LITC he is sooooooooooo adorable!!!!!:love::love::love:

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH! Passing along another million hugs to Baby Walter. He looks like he's saying "What's the big fuss about? I'm adorable and I know it...no big deal!" He's just laying back enjoying having his pic taken! I
was trying to be very careful with handing out kisses with the flu scare and all! I am honored that I'm allowed! :cloud9: So just throw in a few whenever the mood hits! (That way I'll know he gets a lot!) :rolleyes1

I refuse to turn on the heat but my toes were chilly this am...45!!! No sun yet...It's going to get to 63! I'm not ready for winter...but I don't want 90's either. Hard to please aren't I?

I don't have any brothers or sisters...In a way I know I have missed out...but in most ways I'm happy about it. I was not spoiled with material thinigs which we did not have but I know I was the favorite! When I see Mom with friend's kids and grandkids, I know she would have been the same with all her children. But I see many examples of that not happening in other families.

LITC Baby Walter is so adorable. I want to hold him. :cloud9:

Nice to know I don't have the only nutso family. Of course I've read other threads here about families. :surfweb: Right now my mom has decided to redo her trust so my weird sister won't get as much. All I can tell it's about not visiting my mom enough. :confused3 Of course my mom thinks the universe revolves around her. :worship: Probably my sis didn't want to visit and said so in her not so nice way she has about her. Family.. :headache:

Okay, this will be the last of my pictures. We left Denali on the train and went to Fairbanks. We rode a riverboat and panned for gold. (Two different tours).

BKMETV, is your hearing back to normal after the noisy school trip? You are braver than I am. 40 kids at once sounds pretty scary!

M&N, good job keeping up the moral around here! I like those bouncy smileys. Not sure they spurred me to move any more but they were cheery!
I think you are right on the money when you pointed out how many parents do not treat their children the same. That was a HUGE source of contention in my family and many other families I know of. I cannot imagine loving one of my children more than the other. Of course, they might tell you different. My son probably thinks I love my DD more cause she is the baby and somewhat rotten while DD would probably say I love her brother more cause "he always gets to do things that I don't!" Sometimes you may treat them a little differently at different stages in life but you can still love them the same.

Pikester, if there had been one less kid in your smiley I would have thought that my family had been captured as smileys. You sure do have a sparkly potty! You are braver than I am too!

LITC, that's what we are here for! I will be glad to offer my support anytime you need it. Have a fun anniversary celebration! Walter is absolutely precious! Makes me wish mine were still babies. M&N is being very thoughtful about not offering too many hugs so she doesn't spread any germs. You be careful out there with that boy because it is just crazy how many people don't even give it a second thought to hug a baby even when they are sick!

JOCAmom, sorry you are another of the ones stuck with a disfunctional family. Were you always aware of it? Me, I must have saw my life through rose colored glasses. Guess up until I got past the teenage years I was so focused on myself I never paid much a ttention to things going on around me. Anyway, when my sister hit about 30 (I would have been 25) all kinds of stuff hit the fan. It was all downhill after that. Anyway, I agree that many times it is better to not even expose your kids to some things even if it means them not knowing much about the extended family tree.

Oh boy! I have a new sister!!! Thanks, D&DDisney! Now be advised that we don't tend to throw big parties so don't be surprised if you don't start getting a lot of invitations. Of course, if I did send you one I would certainly understand if you were unable to make it...being so far away... but I would still send one! Here's a  for my new sis! I was just explaining to my DD a few days ago about another of my friends being more like a sister to me than my real one. Guess I can now tell her about her new aunt.

DL55, aaah, another one of us with the crazy family gene. So, does that make M&N and whgrn the only one with normal families? Anyway, please tell your mom to be very careful of what sort of mess she leaves behind for you and your sister to sort through. Having been there I can tell you that snubbing one member of the family can cause more problems later down the line... some of which can result in it being impossible for the ones left behind to get over. (ie, my GM left out my mom, my mom left out my sister so now we are the ones left with the wreckage of what used to be my family.)
Okay, enough of that! OOOh! I love train rides! Gonna have to show my DH your bush pilot photo. He has always thought that that would be the coolest job! I love the Eskimo outfit! Did you get you one for those cold NM days?

Today is our 20th anniversary! So hard to believe that it has been that long! When we were first married we had both been married before. We both had a pretty poor track record and neither of us had been very successful at making it past a couple years with someone, much less 20 years! Now we get to laugh and say how we just keep breaking those records. Gonna keep our celebration low key. DS has Jiu-Jitsu tonight so we will just go out to eat tomorrow night. Life is good! Now to start working on 21....

mariezp Happy Anniversary!
I didn't get the Eskimo outfit. That parka cost $25,000! (all fur):laughing:

JOCAmom My camera is a Sony Cybershot. Not very expensive but I knew I won't take lots of pictures. I like that I can put it in my pocket. Don't like the slow shutter speed but figure I won't be taking too many action shots.

Before I forget,

maire: You asked me about my DS11 and how he likes Karate. I can not remember if it was here in this thread or if you posted it in another that we both post in. Tyler loves it! He is a Junior Black Belt(Joshu-Shoban) in the art of Goju-Ryu Karate-Do. He is also a white belt in Kubudo(weaponry).

Also,

Happy Anniversary!

I refuse to turn on the heat but my toes were chilly this am...45!!! No sun yet...It's going to get to 63! I'm not ready for winter...but I don't want 90's either. Hard to please aren't I?

It's 66 in my living room right now. I refuse to turn on the heat. I have on a jacket and I'm just fine. The kids will survive too. It sure got cold fast!

does that make M&N and whgrn the only one with normal families?

:lmao::lmao::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::lmao::lmao::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: That is the funniest thing I've heard in a long time! My family is so far from normal it isn't funny! But we put the "fun" in dysfunctional. If nothing else, we are nice people and we love each other, so the craziness isn't too bad. But normal? Not in this lifetime!:lmao:

Happy Anniversary!!

Happy Anniversary! I have 2 friends who got 'gems' the 2nd time around and could not be happier.

My Mom has sisters that have problems with each other and their kids---although they would never admit that they have snowflakes! We are just lucky enough to have moved 300 miles away when I was 2 so I never got that involved in it. Mom said that getting away was a good thing. They were 23 at the time. I know I have several cousins who would be here for me if I needed them. And one of my aunts is only 2+ years older than me. We will be visiting her and another aunt in NC in Oct.

No more Alaska pics? I was so enjoying them. It was a wonderful trip. I would have loved the train ride too. What do you feel is 'the' place you must not miss if you go to Alaska?

I was out flower shopping today and it was nippy...almost needed gloves! There are several Amish places I get from. I got 2 little pots of multicolored flowers for 2.50 each. They were blooming just enough to see they were multicolored. I still want a few more but will wait. I got a container with 3 ornamental cabbages and some brown tall grass in the middle. I put it in my bird bath (the birds don't come to it) with some little gourds. I have to get to the basement and get the door thing...don't remember what I used for fall before the pilgrims!

Evening all

Thought I'd stop by and say Hi before Survivior starts...I missed last week so I have to catch up.

LITC ~ Another kiss for Walter from me...he's TOO CUTE !!

One of the "Mommy Mafia" (what the husbands call the group of Moms I do coffee with) is currently in labour so I'm looking forward to kissing a cuddling a little one in the few days.

Marie ~ Happy Anniversary...20 years is a great accomplishment now a days. And yes I survived the school trip...but I've had a headache ever since...not sure if it was the screaming or the wine I drank when I got home. :rotfl:

Pike ~ Nice job on the toilet...I don't clean those anymore...thank goodness for my cleaning lady...I just do the clorox wipe thing now especially after DS pees all over the seat...gotta love boys.:sad2:

Great pics DL55

Fall arrived here as well...I've started cleaning out all the flower etc...and bought my fall mums for the front steps today...can't believe it's Oct already. Better go and pick up DS at karate.

Hi everyone. We got the cold weather here too already. I don't want to turn on our heat either but if it gets any colder, I just might have to.

DL55, those were really great pictures and I'm sorry you won't be posting anymore. I'll have to look into the camera you have. You said it fits into your pocket? I have a one of those larger cameras that I've been using everywhere but I don't always want to bring a bag with me. A pocket size camera would be perfect.

BKMETV, you watch Survivor? Cool, that's one of my favorite shows.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, marie!!!! Wishing you many, many more.

I know you all said you came together because of the whole thread killing deal but are you sure it's not because of the whole wacky family thing? It's nice to know there are others out there with the same kind of problems.

Amen!!!! I'll bring my 101 Things to Make With Tomatoes book along.

We do try to concentrate on immediate family but still get together w/ the extended family so that the kids can spend time w/ cousins.
I'll be your pseudo-sister!!! I only have one sis too and we're not close.

LITC - Those pics are soooo adorable!!!!!:lovestruc

JOCA - I am glad to know I'm not alone in the crazy family dept. Stay warm!

PiKester - Great smilies - as always. I am proud of you getting your toilets to sparkle like that. Can you come do mine????:lmao:

M&N - Here some more movement for ya! :dancer::jumping1::maleficen:mickeyjum:goofy:

Thank you so much!

LITC, those pics are so great. He is so adorable. And he just looks so content with everything. As you said, "he's chillin".

Isn't he funny like that? And thank you!

LITC he is sooooooooooo adorable!!!!!:love::love::love:

Thanks Wendy! We are so in love!!

LOL - I' working in the million there for you, although it is a copletely enjoyable assignment! I know I can trust my TK family to help me keep baby Walter healthy!

LITC Baby Walter is so adorable. I want to hold him. :cloud9:

Thanks DL - if we ever get to meet I'm sure Walter expects all his TK aunties to hold him and love him up!

I'll also just quickly mention a good part of our family relationships are in the toilet as well, of course these days I can't be bothered with them!

Hey there Ev! A kiss for Walter - happy to do it!

Marie - Just realized I forgot to say happy anniversary to you! Hope it was special, 20 years deserves it!

Hey gang - not only will Walter be 4 weeks old at 10:49pm tonight, but today is/was his due date! :goodvibes So lucky to already have had 4 weeks of beauty with him.

Morning all:

Very cold and gray here today.

BKMETV, you watch Survivor? Cool, that's one of my favorite shows.

Hey JO, just call me Ev, it's much easier. Yes I watch Survivor...last night Russell actually started to grow on me...I can't believe how stupid the rest of them are. At least he's playing the game. Doing yoga rather than any work??? They think they're at Club Med!!

My friend had her baby girl just after midnight so I guess there's a trip to the hospital over the weekend otherwise I'm hoping just to putter around the yard. They were here on Tues and closed the pool so we need to lock up all the pool stuff.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I'm trying to wean myself away from Survivor. I get so mad at them. Especially the young ones. If they really had to survive, they wouldn't. You need water, food and shelter NOT yoga. :sad2: I've noticed this tendency for quite awhile now.

M&N Denali is a must if you visit Alaska! If you do a cruise you need to do a whale watching tour out of Juneau.

Well, Fall has officially fell! I woke up this morning to a 61 degrees house. I gave in and turned on the heat--imagine getting out of the shower into that cold!

Got a call from the school this morning and my first thought was "oh Lord, what did DS do now???" But it was the nurse. DS was in her office, flushed and glassy eyed, complaining of feeling "cr*ppy", and with a nasty cough. So over to the school I go to collect my sick little man. He looked awful. We went right to the doctor and she and I were thinking the same thing--flu-like symptoms (including body aches!) But she did a swab test for the flu and it was negative. THANK YOU GOD!!! I brought him home and put him to bed with a cup of tea, and he rested a while. Now he feels a bit better and is playing with his Knex. Looking less flushed too. What a relief!

I do believe I have a new favorite TV show. Has anyone seen FastForward? OMG I LOVE it! I stumbled onto it last night after Wheel of Fortune, and I was hooked within about 10 minutes. Went back and watched last week's episode (the first one of the series) online, and set my TiVo to record the whole series. I am totally enthralled!

The lawn guys are here today cleaning up my yard, trimming trees and shrubs, pulling weeds, etc. It already looks SO much better! Very happy about that!

I just do the clorox wipe thing now especially after DS pees all over the seat...gotta love boys.:sad2:
Why is it that boys can't aim??? For goodness sake, its a big enough target!!!!:headache: Guess I need a cleaning lady/man.

Have to share some good news (since I've been such a Debbie Downer lately) from a very proud mommy...
My DS7 was just nominated for the Gifted and Talented program at school. :yay: :cool1:Teacher stopped me today to tell me. Guess he has stunned her with all his presidential and political knowledge and vocabulary. I always knew he was bright and excited about learning, but never would have labeled it gifted. We'll see how this plays out. Just had to share my excitement!!!:cloud9:

Thanks for all the happy anniversary wishes from everyone. We had a nice quiet evening at home but will be going out for dinner tonight. I had DH bring in Braum's junior burgers last night in honor of our earlier years together. When we first got married if my saintly MIL had not fed us so often we would have probably starved. We were pretty poor. She cooked breakfast and lunch for his company and would send us leftovers all the time. On many days she and DH's dad would ride into town to get out of the house and on most Fridays pick up my Step-D for the weekend. They would always stop at Braum's and bring us home a whole bag full of junior burgers. They taste just as good today as they did back then. I am very sure it is not because they are great burgers but more because of the sentimental memories.

Wow, DL55! I would have had to pass on the parka too! They are sure proud of their Eskimo attire, aren't they?

Yippee, Pikester! You are under 2 months til WDW! I hit my 60 day mark today. I wonder how Kitty and Shmu are doing?
It sounds like your son is doing very well in his Karate. Seems like one thing leads to another. My DS does the Jiu-Jitsu, of course, but every now and then he will attend a Tae Kwon Do or Judo class to pick up yet another skill. He hasn't done anything with weaponry though. What sort of weapons so they use in the Kubudo? Bet that's scary to watch. I don't like the TKD so much cause it has the kickboxing and much rougher physical contact. My DS is in much better physical shape than I ever was. I never ever had that much discipline! (of course, now you can really see where that got me!) I see BKMETV has a Karate son too!

So Ev, what type of Karate is your son involved in?
My boys have trouble aiming at the potty too. You would think that someone who has done it for 50+ years could finally hit the darn target!

whgrn, I am glad I gave you such a good laugh by trying to include you and your family in the "normal" category. I guess we will throw your name in with the rest of us and our "challenged" families. So it appears that we have no choice than to let M&N be the sole person around here to claim the title of "normal" unless someone else steps forward.
I hope DS gets feeling better soon AND doesn't pass it along to the rest of the family.

M&N, I gotta fess up. It took me 3 times to find my gem. When you hear me make mention of some of the stupid things I have done in the past, my past marriages fall into that realm. There was a time when I apparently thought I couldn't live without someone else to make me happy. After much heartache and many improvements I have finally learned that the happiness had to come from with in. Thankfully, the 3rd time appears to be a charm cause I am not planning to ever do marriage again!
I love bird bath flower gardens. I put some moss rose in mine this year cause i finally got tired of it being either empty or full of moss. I have enjoyed the flowers much more and so have the butterflies!

JOCAmom, you may be on to something. Maybe with us all being dysfunctional we were drawn towards each other. Looks like we will be coming to the end of another thread before way long. (we are on page 172) Maybe we should work something about that into our next title.... the DIS DYS TKer thread.

LITC, that's right! You concentrate on the most important thing right now... that sweet little baby boy! Hard to believe it has already been 4 weeks!

D&DDisney, congratulations to you and your DS for being such a smarty! I bet he got it from his mother, right?
