Hi

my husband 1 year old son and I are planning a dream trip to Disney this fall we picked out dates hotels and everything and then discovered it is thanksgiving?!!?

Are we crazy to go then is it really busy? is it busy the whole weekend or is it just the one day? I want to be there for the holiday season and those dates were cheeper than our other option but should I switch to avoid the crowds? Is there any special events for thanksgiving that would make it worth it to go then?
thanks for your help

If it were me, I would switch to avoid the crowds. What are the dates for your second option?

we will be there from sun 23 to fri the 28 of nov with thanksgiving being the 27. i have heard its busy turkeyday but not bad the other days. heard both sides of the argument from many. we are just going to bite the bullet and go.

I would bite the bullet and go too!! I have never been fo Turkeyday, but I bet it is so magical!!:wizard:
I wonder if the turkeys at DL have ears on them....:rolleyes1
Have a great trip!

We go the friday before turkey day to the wednesday before and think the park is very tolerable.Friends of our get there wednesday and go through the weekend and always say it is packed. You're bound to get varying opinons.:thumbsup2

We went Thanksgiving 2006, it was very busy. We enjoyed it though. We are AP, so if something is crowded, we skip it until next time. I will say that it was pretty neat to be there on Thanksgiving though. We had a good time. The only downside is that once you eat your Turkey dinner, you don't want to go walking around the park. I would do it again, but not sure if I had one trip a year if that would be my date or not.

I think your dates are doable. The parks will be a little crowded, but manageable through Wednesday. On Thursday & the weekend it will be insanely busy, but it's still fun. I say to go on as many attractions as you can before the actual day, and then just enjoy the festivities on Thursday & the rest of the weekend. :)

We were there for T-day 2006 and it was FABULOUS! Some cast members were saying (on thursday and friday) that they've not seen the park that empty before.

Here's my trip report:

Basically, we got there when they opened, went to DCA mid to late afternoon, then back to DL. The longest line we stood in was about 30 minutes for Autopia (there was no fast pass). We rode everything we wanted to, some things multiple times, walking right back on after riding and we felt very relaxed the whole time. It was the best DL trip we've ever had!

Do your research here and you'll have a great time.

I'm hoping this year's T-day trip to WDW will be just as good!

We went for a quick trip this past year at this time.

We got there Saturday night and then we had Sunday and Monday in the parks. Miley was there that Sunday if I recall correctly (I know it was one of the days that trip) and we had a GREAT trip. I prepared myself for the worst and we had a wonderful time. Lines were doable, especially with fast pass.

Now, I understand that the closer to the holiday, the busier it is.
