I was wondering if it is worth the extra $100 to upgrade to concierge level accommadations at the DLH. I was thinking that all of the food and drinks would help our food bill for the trip. Dunno.

Also, where is a good place to but lanyards and disney pins?
Thanks , :confused3

we get our $ out of it easily.....but we are not big eaters so the BF / dinner options are our meals. Also, we are willing to walk back to the resort everytime they put out food !

We debated this, but we don't spend $100/day on food to begin with, and that's for food of our choice, not what is put out for us. Plus you don't have to keep walking all that way when you're hungry. We like being able to choose what we want for a snack - Dole whip, corn dog, churro, fruit, what have you, right in the parks.

It depends on how much you would be spending on food to begin with and if this saves you some, then it might be good. For us, not really worth it for the food!

It really depends on how much time you think you will be at the resort. Now that my kids are older, we spent more time in the parks and took our breaks there. I've done concierge in the past but would not do it now. Also, I don't think the lounge would have been open early enough for our early entry mornings. We had 3 early entries out of 4 of our park days and we would get to the gate by 6:30 a.m. for 7a.m. entry. Also parades and such are often scheduled during the evening snacks hour so you may not make it back in time for that either. I say spend the money on a leisurely lunch at a really good restaurant for your break.

One other consideration, your room may not be in the same tower as the concierge lounge.

you know you are correct, we don't actually eat $100 a day in food, (especially just 3 of us) but we like the club offerings (fruit, veggies, cheese) better than the heavy food in the parks. We also like the free drinks, and a great space to relax. So, it is "worth it" to us.

I seriously thought about going concierge this time we went to the DLH, but realized we would mostly just use it for breakfast. I loved the idea of not leaving the room for breakfast--that way we have a chance to eat and digest before we get to the parks. Instead we ordered room service each day there, and the bill worked out to be about 50.00 each day (with tax and fees and tip). We shared 2 big American breakfasts (which comes with 2 drinks for each breakfast, two eggs, two sausage or bacon, tons of toast, hashbrowns) and one order of full sized french toast. I asked for 2 extra plates. We all ate in our jammies in bed while watching TV. That breakfast was our wake up each morning. We also got an extra small pot of coffee for me and husband. It was the perfect amount for all of us, and the kids loved it. It was great to not have to get 3 kids all dressed and then go somewhere to find our food--we all just ate there.

The room service guy would knock to wake us up, and my husband would answer the door in his undies while I would open the curtains to let in some light. While he was setting up the kids would all be yawning and setting up their pillows, and I would start dividing up the food. It was really good, and they all loved it! They always insisted on watching that TV channel that was just like one long commercial for Disneyland while we ate, and by the last day we were all reciting the lines along with the narrator!

IMO the Concierge is worth about $20 per adult ($25 if you drink) & $15 -$18 per kid per day. Assuming that:

- You do your breakfast there.
- You are there for the late afternoon appetizer / happy hour (which can replace dinner).
- You nab 3-5 bottle water or soda's per person per day.

$100 would be close to break even (to me) for a family of 4. I've done it twice for a $60 bump (for a family of 3) & felt it was worth it.

thanks for the information everybody. I am still undecided bc I don't know how much bf will eat. ( he can really put it away!) My sis says that the free drinks and water, which you can take with you into the park on a hot day, were worth the price to her. I am thinkin about the room service for breakfast though. That sounds a lot easier than rushing my 2 year old into her clothes. hmmmmm....

Not worth it to us. We can run by Target and buy a huge case of water/snacks/soda that will last us a whole week for around $20 (if that). So I can't justify $100 more a night!

The other alternative is to have groceries delivered to your hotel room through Vons or Albertson's online. That way you can get your breakfast items, water and other drinks, and snack items without paying the highway robbery prices in the resort. ($3.00 for a bottle of water! )

:goodvibes :goodvibes

My main memory of a childhood trip, with my mom and then stepdad, to Disneyland was having my first room service. I can still remember the plate with the cover on it, and scrambled eggs....:goodvibes

Sorry OP, I haven't even considered doing Concierge at a Disney hotel, so I have no answers for you.

Too funny. Last time we stay at GC, I order room service because I wanted the kids to have a memory of it.

I believe the soda bottles are glass so they can't be brought into the park. I seem to recall reading that the water was also not portable?

No the soda can be took in the park they encorge it from what ive read

If we were to stay on site and it was only 100 more a night i think id try it. But we drink alot of water or soda and other things. we go back in afternoon for rest i would make sure to work out my times to be there when the afternoon snacks come out. I would use the brekfest and I would use the night snack and wine. So to me for my family of 3 if i was to do it it would be worth it.

mousepins.com
grate place get grab bag of pens and trade them for ones you want in park.

:)
The room service did work out really well for us, and I got the idea of splitting breakfasts at room service from here! We don't usually order it (thiking it will be to much money) but it was so easy the first day that we just kept going with it--even on the last day when we had reservations at Steakhous 55 for breakfast. We took a family vote and cancelled those and all slept in the last day till 9:30 (easy to do when you have been out till almost midnight for the last 3 nights!) and went for the room service again. My 8 year old says the room service was the best part of the trip! Who needs those stinkin' Pirates when you can watch one long Disney infomercial from your bed while eating sausage?

The funniest time was the second morning we were there--we were getting up early to beat the heat and crowds, but were all dead tired from staying out late the night before (we attempted the trifecta and made it!). Husband opened the door in undies to the room service guy, but the kids were all totally passed out in a stupor of cotton candy, churros, and one too many late night rides on autotopia. Husband told our server to put the serving cart just at the entrance of our room, as we were all trying to wake up. I got up to help (luckily I wear a nightgown, not just undies) and the room server proceded to open each plate with a florish and loud bang from the steel tops. Finally husband says, "that's okay--you don't have to do that--we can take care of it..." and the server says in this pseudo french accent...

"I am sorreez sir, but you do not like my pre-zen-ta-tion?" He looked both annoyed and crushed. Husband said--"no, your pre-zen-ta-tion is errr...nice..." The guy smiled at the compliment and kept going, opening each item with a florish and announcing each one.

For the rest of the trip anytime one of us suggested doing something and the other one didn't look too excited we would say "I am sorreez sir, but you do not like my pre-zen-ta-tion??":lmao:

Luckily we are easily amused. Amusement helps with 3 kids and 19 years of marriage!;)

That's hilarious!

To heck with Concierge.....I want room service with the "pre-zen-ta-tion" dude. I've got this mental picture of one of the waiters from "Ratatouille" doing this for your family. :lmao:

Very funny !

But back to the free drinks, we don't drink sodas....but we love our hot drinks. I avarage 4cups of coffee a day from the lounge, my DD makes a great mocha from coffee, a hot chocolate pack, and half and half, and my DH alternates between tea and Hot chocolate. This would be very expensive in the parks....and i NEED caffeine.

Drinks would be good - but maybe not $100/day good. We are getting a case of water delivered and some pop/juice, some such thing. I'm bringing my French press coffee maker to have some GOOD coffee in the room.

Again, I think it does make sense for some people, but not for us (at least not at DL). We do this on other trips where we're not out and about all day, where it would be very convenient to make use of the lounge, etc. Here, we want to eat at lots of other places and try all the fun stuff in the parks, so it would be more inconvenient (for us anyway) to be having to come back at certain times, and I would hate to pay for it and not use it to the fullest (cheapo - that's me :thumbsup2 ).
