Shmu...I'm twice as old as you DD and I STILL have to call my mother whenver I'm out....

Oh, I'll ask her about Muffin. That's a cute name! And their story is so cute too. I'll add his safety to my prayer list.

Pepper and I are friends again! (on FB now too!)

Kendall is 18 and Nick 21 and they both get so mad at me for making them check in. Oh well...I'm a worrier

MagiKitty, I hope your TA sends your travel stuff soon so you are not stressed out right up until the last minute. Just think of all the great things you and your sweety have coming up and maybe that will keep you distracted.
Your shopping trip made me with a chuckle. I always though the thongs would be very uncomfortable. Makes me cringe just thinking about it! Apparently there are a bunch out there who do like them cause they sure have a large selection every time I walk by the intimates department.

pepperw23, thanks for accepting me as your friend! :yay:
If I am an "acclaimed farmer" on Farmtown it is only because it is pretty easy! I always make sure to never plant anything that doesn't take several days to die.

Shmu, I sent you friend requests on FB.

D&D, if we get a chance to meet up at WDW I think we better do it without the kids. If your son is a chick magnet my DD will be sure to follow him around like a puppy! Hormones!

Speaking of hormones.... I know I was a young girl long ago but I don't remember when some of those girl things started happening. DD is only 9 and has been complaining about her chest being tender and one side being "hard as a rock". She is very modest so I can't intrude too much but I am a bit worried. Do ya'll remember this being normal or does anyone think it is something I should be worried about?

LivinInTheCastle, you deserve a little pampering right now. Glad you were able to treat yourself to a pedi. Hope you have fun at the shower and get a lot of wonderful baby goodies!

Poor Racetrack having to send her baby off to school. I don't know how mothers do it. Lucky me, I haven't had to go through that.

Good morning! Still raining here....couldn't sleep though. Have taken not liking my new book very personally. Forcing myself through a few more chapters....

Marie, children are approaching puberty much younger now, much earlier than we did. The average age cited is 9-11 for girls. Breast buds are usually the earliest signs, so although she may be developing, it may be years before she gets her monthly visit. Feeling "hard as a rock" is rather unusual though, I would try to ask what exactly she means by that. Seems like you're going to have to take her for training bras soon!

My younger niece developed early also, I think arount ten. But she just got her "friend" last week, at the age of 14. Every girl is different.

Some studies think it has something to do with hormones in food that is causing earlier development in children. Some studies hypothesize that its just that we're eating healthier now, food is abundant and its the body recognizing that it can handle puberty earlier without other health issues to consider.

I remember I got my first period on the first day of 8th grade. I was 12 and had to have my Dad take me to the store. talk about life changing! :lmao:

Good morning TKers :hippie:

Wow, I have made it over here 3 times in less than 24 hours. That's a record for me lately.

Yay, Marie and I are FB friends now.:thumbsup2

Kitty and Pepper, I'm going to share with DD about what you said about still checking in. She thinks I am treating her like a baby. She wants to grow up so fast. She just doesn't get how unsafe the world is. She is a very independent young lady which makes me proud, but she has to learn that being independent and safe are different.

I do think kids are entering into puberty earlier these days. I remember DD complaining about her breasts feeling hard as rocks when she first started to develop. It was just her description. They weren't really that hard, just felt very hard to her since it was new. Maybe sit down and get a more specific description.

I am so excited today. Tomorrow is our Anniversary. 23 years.
Today we are just going to hang around the house and maybe go see Julie and Julia later on. (Great movie by the way. I saw it several weeks ago as a celebration of finishing my first research paper. Got an A by the way.:))

DH hasn't seen it and wants to. It's worth viewing a second time. Especially since we still get to go free while DS is working at theater.

Tomorrow we are taking off. Just getting in the car and going. Stopping when we feel like stopping. I'm ready to disappear for a while. Can't stay overnight anywhere but just traveling a little during the day will be nice.

Have a great day everyone. Sorry about the rain where you are Kitty. It finally cleared up hear. Horrible yesterday.

Happy Weekend Everyone,

It is
2.gif
here just like Pikester's neck of the woods. Very cold too. Only in 50s, windy and rainy. AND...of corse, today is DH's company picnic. :sad2: That's 2 years in a row that the weekend they picked for picnic is cold and rainy. Oh well, I guess we'll just bundle up this evening. :cold: What the heck happened to summer????

LITC - I am so glad to hear you pampered yourself a bit. You deserve it. Have a great time at your shower.

Kitty - Not sure why thongs were ever invented or who in the world would wear one. :confused3 Any man that thinks they are sexy should try one on for size first. They wouldn't last 10 min!!!
It is funny how you said your "1st monthyly visitor" came on the first day of 8th grade cause I had the same thing. Are you sure we weren't sisters in another life??? Dorithy Hamil twins.

Shmu - Happy Anniversary!!!!
9.gif
Enjoy your "drive" tomorrow! ;)

Marie - Perfectly normal for girls around 9. I can remember vividly somewhere around 9-10 when jumping rope became very painful for me. I think your DD is right on schedule.

Pepper - I can't believe your kids are 18 & 20. You must have been a baby when they were born.

Well, we're off to the zoo for the picnic in the rain. This next part is for Pikester and anyone else who has that corny sense of humor...
At the zoo tonight, they have this bird exhibit where you get to feed birds by holding out a stick w/ seed on it. Anyway, my DH's company was hyping the event by telling everyone "Hold out your stick so the birds will land on it and eat the tasty treat. This will be a great photo opportunity." :rotfl2: :rotfl2:Of corse my DH, some of his co-workers (and I when he told me) were laughing hysterically. We're so immature.

Send some of that rain down south!
beg.gif

Thanks girls for talking me down and helping me confirm that DD is "blossoming". I think her description may have been a bit exaggerated but I am feeling like that is what we are dealing with. I had a pretty good idea but had not even thought about it happening so soon! She's my baby. :sad1: I went ahead and mentioned it to DH and DS. DS so he would take it easy on her when they are playing around and DH so he could brace himself for things a coming. He is hoping for senility when she kicks into full the blown hormonal stages. Lordy, they grow up so fast!

Shmu, good to see you back again so soon. :thumbsup2 Keep up the good work!
I don't think any kids ever have any idea of just how dangerous the world can really be. I know I didn't. Amazing how looking through the eyes as an adult ends up changing your vision.
23 years is great! That is really something to be proud of. Have a wonderful day celebrating!

My DS got me started on a kick of watching movies online. I watched "Sleepless in Seattle" a few days ago for my first time after having heard so much about it. I thought it was cute but didn't like they way it ended so abruptly. This morning I watched "The Notebook". Now at least that one ended the way it was supposed to! Of course, I ended up in tears. Today the family sat down together and watched "McClintok". Quite the change of genres but it was entertaining. Tonight we will be sitting down and letting DH watch "Tombstone" with us. I have a feeling we will be spouting quotes about huckleberries for days.

Hi Kitty, Pikester, D&D and everyone else. Hope everyone is having a good day. One more thing to leave you all with. Since you asked, Shmu, this one's for you!

It seems that Mary Poppins has moved to California. She has started a business telling people's fortunes. But, she doesn't read palms or tea leaves, she smells one's breath. That, right, the sign outside reads: Super California Mystic Expert Halitosis.

Good evening ladies....the rain never let up here. Pikester, there is no way I sent it to you, coz its still here. I'd gladly send it anywhere its needed, as long as its not in my backyard. Enough already!

Shmu....congrats on your anniversary with DH. How wonderful! Hope you have fantastic weather and a wonderful adventure tomorrow.

BF is going out with "the boys" so I'm planning a date with my couch, trashy magazines and search for some sappy tv movie to watch. Seriously, I have a month left until my trip and there's nothing left for me to plan! I supposed I should start making my list for packing, but since packing would actually require some cleaning on my part, I'm ignoring it for a while.

D&D...that is so funny about our first monthly visitor. Kinda weird too. The only good thing is that I was still in Catholic school and had to wear a navy blue jumper. (I also was sporting Madonna gloves and booties, but we won't discuss that).

On the Mary Poppins note, I have never seen her at Disney. I've heard she sometimes makes an appearance at Akershus, and sometimes in England. I've made it a mission to find her this trip!

Good morning! the sun has finally come out to play! not terribly warm, but I'll take it!

Bopsmom...thanks so much for the link! its dangerous though, coz I realized there are so many characters that I haven't seen! I've added to my list: Gepetto, Marie, Cinderella's StopMother and sisters, and the Mad hatter. I did see the Mad Hatter once from afar, I was on a tour and he was riding the tea cups! I went back after we finished, but he was gone....:sad2:

Evening LITC! Glad you managed to get some pampering in. I'm sure it felt wonderful to have your feet taken care of. OMG! Only 35 days to go! And have so much fun at your shower on Sunday! I'll be there in spirit!

So regards to names, do you have one for a girl, one for a boy? Or did you make a list? How did you find names to consider? I guess this is a question for all the Mommys out there. How did you decide the names for your children? Its a huge responsibility!

Ok, OT....I went to Victoria's Secret today. I had a coupon for a free travel kit with any pink purchase. So I bought a single panty and got the kit for free--perfect for my carryon and its pink! Also today, if you made a pink purchase, you got a free lacy thong. I'm staring at it right now. I cannot understand it at all. Why would you subject yourself to that itty bitty torture? Even if you're skinny, the thong would do the same horrible things to you!

If my BF wanted me to wear a thong, I think I may be looking for a new boyfriend....or else make him wear one and we'll call it even.

LITC....Kimora Lee Simmons makes a line of high end Hello Kitty jewelry. they are so cute and so expensive. I did order a Hello Kitty skin for my phone that I'm very excited about.....and it only cost me $5! I guess it doesn't take much to amuse me.

It is raining something fierce here! Its good sleeping weather....

Thanks Kitty-we had a nice time today-I can't believe how much stuff we DID get, yet how much we stll have to go!!!!!!!!!! :scared1:
I think I have seen the Kimora jewelry, although honestly there is something about her that rubs me the wrong way so I would not be able to buy something from "her"!!
As far as names, we bought a baby name book, we got a few ideas out of it. Once I knew I was preganant I looked any and ever where for names. I watched names at the end of tv show and movie credits. Since we produce yearbooks at my work, I looked through sample yearbooks we had in the building, just everywhere. We have it narrowed down to the top 3 ( I think) but we have not made any decision yet.
And as far as the thong thing. No way, no how. Can you maybe sell i on ebay for a few bucks??

MagiKitty, I hope your TA sends your travel stuff soon so you are not stressed out right up until the last minute. Just think of all the great things you and your sweety have coming up and maybe that will keep you distracted.

Hey Marie- the pedi really was nice. When they massaged my legs it was one of the best feelings ever!

Good morning TKers :hippie:

It's late but I just wanted to stop by and say hello. So....

Hello Tkers!

I hope you all had a great day! :yay:

Well, it's official. I made my ADRs today for my Nov/Dec 2009 trip! Since we are doing the Quick Service Plan to try it out I only needed to make 2 ADRs this time which we will be paying OOP. I got Hoop-Dee-Doo for 5:00PM, Cat 1 on Dec 1st and I got Tusker House character breakfast for 8:10AM on Dec 3rd. Both of those were exactly when I wanted them!:woohoo:

Now I suppose I better get off my duff and go do something around here.

Have a good day!

I'm here! Good morning Pikester and everyone else! Wow, slow weekend here. I guess everyone was enjoying summer and/or getting ready for school.

Yeah Pikester on getting your ADRs! I've never done either one of those, so I look forward to hearing all about it. And thank you so much for the thoughtful card you sent.

The twins went back to college this weekend. I think this one was more emotional than last year! My nephew is going to try college and see how he feels. If he feels he can't handle it, he has three weeks to withdraw without penalty. I hope it doesn't come to that, but I also hope that he's honest enough with himself to recognize what it best for him.

Still waiting for the arrival of my travel documents. this waiting is driving me crazy!

I couldn't sleep last night, so I decided to.....wait for it....clean! :scared1: It was only my bedside table, but boy did that acquire a lot of garbage! Now it looks all organized and shiny. Can't ignore the cleaning bug if it bites. Its very rare that I have the cleaning urge!

Let's have a good day everyone! Enjoy our Monday!

:dancer:party::jumping1:Kids go back to school. Woo hoo!! :dancer::dance3::cheer2:
But wait...I have to go back to work too... :guilty: Never mind.

DL55 - Are you back yet???

I see it has been quiet here. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Shmu - So... are you going to give us some good hints on where you went "driving" this weekend??

Kitty - Will be praying for you niece and nephew as the new year starts. Hope that despite everything that has happened, it will be a good year for both of them.

I need to get ready to leave in a little bit for classes so I do not have a whole lot of time but I had a second.

Wanted to share real quick what we did for Anniversary and share a few pics since not all of you are on FB.

Adding some pics here first....but the DIS is VERY slow right now so we will see if this works.

Saturday -- DH and I went and saw Julie and Julia. He LOVED it. Second time for me and I loved seeing it again.

Sunday -- Woke up and went to McDonald's for breakfast. Reason-- When DH and I went to get engagement ring he only had enough $ to get us a Super Combo meal at McDonald's and we had to share. Best meal I have ever had and I really don't like their food. What love young does.

Then we headed up to Cleveland, GA and stopped by Babyland General--Home of the Cabbage Patch doll. I have a lot of pics but can only share a few right now. Wanted MagicKitty to see a few since she LOVES dolls. I thought about you when we were there.

Next we went to Helen, GA. All the architecture is of a German town. We ate lunch at the Trolls Tavern and sat on the patio watching people tube down the river. Fun.

We shopped. Bought fudge and funnel cake. Yummy. Also bought some wine made in GA we tried at a wine tasting in one of the shops. Mmmmm.

Heading out of town we stopped in an Antique store that was in a house from the 1800's. I enjoyed looking at the house more than the stuff.

Then we stopped at a Mexican restaurant closer to home and talked about our day. We had a GREAT time.

169.jpg

Old Raggedy Ann and Andy. I had a Raggedy Ann I carried everywhere with me when I was little.

237.jpg

One of the rooms of Babyland. Set up as a school room. Puny is in one of the windows.

242.jpg

Same room at the desks. Puny joined the class.

Wish I could add more but that's all the time I have for now. I have a pic with a Cabbage Patch doll wearing Crocs.:rotfl2:and some Nascar Babies too. I'll add them when I can. Gotta go get that degree.:teacher:

OMG! Is it my computer or the Dis today that is so slow? I suppose the combination of the two is extra extra slow.

Shmu....thanks for sharing the pics! they're wonderful! What a great way to celebrate your anniversary. the McDonalds story is so cute and sentimental. I remember my first Cabbage Patch doll...my parents drove to Toronto for it! She had brown hair (back when it was yarn) and she smelled like baby powder. CPKs were one of the first to have Asian babies too. Fond memories!

I got to see my little boyfriend Puny too.

D&D....how's school for all of you going?

Hello everyone. I was late getting home. Mom had a dentist and dr appointment today. Plus we had to ge to the store for the things she forgot on Sat. I sure didn't mind...it beats going to work! Today was my district's first day. At least it's not hot. It actually felt like fall this am. I think it's going to be in the 70's all week. I'm sure Racer is hating it.

Kitty: Hope the college kids are settling in ok. Please don't get so desperate you need to clean! Someone loaned me Dear John by N. Sparks...that was soooo good....a real tear jerker. I didn't especially like the ending either...wanted more I guess but then it wouldn't have been the same impact I guess. I have to read some more of his. I did the Notebook.

D&D: Sorry about having to go back to work but you'll be fine. There was a joke about this woman saying things to encourage the other person to get up and get off to school--the punch line was that it was the principal she was motivating!

Prof Shoe: Happy Anniv late...sounds like you had a great time. Thanks for the pics (I'm a non-facebooker) and it was just so special to see Puny again! Not many people would share their special time with him too! Add me to the list of calling Mom when I get home at night or whenever I leave her house to come home. But then my parents would let me know if they were out and would be home later than they said. We just called it being considerate.

LITC: Glad those toes are pretty! Hope you are resting up. Getting those little clothes washed up and ready?

Don't remember who else I missed...so I'll just add a general hi to all TKers out there
