To dining plan or not

I am so confused, I am almost in tears.....


We are going the week of Thanksgiving.. so no free dining.

Two adults, 2 boys (6 & 9)

Looking at getting the dining plan of 1QS, 1 TS, 1 Snack...


Is it really worth the money?

My boys do not care about character meals... so that's not an attraction.


If we don't do the dining plan, then we can change our reservation to Shades of Green.


Any and all help is appreciated..

If you think you would do dinner buffets (without characters, since your boys aren't interested), then you would probably save some money with the DDP. If your TS meals are mostly where you sit down and order, then you probably can do better with OOP.

The other thing to consider is your 9 yr old. The kids' meals are pretty small. I know it would not be enough food for my 9 yr old. If you get the DDP, he has to order from the kids' menu, so you might find yourself ordering more food for him to be satisfied which would up your cost with the DDP.

Do you already have reservations (ADRs) made? That will be a busy week for dining, so if you don't already have ADRs in place, you could find yourself with a meal plan and nowhere to use it.

I agree with the above statement, I could be difficult even 2+ months out to get reservations for that week. Also if you don't already have reservations to Shades of Green it might be difficult to get them now. Just a couple of things to think of.

You say that your kids are not interested in Character Buffets...is that because you have been to them and they didn't like them or are you just assuming they don't? When we went this last June my son (age 11) and my niece (age 16) still got a kick out of the characters.

If you decided to keep the dining plan I would try to make the ADRs and then if you can't get any or the ones you want then you will know early enough to cancel the dining plan.
