Does DCL buses take 528 straight back to the airport?

Also if we depart ship at 8:15, then go through customs, pick up our car park at the dcl parking lot, would that leave us with enough time to get to the airport, fill up car and get our 11:55 flight.

We are tsa approved, so there shouldn't be too much wait at security.

What are your thoughts??

Thanks

Chris

Probably. What day of the week and are you dropping of the car at an on site rental company?

Friday morning return and returning car directly at mco....dollar car rental...

You should be good unless some unforseen event happens. I wouldn't linger over breakfast. Enjoy your trip.

I wouldn't count on pre-check being problem free. I was randomly given it (as does happen to try and entice people to pay for it), and it honestly moved just as slow as the other lines because people who are clueless are always going to be clueless. Plus they tend to feed into the same scanners, so...yeah. Yes, I got through quicker because it was a little shorter, but it still was not the breeze through that I've experienced at other airports when randomly given it.

the drive from the port to MCO is about 45 minutes, straight west on 528, barring complications. Your biggest problem is getting gas as you don't pass any stations! My suggestion is at the airport exit go NORTH on Semoran 1 mile to Lee Vista Drive. Here you'll find a Wawa ... a good place to fuel up (watch out for other stations on Sem' around here as this is where the famous fuel 'clip joints' are .... charging crazy gas prices .).

Once fueled up just go back the way you came and you run straight into the airport.

One warning .... there are few exits on 528 and as mentioned no services. Routinely an accident will close the road ... when this happens you won't be allowed on .... if already on you can be stuck, unable to get off. The alternate route can add an hour to your travel time. It doesn't happen every day or every week ... but at least once a month it does.

Here's a web site where you can get local traffic in near real time: http://www.mynews13.com//content/news/cfnews13/traffic.html

p.s. on a very recent trip out of MCO with a morning weekday departure dw had PRE and I did not. She was thru security in about 5 minutes. Took me almost 10 ....

Maybe that'a a good reason to let DCL do your transportation back to the airport instead of renting a car.

id also do DCL transport.... after you pay for port parking and rental car fees, I think DCL transport would be much cheaper and easier

We did two, one-way rentals. That way, no parking fees or rental fees while you are on the ship. True it means going through the "rental" process twice, but it isn't as hard as it used to be, and it gave us a lot of flexibility.

I was just about to ask a question about this. I wondered if two one-way rentals would be best if you want to rent before and after a four day cruise. I figured it would be cheaper than parking at port. I just know that taking the shuttle to the port from the rental car place can be a bit of a hassle.

Well, it does mean going to the rental car place at the port, both before and after the cruise. And waiting for the shuttle can take some amount of time. We used Budget and they had 4 shuttles of various sizes running continually to and from the port. So the wait wasn't too bad. Also some people report an extra charge for a one-way rental, we did not encounter that.

One thing that we did on the way there was to drop off everyone except the driver at the port before returning the car. This way, the rest of the group could check in the luggage and go through security. It also meant that only the driver had to ride the shuttle back to the port, and I had no bags at that point, so it made it easier too.

On the way back, we all took the shuttle to the Rental company, but had the driver (me) at the front of our group. We couldn't all fit in the first shuttle, but the driver got in, so by the time the rest of our group got there, I had already rented the car and was ready for them.

Check the math, and see how much two, one-way rentals might save you, but for us it was definitely worth it.
