Hello -- this is my first time here. There is a chance that my family of 5 (14,12,7 kids) can visit Disney the week of Dec 26th but I am hearing that is really busy! I don't want crazy busy & standing in lines all the time as this is all of our first experience with Disney. Any thoughts?

We want to make this work but honestly if there is a better time we could be flexible.

Thanks.

Hi Tammy. I just wanted to say welcome to the DIS!

From everything I have read on the boards it will be very busy. I will be there the same time you will. However, I have planned, planned, planned. I have made all of my ressies for events and restaurants and I intend on using a touring plan to make it through. Also, it will just be my DBF and myself, no kids.

It may be difficult to get some ressies at this point. Let's see what some more experienced DIS'ers say. Personally, if I could move my dates, I would push them back to the first week of January. I just can't do that.

Have a great time!

Well, it would be hard to pick a BUSIER time than this (4th of July may be a percent or two busier, but not much). Your assessment about long lines is pretty accurate. It is the perfect example of when NOT to visit, if you don't want crowds and delays.

One week later (if you attend starting January 2) would be a much better time to go.
The crowds would be a tiny FRACTION of the numbers churning in the parks during "holiday week".

Thank you for your opinion. Jut as I suspected. I'm torn on what to do. The Dec 26th works best for all & Iam half tempted to come anyway ... we have Seapasses to Seaworld & Busch Gardens & could do those for 'free' & then do some Disney ... still thinking. So far I'm able to get a room (looking at the Port Orleans Riverside)

Thanks!

If you want a good "first impression" of DisneyWorld, do not go at Christmas. There are lines everywhere, for everything! If you could even go the first week of January, say the 2nd, you would still see the decorations, but not the crowds. A few years ago, we went to Orlando on Dec. 28th thru Jan 10th, and there was such a difference after New Years Day, it was unbelieveable. We did not even try the Disney parks until the 3rd and it was great. We went to Universal on Jan 1, and it was crowded, especially after noon.

I would pick another time. I have a special birthday coming up in Jan. '07 and yesterday I asked DH if he would consider a Dec. 28 - Jan. 2nd trip next year, and he said he thinks it would be so crowded that we wouldn't enjoy it. It's my birthday, so I get to decide, but I guess I'm still thinking of options. We've been to WDW oodles of times, I definitely wouldn't go there during that time for the first time ever.
