To bring water bottles or not...

Same here!!! We've used the Bobble during the last 4 trips or so. A lifesaver! We're all huge water drinkers and it's nice to dump CS water in the Bobble (or any filtered bottle) so we can also drink it during waiting in lines. We also use it to fill up with water fountain water so it takes the nasty taste away. We just carry one and share between the four of us so we don't have as much to carry.
Agree - I found that waiting in lines was when we needed water the most, especially if we were just baking in the sun.

We bring Brita filter bottles, and they completely get rid of the taste. We fill with ice and water before we leave in the morning, then fill with cups from CS as needed so that we're not looking for a place to get water when we're thirsty.

The only time I have ever had water at the parks was running a race. I hate carrying stuff which is why I'm gonna miss my youngest son's stroller when we make it back to the world. Have the cooler packed with Gatorade, soda and whatever DW wanted that day sure did save some $ for sure.

The water at WDW is terrible!!! I highly recommend the Grayl Quest. It has a built in filter system made for tap water and purifies it way better than Brita and many others. It works like a coffee press. You can fill it up anywhere and drink as you go so it's not necessary to carry water all the time. The filter is also interchangeable, Tap, Travel & Trail. Yep, I spent a lot of time trying to find the best alternative to plastic and stainless water bottles. ALL plastic bottles are harmful due to what they're made of and there are certain stainless steel water bottles that you should not fill with milk or juice. I think the water fountains taste terrible, so we bring MIO water flavorings. I don't want to bring too much water in, but can't bring myself to spend $3.75 for every single drink all day. We start with a water bottle or collapsible "flask" nice and cold from the resort fridge (or, occasionally, partially frozen). We tried once to bring more than one per person, but that's just too much and doesn't stay cold long enough to be worth it anyway. I've finally gotten to where each of the kids is required to carry their own small bag if they want anything to carry (like autograph book, chapstick, pressed penny money) and next time we may consider insulated drawstring backpacks - I'm sure they won't be impervious to the FLA heat, but may keep our water bottles a little cooler while still not being very bulky.

Even though I knew about the free water at counter service places, it seemed we were always in a line when we realized we were thirsty or the CS lines seemed overly long and we bought something at a cart or refilled from a water fountain instead.

Sometime we will bring a collapsible water bottle because they weigh next to nothing. We have filled it with ice and then water and sip it as needed. During the day we would get two large cups of ice water, drink one and refill the collapsible with the other and again, sip as necessary. This is was the best system we came up with and works like a charm. :))

How much Is Disney charging for case of water at gift shops ?

At the deluxe/DVC resorts, a case of 24 ct 12 oz bottles is $6.50. Sorry I don't know if the prices at the other resorts are the same.

Thank you for asking this question! I was going to ask it as well. I'm glad to hear that you can fill the water bottles and bring them in.

If you don't want to carry the water bottle, consider a camelbak that you wear. I've heard good things about that.

We always bring a refillable brita bottle - it only minimally helps with taste in my opinion. I think I also don't like drinking out of plastic bottles anymore, but I am VERY picky about water. I would bring any water bottle that you will use though.

It is so, so, so easy to get dehydrated at Disney. Especially in July!! I am pregnant and the last half day we did at our local theme park I thought I did good drinking about 70 ounces of water just at the park. I still woke up very dehydrated the next day. I can't imagine not drinking all day at Disney.

We stop at every counter service when the bottle is starting to get empty. We usually find it takes about 5 minutes, but we go during slower season and some stuff actually takes longer when they are less busy. Once we get the attention of a CM, we are usually out of there quickly. Also at every meal, counter service or table service, we get an extra cup of water. We use that extra cup of water to refill our water bottles.

These look like a great gift to ask for for Christmas, but I'm not sure I'd trust my husband with it yet. He killed my hydroflask recently by putting it in the dishwasher multiple times!!

Every time I've ever been to Disney and gone to a CS walkup place, I've had to wait at least 10 minutes to order food. Do you have to wait in that line just to ask for a cup of water? Because I'd rather spend $5 on a bottle of water and get it NOW then have to wait 10 mins for free water.

What is the strategy and protocol for getting the free water from the CS places in a quick and timely manner?

You may have to wait in line if it's not super crowded. If there is a CM directing people to a specific line, I've found telling them that you are just wanting ice water, they will send you up to the front. However, I've also had to wait at that line, because the CMs who fill the drink are usually looking at the tickets and you have to wait for them to take a break and notice you.

We have occasionally been in and out in 30 seconds, but usually it takes us about 5 minutes.

We always bring water as $3.50 per bottle is just too much...we'd rather spend the money on Mickey bars!

My Overland Donner has two insulated side pockets. The water does add a little weight but I'm used to it.

Anyone want to weigh in? Should we bring our hydroflasks to the park?

- I've read ice water is free, but are lines long to get it?
- Is the water fountain water cold?

I'm thinking hydroflask will keep ice all day and just refill with water from the fountains, but is that worth carrying them around? We may get a stroller on a few of the days, like EP so seems like a no brainer those days.

Thoughts?
I'm thinking your at Disney World. You have already spent a ton of money, just bit the bullet and buy the water at the parks when you want it. No need to carry an extra pack around with you.

I carry a camelbak with a 100 oz. bladder in it. This is also my day pack with sunscreen, bars, fruit, etc... I fill it mostly with ice in the am and my son and I are drinking cold water all morning. I'll refill it at a soda station a few times throughout the day with ice and top off at fountains as needed throughout the day. Which we needed this past weekend at Disneyland, since it was 104.

I would rather pay the extra several dollars per day to buy water from a cart than lug bottles of water in my bag around the parks all day.

Most CS places have a bunch of ice water cups lined up for this purpose. I typically walk up to the counter and ask for one.
