To burst or not to burst?

Yuk Alert!

After burning my finger on Saturday, I've developed a blister. It's quite large and filled with fluid!
It's beginning to annoy me - it feels like I've got a balloon on the end of my finger and I just know I'm going to catch it on something and burst it!

So, do I burst it myself or let it burst naturally?

Leave it alone! Finger burns get infected very easily. The blister is protecting the layers underneath. I know it is tempting to prick it, but don't--it won't feel any better, but it will allow germs to get under there and cause worse prblems. Put a bandaid over it for now and wash it twice a day.

Don't burst it. As the previous poster said it is protecting the layer of skin underneath and it is always really sore if you burst a blister before it goes naturally.

Tim - I just wanted to say - yuck!! I hope your blister goes away soon!

I understand the compulsion to burst it ;) but I think if you can, avoid it :teeth:
