Is there anywhere @ WDW to have eye glasses repaired? In 1999 my wife and I had just checked in @ BWI for a business conference that I had to attend. Rushed to lunch at Spoodle's.
When I picked up the menu my glasses fell in two pieces onto the table. I only had spare "up close" reading glasses with me, so I lost my mid and long range vision (wear no line tri-vocals!!). No one could tell me where to get my glasses repaired @ WDW. I was only directed to gift shop for small repair kit (i.e. little screws, etc.) which was no help at all. Needless to say, it's hard to enjoy the "magic" when you can't see it. We are going to WL in Sept. and I intend to take an extra set, BUT is repair service available onsite just in case???

That's a tough break (pun intended).
I can't think of any place on site. Maybe the concierge would help you out with this even if you are not staying concierge. Someone at your conference organizer's area might be able to help you out too. Otherwise, your best bet is to see if the nearest Walmart listed in the phone book has an optical department. I know there is a Super Target near WDW and many of those (at least in Minnesota) have optical departments. You could probably get a taxi to one of those places without too much trouble or cost.
Good luck.

Several years ago, before getting plastic lenses, I dropped my distance glasses and broke one of the lenses. Luckily I had sunglasses with the same prescription.

I found that the nearest optical shop was in Crossroads and we drove there, arriving just after they closed on a Saturday.

On Sunday I went to a Lenscrafters at (but not in, shared parking lot) Florida Mall at Sand Lake and Orange Blossom Trail. Using my sunglasses they were able to replace my lens.

I can't think of any optical shop on property or in Celebration. If you have a car available I would suggest finding a Lenscrafters or other "One Hour" type shop. Note it would not hurt to have a copy of your prescription with you.

There is a optical department at the Wal*Mart in Kissimee about a 10 minute ride from Disney.(they also thave a grocery, car care ect..) It is one of those Super Wal*Marts. Hope this helps

I honestly think your best bet is to have more than one or two pairs of glasses. Whenever I travel, my partner demands that I pack every pair in the apartment, which would entail three pair, plus one pair of prescription sunglasses.

I usually wear contacts, but my eyes bother me from time to time. I've been caught without any corrective vision whatsoever, i.e. water parks, and I'm legally blind without any assistance. It's pretty awful.

I strongly suggest you go out and buy a good pair of extra glasses BEFORE you travel!

You might also want to invest in a "good" eye repair kit. My DS has poor vision and has been in glasses since age 7mo! We have had a lot of glasses disasters! We invested in a good eye repair kit and it has saved the day many times. At 11 we have gone to contacts and it is pure heaven. As someone else posted, wal-marts are glad to repair any glasses and have done so many times in several states for us, often free.
