I am currently at DL and have had the rumor confirmed. The Disney Gallery above the POTC ride will be closing perminetly as of Aug. 1. :sad1: It may move to another location in the park at some point in the future, but that has not been decided yet. So if you love the Gallery, you must go before the end of this month to enjoy it one last time.

Who confirmed this rumor? Do you know why they are closing it? What will they use that space for? Sorry, but I'm skeptical. . .

Edited to add: Ok, saw confirmations on the other fan sites. This makes me really sad. The gallery is one of my favorite quiet places. :(

Another bummer, won't be there until the 12th.

I won't be there until Aug. 2nd--I will just barely miss it!:sad2:

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the Gallery exactly?

I'm going in 2 weeks and want to know if I should plan to visit it.

Thank you (to whoever replies!)

Oh no!!! I love the Gallery--it's one of my favorite little hidden gems. This is very sad. :sad2:

umm... Gallery is currently opened still... The only confirmation is that some guy went to City Hall and asked a manager about it. Managers dont know much anyways...

If it is something THIS BIG, at least Al Lutz would report it or a news agency would...

It also does not show on my refurb list for the next 3 months...

I won't believe it either until something official comes out. I'm really hoping it won't. Especially since the "rumor" is they want to use it as a Suite for families to stay in during the YOMD. If they do change it over, and promise it will be back, I won't believe it. Where is Lincoln??? I will be very sad if they close it.

This was confirmed by several of the regular cast members that have worked there for years and also by the Director of Special Events for Disneyland. I was there yesterday for the Artists event and this was the talk among all of the employees working the event. When these CM's asked what would be put in its place, the response was that " they were putting in something that would enhance the guests' experience." I dont blame you for being skeptical, I was too until I heard it from several trusted sources. To me it was a very sad day as this was most likely the last time I was going to be there. Maybe I can talk DH into a daytrip between now and the time it closes.:sad1:

Is this the gallery with the balcony for the Fantasmic desert buffet on? If so will that stop again? I really hope not.

well, I havent heard of anything at work... BUT, according to a news bulletin that AL Lutz posted, he claims "YOMD" promotion is ending quicker than scheduled. The point of making a suite there is kinda pointless then?

Awww...I like the Disney Art Gallery! I always check it out when I'm at the park. I like to see what artwork they have on display and it's a good way to escape the heat and crowds. I also like eating in that small patio area they have (the one with the fountain). It's so quiet and peaceful there.

Do you know what they plan to do with it once it's closed? I wish they could re-consider closing it. :sad1:

1) Cinderella West Suite.

2) Club 33 expansion.

3) a prime area for an department that needs that space.
