Hope this is the right place, sooo.. We're looking to do a month long rental in the Cocoa Beach area, Google Maps says it would be just over an hour from there to Board Walk, basically on 528. We'd probably hit WDW mid week to avoid crowds, Feb would be our month. I'd like to know what kind of traffic to expect 8 am or so going in and 9:30 ish heading back. Also, tolls?

Thanks,

8am, mid week, Cocoa Beach to WDW is the question?

Barring an accident on 528 traffic is busy but moving. Your choice is what to take once you get to Orlando but my vote would be to use 417, passing south of the airport and then you can get to WDW properties avoiding I-4 which is normally the problem area thru the WDW and 528 interchange areas. (if there is an accident on 528 all bets are off. In some areas you can get locked on the highway with no place to exit or turn around which happens about once a month on average. I usually check here b4 leaving to head for Orlando https://www.mynews13.com/fl/orlando/traffic)

Tolls will vary by your route but in general $6 in quarters will cover you each way - EXACT CHANGE cash is taken at all toll plaza and exits if you stick to 528 and 417 and avoids the possibility of a queue at attended plazas. And of course getting an e-pass or sunpass avoids the need to stop and pay entirely

9:30 pm heading back is usually wide open with any route

If you have an E-ZPass, it will charge tolls to your account at toll points with the E-Pass logo, but not at ones with the SunPass logo.

The mainline toll points on 417 between 528 & WDW are E-Pass. If you go past the first exit for WDW, you may run into some SunPass tolls.

If you take 528 past 417 (like to I-4), you will encounter a SunPass toll. I don't know who runs the toll booths between Cocoa & 417.

sunpass works fine for the entire route ... and I'd assume epass would too

the systems talk to each other

I've been using a sunpass for nearly 12 years with zero issues

(from epass web site: Enjoy the convenience of nonstop travel on all toll roads in Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina. )

Yes, SunPass & E-Pass are fully compatible, but E-ZPass (fom PA, for example) is only compatible with E-Pass.
