? To All Moms, Do You Do Laundry At Dw?

we usually end up doing a load or two during our stay--hot, hot, hot and we usually put it in while dd is at the pool. I too bring laundry tab's, fabric softener sheets ,mesh laundry basket that folds up. :earsgirl:

As another poster mentioned, DVC is great for not having to worry about laundry! If you are staying in a studio you can just use the laundry room at your villa area for free. If you are in a 1 bedroom or bigger you have a washer/dryer right in the room.

I don't think of it as a waste of time at all, we usually do it while we are at the pool (at a non-DVC resort). I feel that dragging along tons of suitcases is much more difficult that washing clothes, JMO!

Do you know where the laundry rooms are at AKL?

We'll be travelling for almost two weeks, so we'll definitely have to do laundry on this trip!

No, I've never done laundry at WDW. I absolutey loathe doing laundry so I bring enough clothes for the stay and deal with the heaping pile of dirty clothes when I get home. ;)

I pack each outfit in the larger size ziplocs (got the tip from the DIS, possibly my favorite tip ever!) and that way an entire outfit is put together in one ziploc and takes up less space in the suitcase. At the end of the day, we put the clothes back in the ziploc and put it in the closet until it's time to pack up and come home. Works great for us and no laundry while on vacation.

I never thought I would be one to do laundry on vacation. But since my children have come along, I've found that I do. We usually stay in a place that has a washer and dryer in it. I find that it is easy to put a small load in each day, usually while the kids are napping. Then I don't have to worry about dirty clothes laying around and I go home with clean clothes. I can't stand coming home from vacation with a ton of laundry to do.

My DH and I are horrible overpackers. When we get home we play the "how much did you wear" game. We check to see who wore the most of what they packed. No prizes, just fun competition. Until I noticed lately my DH is now making sure he wears each piece, if only for a few minutes, so that he can win, stinker!

The laundry room at the AKL is on the ground floor (not the lobby floor, the one below that walks out to the pool) opposite the kids club. You walk out towards the pool then head around to your left, it's right by some elevators. I found it a little hard to find, I just sort of stumbled across it one day. It's actually quite big. It has an area to sit in with a TV if you want to wait. It also has a vending machine for quarters and washing stuff. The one I used at the Grand Floridian was tiny, and you really couldn't wait in there, especially if someone else was using it too.

We did not do laundry when we did a 7 day trip last year because we didn't plan much free time. This time, we are going for 11 days so there is no way I can pack for that many days without doing laundry. We are going with friends, so us girls will do the laundry while the dh's tend to the kids! We are hoping to do laundry at least once in the middle of the week.

We fortunately own DVC, our washer/dryer is in our villa...I do wash pretty much everyday...I toss stuff in and put it in the dryer when we get back...

We always do laundry on a Pool day in the middle of our trip. That way we pack half as much. We buy detergent and dryer sheets in advance, and leave the extras for other DIS'ers.

We always do laundry while we are there - this way I pack less & don't have to come home and do tons of it. I can't sleep late when I am away from home (unlike DSs & DH), so I would get up before everyone else, go get coffee & throw a load in. Works out great for us.

Yes, I did laundry at Pop in January. I went twice, early in the morning, took my refillable mug of hot chocolate, and chatted with some very nice people from different parts of the world, while the rest of my family were still asleep! It really didn't feel like a chore at all, and by going before breakfast didn't cut into the days activities at all :)

I like to do laundry at Disney! It is so much more enjoyable being surrounded by hidden Mickey's then sitting home in my laundry room. I always do laundry halfway through our trip, around the 7th day, to refresh the supplies. It is only my little DD and my mom that go to WDW with me but we go through tons of clothes. We must change 3 times a day! I put DD to bed and leave mom to watch her while I go do laundry. I do this around 10pm when I just want to relax. I have the place to myself most times or I meet some really interesting people! I even bring a collapsible hamper and stash it under the sink in the bathroom for dirty clothes. Makes it much easier to haul to the laundry room. I don't mind doing it at all.

What a sexist premise! Since when are Moms the only parents to do laundry??? You should be ashamed of yourself!

Nope, not ashamed one bit. It's a post about laundry. I hate laundry. It's a mundane subject. If you do laundry on vacation, great! If you do it at home, great! I wish my husband would do laundry!

Every year we drive down to Florida, every year I pack to much and I say, "Next year, I'm not bringing so much!" Every year I end up bringing the same amount of clothes!

I hate doing laundry on a normal day, let alone, doing laundry on vacation. I was just curious what all the other mom's do. I have 3 kids, ages, 7, 4, and 1.
There is also my dh, who is like another kid, always spills something on himself!

Haha, my mom says the same thing. Me and my family usually end up doing laundry. I'm 13, and my siblings are 9 and 9 (twins) and 3.

LeahH: I've always done laundry at WDW. We fly and just don't want to over pack clothes (have to leave room for the goodies you buy along the way...)
We stay at the AS--ASmo since it was constructed. and have found their facilities to be very convenient and wonderful. I throw some loads in midway during our trip (we stay 10-11 days) then walk the few steps to the pool and relax. best time to do it is morning when most are at the Parks. With two teenagers, we do our Park time a bit upside down anyway (go to parks by noon and stay until midnight) so laundry has never been an issue with me.

However, when we go to Tennessee (Dollywood area) I have to take a trip to a laundry matic and I hate that! :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

So...does anyone know of a good laundry mat off WDW property? We are staying at FW for 13 days this coming October. Last September I did laundry at FW and it was horrrrrrrrrrrible! Dryers were so bad and one did not work after I put $2 in it. The washers did not even get all the soap off the clothes. I had bought the single packaged tabs and did not overload the washers but! still had soap residue on everything! ahhhhh! It was a waste of money because I still had to rewash everything.

I would like to go offsite this time to a nice laundry mat, have enough washers and dryers to complete the job at one time, dryers that will dry, and them make a quick grocery stop on the way back.

Any ideas??

We need to do laundry every single day on holiday. My eldest son is a bed-wetter so we bring 2 sleeping bags in our luggage along with disposable sheets so the bed clothes at the hotel/resort are unaffected. So the start of each day is washing and drying the sleeping bag (or bags, as sometimes he'll go through 2 of them). He's 11 with no sign of strengthening his bladder control in the near future (numerous doctors, health books etc. - tried everything). Having said that we are so accustomed to having to do this, it's just part of every trip we take. DH and I will alternate days to do the laundry.

Oh, yeah. That's what the one bedroom at OKW is so great! Everyday a small load and everyone can wear whatever they want! Come home with clean clothes! :goodvibes
