Are the FJ seats any different from the East version of the ride? And did they install the yellow light/ modified lock mechanisms on the end of the benches on either side?

There hasn't been a soft opening, only a limited press walkthrough. The rides aren't operating yet. Here's an article:

Edited to add:
I just read that they had a preview for 300 guests the next day and ran the rides. You'd think they'd have made sure the people giving them the free advertising in the press got to ride the day before...

I know that of my 4 friends who work at Universal, though not in the HP area, only 1 has been through training. I wonder how many of the people who got to go are actually employees being trained to answer questions about it.

You'd think, considering that only a few days after the ride was operational, and I've been asking everyone I know who went and of course they didn't even TEST the seats, unfortunately I'm on the big side so that's not even a possibility for me.

Wizarding World has soft opened to the public. It was open from 3PM on Feb 12, at 10AM Feb 13 and all day (9AM-9PM) on Feb 14. All rides were open.

Sorry, Cinderfella, I don't know the answer to your question.
