future trips...even had to bring 4 in the car for the drive home!!!

I totally agree! We were there twice on our visit last week. I love the Caprese sandwich as well! But I really cannot say I have had a bad sandwich there; we have tried at least half of them. Great place!

We at there for the first time last month. It was very good! After eating for 12 days straight of table service type food it was so nice to get a good sandwich! We plan on eating there next week when we go back to WDW.

I stop at Earl of Sandwich every couple of weeks, usually for a smoothie and side salad. I love the Cannonballs, but can only eat half a sandwhich at a time, so I only do that if I'm heading home or somewhere with a fridge for the other half. :)

We tried it last month and agree- Earl!
DD and I shared the special of the day, shrimp sammie, I forget what hubby had, and picky youngest dd had the kid's grilled cheese. I wasn't sure if she would eat it since it's not a regular GC, but she's a big bread fan and loved it. We got the side salad and tomato soup (which tasted homemade) to share and both were delish. This place is yummy and a great bargain! We'll def. return!
