Hi. Will be moving down to FL in several months. Two questions:
1) Is the FL resident discount a noticeable one?
2) Can an already-booked cruise (with an EBS) get the FL disc. applied if it's before the full-payment due date?

Any other info. greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

The florida resident discount can be substantial at times or it can be little, but a discount is a discount. You can get the resident discount applied at any time during your booking, as soon as Disney releases the rates for your cruise, even if your cruise is paid in full, you will get a refund.:hyper:

FLR discounts cannot be used in combination with other discounts. They are typically very significant.

Here is a site where you can check for yourself:

http://www.allseastravel.com/

For comparison lets look at a near future 7-day sailing, Category 10 (as advertised by All Seas on their website):

The prices advertised are for
1) 2-adults
2) 2-adults 1-child 12 and under
3) 2-adults, 2-children 12 and under

Sailing on the March 27th 7-day Western (Magic)

Florida Resident Rates (Category 10):
(1) $1680 , (2) $2229, (3)$2779

Non-FLR rates:
(1) $3500, (2) $4549, (3) $5599

Thats a (1) 52%, (2) 51%, (3) 50% discount respectively!

I absolutely could not live without FL Resident Discount Rates!!! :D

The best we've ever secured was $599 per person for May and August 2003. Talk about a deal!

If the "one person" Florida resident is an adult, DCL honors the FLR rate for the entire cabin, regardless if the others are Florida residents.

Thanks for your help! My MIL might be joining us and she lives in Orlando, this would be great!

Thats just what we are doing in 3-4 years. Check out my title under my user name on the left.;)

Yah--moved here in 1991 when my dad retired from the USAF and am so happy they chose Florida!! Like Three Circles said--a 7 day has gone for $599 p/p. We typically cruise during the "value" season times and always are pleased when someone from Dreams Unlimited emails to let us know the FL. res. rates were just released and apply to our cruise. We love the Sat. right after Thanksgiving because both times we've sailed then--it ended up qualifying for the FRRates. Plus the ship is beautifully decorated for Christmas................and so is Castaway Cay!!

Are you telling me that I can get a florida discount in Sep 2005 when my mom (who lives in ft myers) joins us if she books both rooms? I was planning on re-booking that cruise in 05 on my Sep 04 cruise for the 10% discount and the 200 room credit. What should we do? Go ahead and book on board...then switch to allseas when we get home and then tell them mom is from florida???? lol

I'm right behind you Nick, I'll be there in 6 years from this July!!!

I may be wrong but I believe the FL. res. rates apply to only the people who are FL.residents. I don't think it matters if someone from your group is. But I could be wrong. Maybe it depends on if they are in the room w/ you. I know when our whole family went (booked 8 cabins)....my brother and his wife from Cali didn't get the rates. Anyone know??

DCL told me that as long as one adult per cabin is a FL resident, that cabin gets the discount. Were the CA residents in a cabin without any FL residents?

Juli

Some clarification...

The reservation (person who's name the reservation is in) must be a Florida Resident (that is where the docs will be mailed, and the person obligated to pay the bill). So if you're bringing along MIL because she lives in FL, you must book in HER name and arrange to have her pay (even if you don't plan to reimburse her).

That person must be an adult

The discounted rate is applied per cabin, not per-person within the cabin.

Unless DCL has changed the policy since June '03, thats been our expereince. :wave2:

We had to "mix up" the adults on our reservations (not the cabins - family re-union cruises) so each cabin was covered by FLL rates.
