to concierge or tough it out,lol

When we went last December, we stayed at the Paradise Pier-- concierge was worth it to us.....We have a family of 5. We would go there in the morning and have breakfast and everyone took 2 drinks with us in the park....We even took snacks for in the park ( we brought zippies with us) We brought some fruit and pastries in case the kids needed a snack. When we came back in the afternoon the kids always had to have the uncrustables and fruit....we always grabbed more and kept them in our fridge in the room. They had cookies/chips out for them too. We always stocked our fridge in our room with milk too--We have a one year old :) We used the evening snacks as dinner. My husband loved the salsa and chips they have too. At dinner time there was always a cheese/vegi tray too. My husband would take his beer that they offer back to the room and we would all relax. We loved the choc covered strawberries too :) My boys also liked renting the movies every night. The concierge even made my boys little activity bags. They had tatoos and coloring pages and a disney mask. It was well worth it to us. Although we stayed in December so the price was a little better. :)
When my husband and I went by ourselves though we couldn't justify the extra expense for just the two of us.

I think it also is so based on where you are in family circumstances, and how often you get to Disney. We are now a family with only a late teen, and get to Disney alot....easily 15 week(7 night) long family trips in the last 17 years. So we have such different priorities now that are much more resort experience based, plus lots of sleeping in !
So, if are in a more park based phase, or have young kids that need to eat frequently, and walk less....maybe no.

Is it true you get better rooms (larger, better view) when going concierge?

Thanks for the wealth of info. I talked it over with Dbf :happytv: , yep thats the couch potato, but not many men would put up with my disney fixation, lol. Anyways he is convinced that we will be in the parks most of the day so it wouldn't be wise. I am the 'frugal traveler" and am always looking for a deal. I think we should try it because of the young one. We shall see who was right. ( Have a feeling I will win this one, will keep track of how much we spend on food):woohoo:

F.y.i. I talked to the CM and she informed me that they do encourage concierge level patrons to take as many snacks and beverages as they want and that they may be taken into the parks.

Lisa, have you considered writing a book? You have a way with putting y our experiences into words. Hilarious! The french waiter would have made me just lose it, ha ha!:rotfl:
Will check out the website for pins, thanks so much . Dbf is a fanatic about collecting and trading pins, especially monorail pins!
bye for now , Tina
