Do you dicker when you hold your garage sale???

I HATE it when people offer 5 cents for a $2 item. I would rather donate it to goodwill!

When I go to garage sales, I either pay the sticker price or leave the item there.

How about you???

If something is more than I'm willing to pay I'll offer what I would. I rarely ask for them to reduce the price more than half.

I've found that it works best to ask the least they'd take. Sometimes people will give me a price less than I would have offered.

If I'm having a sale I price things up or just don't take lower offers. I prefer just giving stuff away and taking the tax deduction. Much easier.

I do not go to or give garage sales. It is much easier to give it to good will and i have to much of my own junk to buy someone elses.

Will you take 50 cents for this(marked 1.50..and I probably paid 20.00)....NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.....it is marked 1.50.

I always say not now...when I close if it still there..yep...but most likely it will be gone...because most people know that it a 20.00 item.

I usually sell everything..so I know I am not overprices..probably underpriced...most of my stuff is brand name!


and on the flip side...I would never have the nerve to ask for something for less than it is marked....NEVER!!!!!!!!

I opened this wanting to know what "dickering" was, LOL. We call it "haggling" here and no I don't do it! I hardly ever go to yard sales but I would never ask them to lower the price on something, that's tacky to me. I wouldn't go to a store and say I don't like this price, let me make you an offer.

I was scared to open this, too...never heard this term used before. Here it is bargaining or haggling, or just being cheap. And it is normal here to do some amount of bargaining, because most people don't mark the prices on the items.

Im a bargain hunter so I do haggle when I know I can get it somewhere else cheaper ( I go to yard sales every weekend though so I have a good idea of what stuff goes for) I dont insult people though with ridiculous offfers, I really hate that!!

I hate having sales especially when people offer me $2 on something thats marked $10. THATS an insult and I would rather give it away!
