To Chef Mickey or not? Updated 2/13- Breakfast or Dinner???

I thought I had finalized our plans. (with only myself since we are still too far out to make ressies) However in talking to DS(9) he said he was really looking forward to CM. We already have the following:

CP
Flame tree BBQ
Boma
Tangierine Cafe
Beaches & Cream
Mama Melrose - Fantasmic Pkg
1900 PF
Yorkshire Cty Fish Shop

We are staying at a 2Bdrm BCV, so was planning on trying to do all other meals at the room. DMom's opinion was to save something for next time. However it probably will be another 6 years before we are back again. DS will be 15 at that point and probably won't care. Is it worth fitting it in? Budget wise we should be fine unless gas prices really take a hike.

For the character interaction and the atmosphere, I'd say go for it. Not top-of-the-line food, but for a 9yo, it will be great.

I would definitely book it if you're DS wants to do it and you don't think you'll be back for several years. My kiddos request it every time. Although the food will not knock your socks off, the fun and characters certainly will!

I would definitely try to book it if my child requested it. My daughter requested CRT for our January trip. She is 8. I was able to get it for her. I think it will be our last time there and am glad we got to do it again.

If you don't want to add another meal, could you replace one you have planned with CM?

Its not my most favorite place, but the food is good and we go because my kids like it (even though they are teens). I would try to work a visit into your plans if that is what your DS would really like.

Chef Mickey's is worth it because of the food, atmosphere and character interaction.

I highly recommend Chef Mickey's to everyone, the food is OK, but the atmosphere makes it totally worth it!
The characters are so much fun, then they dance and sing at times and it creates such a festive experience. My DS14 still enjoys going and we are returning on our trip next month. We like to go for brunch around 11:00am.
Most other people are leaving and the characters spend more time with the guests!

We are doing Chef Mickey's twice for my 3 y/o niece. It's her 1st visit to WDW!

We are waiting until later in the week to go so she will be somewhat familiar with the characters after seeing them in person in the parks.

My kids love it. We went again last year because my niece and nephew were with us, but we opted out this year. The food is so, so, but the kids love the ice cream machine

Yes, absolutely go to Chef Mickey's. Especially if your son wants to go. The character interaction is great and the food is good too! And save room for dessert - they have some good ones!

Go for it!!! The kids love it and every hour there's a mini party starring all the characters.

There is your answer right there. You'll also get to take him at the child price one last time. Nothing wrong with saving $10-15!!!

If you need to drop one, make it either CP or 1900 PF keeping the one that best appeals to your DD.

do all the character meals you can reasonably do, while your kids are so young! they're some of our very best memories.

We've been fortunate enough to go each of the past 3 years. DS10's top dining request each time is a character meal with the main characters. This past year we went to Tusker House, the 2 years prior it was Chef Mickey's. My kids love it! I would definitely go, even if it meant skipping a different meal. They grow up so fast and while my teen still loves Disney, he doesn't have the same awe in his face anymore as his siblings do when they meet the characters.

Thanks everyone for the responses!!!! I am going to add CM to the list of ADR's. I'm thinking that we will do breakfast since it's a little cheaper. Does anyone know if they do the same antics for breakfast as they do for dinner? Like the napkin waving?
