To book the Pirate suite or not that is my dilemma!! opinions?

I most profusely agree Jayne. :) Or how many people can be helped too.
A person is free to do what they wish to do with their money.
Frankly, even if I had all of the money in the world, I just do not think that I could personally justify making that booking.

While I see the point that the PPs were trying to make, I don't think that was a very kind response to the OP questions. Obviously all of us here spend a certain amount of discretionary income at Disney and how much is really a personal choice. I have never seen the Pirate suite and to stay there at any price isn't my cup of tea, but if Disney were to start making the Cinderella's Castle Suite available for $3000, I might have to serious consider that. Let's not make the OP feel badly about spending her hard earned $$$ on a trip of a life time! :goodvibes

Let me start with I asked because many posters here have pulled all the stops out for trips to Disney. It may be a stay at the Grand Floridian, or the Grand Cali concierge lvl I don't see why you are offended by it. I asked cause maybe someone has stayed in one of the themed rooms, or if it was a really special touch to 10 years together would this be nice to do. I'm aware of the times, but I don't go out, and throw money around daily. I was trying to do a nice surprise. I suggest you retract the claws as I don't feel you need to be remarking on my need of a dictionary it was rude, and I have taken good, bad, and ugly in a respectable manner. Times are bad, but yet you sometimes need a little magic.

I am doing something special for our wedding anniversary next year. It is our 20th. I am getting one night at a bed and bath on the coast at my husbands favorite place on the coast. This is a historic building the lighthouse keepers lived in. At night you can walk up to the lighthouse (he loves this lighthouse) and stand with your back to the lighthouse as the beam circles around-- it is supposed to be amazing. The cheapest room there would be $133. That is exorbitant for us but something we would both really enjoy and is a little special to us as we went to the coast just for the day when we got married. (at the courthouse no frills) I dunno I don’t think something being special should have to have a ridiculously spendy price tag. Frankly I also think Walt would be rolling in his grave to know about this room with a $3000 a night price tag in his name. It’s shameful. It is painfully made aware of when confronted with this op how split the divide has become between the classes the last 8 years. The rich are richer the middle class --a memory. Oh-- let the rich come to Disneyland and spend their money, maybe the company will take it out less on us, the little people, by not raising raising and raising prices more. I just hope Disneyland never exclusively becomes the playground of the rich. Things will be changing by the way, the next 8 (yes 8) years. It is coming down -that particular infrastructure of the greed and unchecked wealth. It is crumbling around them.

For $3,000 I would have a pirate themed room built at my house! If you paid that much for a room, you would have to stay in it 24/7 to get the full benefits. Think of the souvineers and food you could buy with that money???

Jane I do agree does not need to be spendy to be wonderfull. This to me is a milestone marker not as big as your 20th, but I still was really just putting my heart in it. There have been negative thoughts towards me for wanting to plop down that much, and I will be honest that it has made me feel like i'm the villain. I am highly considering maybe instead trying GCH CL as a PP suggested. I still am considering it, but it's not set in stone. I love the boards here, and enjoy that there are others like me who love being in the magic of the land. I will say that 9 dollars for a highschool musical 3 cup/w soda was a bit overkill even though it was a big cup, and yes I do think the room is also a bit over killed on the price for a presidental suite. I checked into the new princess, and mickey rooms those are going for 700 a night. Again I was putting a lot of heart in it, and looking past price.

I think if you have the money you should do it, it would be a very nice surprise and lots of fun. I think how you spend your money is up to you and if you think you would like it then book it! :goodvibes
If you do decide to book it I would love to see pics when you guys get back! Dont worry about what others say your not the bad guy, my family was thinking of booking one of those rooms to (I think it was the pirate one as well but I'm not sure) but we forgot about it for a while and never ended up doing it.
:thumbsup2 You should do whats right for your family and if you want to book the room I think you should!

"Frankly I also think Walt would be rolling in his grave to know about this room with a $3000 a night price tag in his name."

I agree that everyone has every right to use their money as they please.

This statement above that was made by another poster I agree with 100%. What I find a bit bothersome, has nothing at all to do with the OP thoughts and desires, but more to do with why Disney feels that they can justify that amount. I just don't see why they need to inflate that one particular room to such a huge degree. I have seen the video of it on line and it is lovely, however, I think they could charge 1/2 of what they do for that room and still make a hefty profit.

To the OP, best of luck for a wonderful trip, whatever decision you make!

Oh I do agree heck charge 1500 a night for it, and it would still make good. When I spoke to them they justfied it by saying it takes most of the time 2 days to clean it then goes through heavy management inspection, they also give you VIP service with parade, fireworks, and show viewings. The beefed up version of vaca planners plus your own private type concierge type person. The reason why price is what it is they claim it stays booked along with the Mickey Penthouse which me, and my daughter did not get to tour due to people being in it. We did tour the Pirate one, and we stayed 30 mins or so in which they allowed my 4 y/o dd to touch, turn on, and explore EVERYTHING. They did say most people tour them before jumping in, and heck yeah who can blame them it's expensive for sight unseen. I was thinking prices would drop on it after year of a million was over, but it's not cause people are paying for it, and Disney is not gonna bite a hand that's banking money even being that costly. Lowest price for it 2700 I was told AP's get 10% off, but that was incorrect.

Whatever you decide to do - and it is your choice :thumbsup2 - I hope you have a truly wonderful time!

That's all good info for us!

In the time I've spent on the Dis, I haven't seen much of anything about these suites, so I can't help but think that they are relatively new. I had NEVER heard anything about a 3K/night room at the DLH until your post, so a list of its attributes helps when you're asking for opinions. :)

If you have that money, and you wouldn't feel it's a waste with younger kids who MIGHT not remember it into adulthood (please note that I don't use the memory of kids to make many decisions, but, for instance, we're putting off some bigger travel until DS is a bit older to appreciate it, be patient for it, etc....but, for instance, I myself barely remember my *honeymoon*, and slept through more than half of it, since I was about a week post-conception when we started our cruise!), and it wouldn't ruin all future trips...then go for it.

Sure, it could be spent in other ways, but not everyone has those passions. And you certainly would be putting money towards a company we all believe in, right? Helps their bottom line, which helps them continue.

Spending money does put that money into the coffers of companies, which then have that money to use, which puts it into other pockets, etc.

So go for it, if you want to.

And when you come back, post pictures and include a list of all the things the suite offers, so that we can all really know the value of it!:goodvibes

Is it gorgeous you bet! If you're a huge fan of the movies/ride this is the ultimate submersive experience with things from the movie including the chest of davey jones which is in a glass curio. Color scheme is burgandy, hunter green, and deep mahogony woods. Dim lighting, wood floors, flat screens in living room, and bedrooms, enterance doors are made to look like pirate ship doors' 2 bedroom, 3 bath with master containing shower, and jacuzzi garden tub, living room contains switch activated fireplace, with pirate pictures, an treasure chests, dining room section, and a nice size wet bar with wooden pirate ice bucket, doorbell does reg ding dong then sings yo ho yo ho a pirates life for me. Jacks compass is also in the curio, there is also a hidden dvd player, and full computer. With room comes VIP seating which they take care of for parades, fireworks, and such. It is on the top floor 11th of dreams tower steps from the concierge lounge.

I'm sure that all of us look forward to pictures, if you go for it. :)

Doesn't this sort of thing make you wish you were a travel writer, so you could be reimbursed for it? :upsidedow

I haven't read the entire post since I last posted but sounds like things got a little ugly. While I dont feel right spending that kind of money, you may. If it were a third of the price I would in a heartbeat. Staying at the GCH CL is as high as I like to go, but that is just me.

Where can I find pictures, this sounds cool!!

BTW I understand wanting to make something special. I finally got the chance to go to Club 33 recently and decided that was the night we HAD to go and stay at DLH, since it was always a dream of mine since I was little to stay there. This is a huge splurge for us since we only live a bit more then an hour away and could have just driven home, but figured why not add to the specialness of the day.

If you do decide to do any amount of days there take lots of pictures cause it sound so cool!!

TY a PP mentioned staying 1 night then maybe doing GCH. I have done storytellers bfast there, but we have never stayed there, and that wasnt a bad idea which I tried explaining, but I guess i'm a god awfull person for asking opinions here on a board I do love with many nice helpfull people. I also posted details of it for bumber because she's right not really any details on here about it, and I posted my tour details may be they may be good for others. There is a good video on you tube I think that's where I saw it type in pirate suite, or google pirate suite pictures.

Aw, lostgirlz, you're not a bad person for thinking about it, or even doing it. We all have our own priorities. I'm sure things that you would NEVER spend money on are happily done by others, and vice versa!

I found a flickr slideshow of what I assume is the suite. It reaffirmed my own feelings for my own personal family, that we wouldn't book it (though we wouldn't turn down an upgrade to it, either), but I know that that style is definitely other peoples' (most, even) idea of luxury!

Teehee, they had bathing suits drying in their bathroom. :)

That's a great room! I wish I could stay there cuz my autistic son would FLIP for it! I do splurge for his bday though, he and I stayed at GCH CL for 2 nights last summer and I'll be doing it again in 2009, but I really wish I could surprise him with something like the Pirates suite or Dream suite. Sometimes he asks God for the Dream suite. He's so cute:rotfl:
