Oh Bopsmom....I LOVE LOVE ADR talk!

ok, are you buffet people? Character people? Are you willing to eat unfamiliar?

CS:
@MK: Cosmic Rays and Pecos Bills
@DHS: we like Toy Story
@AK: Flame tree Barbecue
@EPCOT: we like England and Norway and Morocco! YUM!
@DTD: Earl of Sandwich

TS is far more difficult. What are you interested in? We've never eaten at Beirgarten. I like Tokyo Dining, but I love sushi (that's not where they hibachi in front of you). We're trying a lot of new places this trip.

We attended the candlelight processional without the reservations. We just went during the week and went early.

I'm interested in Kouzzina too! Sounds good, but I just couldn't figure out a way to fit it in this time....let's talk ADRs!

Hello TKers! Have a little surprise for you all!!

Walter Frank decided to join us early, Friday September 4, 2009 at 10:49pm. He weighed in at 8 pounds 1 ounce and is 20 inches long. He was 4 weeks early, but a wonderful surprise. He is gorgeous and perfect and I am in love! Will try to start stopping in more, but we will see how tired I am!!

Yeah! You stopped by...I've been absolutely glowing thinking about baby Walter. He's so gorgeous! And so photogenic!

I know you're tired, but when you get the chance, you need to change your ticker. Baby Walter is three days old!

Big kisses and hugs to all of you...congrats congrats congrats!

I promise to change it soon, better get going for now. Not only am I exhausted, but my new addition is fussing! See you all soon!

Hi everyone.

LivinInTheCastle, Congratulations!!!! He sure is beautiful. Enjoy him and your new Mommyhood.

Magikitty, you asked if we were moving because of the high school here. That is a major part of it. Besides our house being too small for all of us. The high school here and school district in general has gone down hill in recent years. MY son doesn't even get homework even though he is in special education. Sometimes it feels like they are passing him along to keep their grad rates up. We noticed it last year and thought it was fluke with the teacher but it is already happening this year. We just can't take the chance anymore. His future is at stake.

Bopsmom, we went to Park Faire for dinner a few year ago. I found the food to be typical Disney buffet food. Not bad but not outstanding. But the character interaction was wonderful. My youngest didn't like the Prince and she hid under the table. Don't ask, it was totally embarrassing. But he bent down and coaxed her out. She still wouldn't take a picture with him but at least she wasn't under the table anymore. My husband's favorite place to eat is Ohana's. He's a meat and potatoes kind of guy and any place that brings skewers of meat to your table is a hit with him.

I promise to change it soon, better get going for now. Not only am I exhausted, but my new addition is fussing! See you all soon!

Congrats LITC and Welcome Baby Walter.
What did I say about LABOR DAY?!:lmao:
He's beautiful.
8 pounds and early-*shudders at thought of what he'd be full-term*
:dance3:I am so happy he is here and all is well.:dance3:

Congrats!!! LITC, a new little pirate: for you! What a cutie! Bet you're glad THAT's over!:lmao:

BTW, I do believe I was correct on the length...

Bopsmom, I LOVE LTT--we go there every trip. At Epcot, The Rose & Crown in England is my very favorite (their Shepherd's Pie is to die for...). And Flame Tree BBQ at AK is awesome as well. As far as DHS, we went to the 50's Prime Time Diner (or whatever it's called) and LOVED it. Just stay away from Pizza Planet--worst pizza I ever ate in the US! BTW, sorry to hear your SIL is a b*tch like D&D's sister. Y'all really have me counting my blessings!

Well, the kids are off to school. :dance3::yay::cool1::worship::banana::thumbsup2 (hmmm, can ya tell I'm happy about it?) DS refuses to bring a lunchbox because they don't get to go to their lockers after lunch (how stupid is that?!?) so he would have to carry his lunch box all afternoon. So I packed him a peanut butter and banana sandwich in a brown paper bag, and froze his milk so it will be cold at lunchtime. (if it doesn't thaw, he has milk money just in case!) Such a production! DD is buying today--I let them each choose 3 days a month to buy. Today is her all time favorite, "Rib-e-que". Basically boneless ribs but she loves them. At least she picks some decent stuff. DS chose pizza, mozzarella sticks, and some other "kid food" that he shouldn't be eating. Oh well, gotta give them SOME leeway... Anyway, can you believe milk is 50 cents? When I was in HS, LUNCH was 50 cents! (OK, so I'm seriously dating myself here) Just amazing.

So, today I am going to put on my good clothes and go put in an application for a school nurse sub. Been putting it off forever, but it's time. This is the busy time of year, so I know I'll get called. And at least my hours are the same as the kids!

Off and running...

Good morning ladies! I see we have really exciting news! Congratulations LITC. He is BEAUTIFUL! Isn't it simply amazing the feelings that well up inside of you when you see your babies face for the first time. Strongest feeling I have ever felt! Hi little Walter! :wave2:

TMcDwyer, I have been right there with you... staying offsite and making ADRs almost every morning. I have done most online but did have to call one morning to make my Candlelight Package ressies. Your plans look pretty good to me. Your kids are gonna love those makeovers! You will have to be sure to post pictures for us to see. We will be at WDW in December too.
What part of Colorado are you in? My husband used to go elk hunting just south of Pagosa Springs. He went for 20+ years. (until I derailed him to Disney) He always thought he would love to live up there but it is way too cold for me. Sounds like a good deal with your parents. I wish my parents were still around to take to Disney with me.
That thread did end up pretty heartwarming! :goodvibes I would have been completely inconsolable! It did bring some memories back for me. When I had went on one of our first trips with DH to Colorado I lost my purse with ALL our money. Mine never got returned. Thank heavens DH's uncle took mercy on us and wired us some money. That was one of the times that my DH really came through for me. He knew how upset I was and never uttered a harsh word to me. When we got home, even more amazing, his uncle would not even let us pay him back.

Kitty, I have called back already three times to see if there might be any cancellations. The more I think about it though I suppose the 6:45 show may not be so bad. We will have more time after the CP to find our way to our spot for Illuminations. My main concern is eating at 3:45. Our bodies won't know if they are getting lunch or dinner! I can just hear the masses whining about being hungry. I guess we can always eat breakfast and snack if we just can't make it that long. Oh well, I guess we will manage because we seldom eat on a regular schedule when we are on vacation anyway. Most of the time we eat dinner after we get in from the park.... 9:30 or 10.
Garden Grill is next to Soarin...from WDW website... "The Garden Grill Restaurant is a rotating restaurant with Character Dining featuring Chip 'n' Dale in the Future World area. Generous all-you-care-to-eat, family-style dinners include such delicious favorites as grilled steak, roast turkey, and sustainable fish of the day." I thought it would be a great choice for atmosphere, it had food on the menu that my family would like AND I can get in a character meal at the same time as we are dining for the CP package. So how can I go wrong?
Great tip on the numbers on the back of the CRT photos! I will keep that in mind just in case I talk myself into going. Today my temptation came while we were having a tea party with with my DD. I again started pondering how much she would enjoy the Princess Tea Party. Thankfully the guys took over the tea party and it turned crazy which snapped me out of my temporary insanity. But still.... she would love to see Sleeping Beauty.... Darn it! Why does it have to be $250? I have to agree that buffet character meals are far from relaxing.
Yeah, I know Goldens are not totally short haired but is it possible that they might have just a little less than a long haired shepherd? She has a double coat since she has the undercoat layer. Do they?
Yay for conquering the ipod!
vikingkitty.jpg

I have been waking up extra early too as of late. I guess my body is working with me to get up early for making ADRs. I just hope when I get them all done I will settle back down and be able to sleep between now and out trip. I hope you manage to get some rest too.

Good grief D&D! Your relationship with you sis sounds even worse than mine! My sister and I just don't talk but she has never done anything remotely similar to that. I bet your poor mom was totally shocked.
You are right 40 is NOT old. Folks that age are still just babies!
Sorry, I don't know about RFC and the dining plan.

Bopsmom, good for your mom! Set those SILs straight!

whgrn, yay for getting the kids back to school and good luck with the job hunting.

Hi Pikester, JOCAmom and anyone else out there!

I was up bright and early this morning making my ADR of the day. Started online but wasn't satisfied so ended up calling and getting the sweetest customer service girl yet. Got my ressies for Sci-Fi for shake and dessert and Prime Time for lunch. The reservation system said at PT we might have to be seated at 2 tables. Have any of you ever seen that before? Anyway, the girl said that if we just arrived early that they should be able to accommodate us at one table so I guess that is what we will do. Surely if we are willing to wait as long as it takes they will manage to squeeze us in. It may be a mute point anyway. At this point I am booking for 5 of us but if DS's friend doesn't make it this day it may not even matter. Just something else to worry about! I've got just about have of my ADRs made now. :woohoo:

Good morning marie!

We ate at the Garden Grill back in 2006. All but my DH enjoyed the food. There were 6 of us on that trip so I say it's a :thumbsup2. If you can remember ask if they have a table on the first tier of the restaurant. You will be able to see the scenery better, the scenery being from the Living with the Land ride.

I know D&D asked about the RFC but since you mentioned it again here I will answer it. As far as I know the RFC is not on the Dining Plan.

Last year I had 6 people for an ADR at Le Cellier but had to get 2 tables of 3 when I called. They asked how many when I arrived and I told them 6. We were seated together so it shouldn't be a problem.

I have to go back and read everything but need to post Racer's guesses. I knew you all would want her 2 cents worth too! I'm keeping her informed! She sure misses those who can't talk to her otherwise...you know I'm faceless--I mean not on facebook! ;)

Good afternoon ladies! How is everyone today? How was your holiday weekend? Is everyone back to school?

Listening to some of the school policies some of you have, I am scared to have my own kids going to school! What do you mean you can't go to your locker before lunch? Isn't that what the locker is for? And why are you making kids carry everything anyway? They're growing! You can't lug them down with all their books and stuff coz they can't go to their locker????

good luck on the application Wendy!

Baby Walter is just so yummy I can't stand it.

I will definitely look for the Garden Grill when we go in a few days.

Marie, I would so love to do the tea party also. But the price! I know you get a doll and all that, but I got the same doll (without the outfit) at the outlets for $20. You can see Sleeping Beauty in France. I would suggest you and your DD getting some of that yummy French pastries from the Boulangerie there, getting a spot near the fountain and having your own little princess picnic. They have AMAZING pastries there.

I'm mostly worried about my sleeping habit coz don't we Fall Back sometime soon? Won't that mean I'm getting up at quarter to five?! I will have none of that!

have a great day everyone!

Nephew just called. Just got out of grand jury something. Went well, they're going for the trial. Should start sometime in December. Didn't have to face the crazy roommate. Very good.

Hi Little Walter...great name for a guy who lives in a castle! :cool1: He is so adorable. Thanks for the pics. Give him an extra hug from me. I think Pikester was closest for the weight. Wendy and Marie got the inches. I don't think any of us mind him showing up earlier than our guesses. As long as he's healthy, he can have his birthday any time!

Can I play too? I am still pretty new, but I can kill a thread just by reading it! :rotfl:

Glad to have you on board. But posting here does not guarantee you will stop killing threads. In a way, it's an honor to kill threads...you are saving someone else from killing it!

Hi again. Thanks for the welcome. I don't think I've "killed" any threads on the Disboards yet. Is it still ok if I post here even if I don't meet the requirements?

Glad to have you on board too! If you are really interested in killing a thread, maybe we could make that happen. :rotfl: But you don't really need to do that to post here. We're just a bunch of friendly people who chat and chat about just about anything. Join in...

On occasion, but I probably ask a question that has been asked about 100 times before...especially about ADRs... ;)

Some DISers don't like that but I say...so what? I tend to forget anyways! Sometimes I know somewhere I've seen something but can't find it again when I need the answer. Does anyone really think they have asked a question that has never been asked before? As you can see...we discuss anything anytime...even several times!

I made my second ADR online this morning! Rainforest Cafe, 6:15 on Dec. 3. I'm going to have to brave the phone line in the morning to try to get a Candlelight Package. Ya'll wish me luck!

My friend was told that Germany was full for the CP and then called back and got one! She was a little upset with the whole process. She's not used to getting the run around. We finally got in for lunch on Dec 3.

Ok...my ADRs are finally done! We are not staying on-site so I had to do them every morning for a week...I am exhausted, but please with the results.

So here is our schedule...

Sunday, 11/29
Arrive in Orlando
6:30 - Dinner at T-Rex Cafe in Downtown Disney

Monday, 11/30 - Magic Kingdom
10:20 - Breakfast at Cinderellas Royal Table

Tuesday, 12/1 - Hollywood Studios
7:45 - Breakfast at Chef Mickeys
1:10 - Lunch at Mama Melrose (My Dad LOVES Italian)

Wednesday, 12/2 - Epcot
8:20 - Breakfast at Cape May Cafe

Thursday, 12/3 - Downtown Disney then Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party
Lunch at Raglan Road Irish Pub
5:30 - Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for Lily's Princess Makeover
5:30 - Pirates League for Ethan's Pirate Makeover
Christmas Party & Parade

Friday, 12/4 - Animal Kingdom (or Hollywood Studios - Ethan's choice)

Saturday, 12/5 - Magic Kingdom
9:20 - Breakfast at Crystal Palace

What do you think???

I think you are going to have a terrific time! I'm going to be in Orlando Dec 2-16. The only day I know we will be in a park is EPCOT on the 3rd. I stay with friends and we go to the parks when he's off. He works for Disney so I can get in free. So I'll probably get to go 3 days. We don't eat at the places you have to have ressies except for the CP. We did eat at the one in England once. I did eat at the T-Rex in DD. That was really cool. It's like the Rainforest. We usually go to see the decorations in the hotels too.

Hey...watch it on the 40 cracks!!!!! Forty is NOT OLD!!!!!!!!!
Welcome back. We'll let the thread killer thing slide - for now. But you will be required to kill at least 1 thread during the hazing process. ;):rotfl2:

I'm beginning to realize 60 isn't old either...at least that's what I told myself all day the day I turned 59! :rotfl:
I thought you had to kill 1 thread a month! :rotfl:

Okay...I have a small rant to get off my chest.
What did I do to belong to a family like this???:sad2:

My point of view---What did they do to deserve a wonderful, caring person like YOU?

I haven't been sleeping well lately. Sounds strange I know, but I like to close my eyes at 11:23 every night. I'm usually up by 6:33. (internal clock, I've never used an alarm). Lately, though, my clock has me getting up at 5:49. I need that extra half hour! I just can't go back to sleep, so I may as well get up and do stuff. Traditionally, I'm not a great morning person, but maybe I've turned a corner and am becoming one?

Let's have a good day everyone! Still scouting better rental car rates, coz that's all I really have left to play with for my trip!

Some say that we need less sleep when we get older? :lmao:??

I'm baaack!!
Hi to POCAmom and TMcDwyer
Trip was great. I'll be back with more details later. Spent most of Sunday in planes and airports. Had a 1:10 am flight from Fairbanks. We had been up since 6 am on Saturday. When we arrived in Seattle our connecting plane, to Salt Lake City, had mechanical trouble. Those of us with another flight to catch would miss our flights. So Delta got us on American to Dallas then on to El Paso. We only arrived 2.5 hours later than originally planned. Nothing like not sleeping for 36 hours or so to put us in a happy mood. When I called my DD to let her know about the changes She said "I have good news and bad news". :scared1: Good news.. our missing cat showed up and DD may have another part time job. Bad news..our well lost pressure again and the car is acting up. :headache: Luckily the well just had ants in the switch so when we killed them and cleared the switch, we had water.:) Looks like the car problem has been fixed by cleaning the battery connection, we'll see. :rolleyes1
Geez, I almost forgot to say Congratulations to LITC!

Welcome back DL55! Wow, sounded like you had quite an adventure getting home, but at least they accomodated you. And super congrats on the bad news not being so bad and missing cat coming home!

Ok, so I'll ask this here, so my thread on the disabilities board went unloved and completely ignored. I didn't kill the thread, it never was alive! :lmao: So, last year, we prepaid for the wheelchair, it ends up being $8/day instead of $10 if you do it that way. We have one pre-paid coupon left (went unused, I don't remember how that happened). You think its still valid for this trip? BF is not planning on getting a chair, but we're there for 10 days and he may need it. What y'all think? The receipt is still attached, showing that I did pay for it, and the other coupons are stamped with the date as used.

Here's my complaint of the day...I collect the 50 states quarters. I have them in a lovely map with spaces to put the quarters on a map of the US. Its filled and lovely. Now they come out with quarters for Puerto Rico, Guam and American Samoa and I have no place to put them! Do I just glue them on haphazardly? Make Guam and Am.Sam a part of the Gulf of Mexico?

The Presidential quarters are darned hard to find. I never got past Jefferson. My bank doesn't carry them anymore. Sorry for the Presidents. They get no love.

And M&N...I am not getting older...I am blossoming!

Good afternoon TKers!

Well, I'm home today with DS8. He had a tube put in his right ear about 8AM so no school for him today. The poor thing got really nervous and started to cry right before they wheeled him in to same day surgery. That made me tear up! :sad1: He has done this many times before and has been fine. Not sure what had him so upset this time. I tried to ask him but he said he didn't know. It was either that or he couldn't find the words to explain. Whatever was going on he is fine and there are no problems. At this very moment he is playing with all his little cars and trucks at the dining room table.

TMcDwyer: I will be at WDW November 29th(arriving :woohoo:) through December 6th (departing :sad1:). I was hoping to meet up with marie while she is there but our schedules are not syncing up the way we hoped.

whgrn: It always amazes me how little time some schools build into the days schedule for locker time. I mean the kids don't need alot but it would be nice for the kid to not have to lug everything around for the day. I heard complaints from othe parents whose kids carry all their books around in a backpack because they don't have time to go to their lockers between classes. Now that's just not OK!

Bopsmom: Let's see, ADRs....This year we are trying the Quick Service Dining plan. DH and the kids want to spend less time dining and more time riding. We are paying OOP for the Hoop-Dee-Doo Cat 1 as all of us loved it when we saw it during our 2006 trip. I asked DS11 if he could choose any place to eat what would it be and that was what he wanted to do. I also wanted to do one character meal so we chose Breakfast with Donald at the Tusker House in AK. We hopefully will be there early enough so that we can get some pics of AK before it opens to everyone else. Not sure how far the CMs will let us stray but I guess we'll see. That meal will also be OOP. If you are looking for a great CS meal try Wolfgang Puck Express. AWESOME food!:thumbsup2

TS:
Sci-Fi: Had a cool atmosphere but DH was not impressed with the food. Me, DS11, DS8, my Mom and Dad all thought it was very tasty.

Whispering Canyon Cafe: I thought the food was great. So did the kids, Mom and Dad. DH, thought OK. I enjoyed the atmosphere and loved the Christmas Decorations. Does anyone need ketchup?

CS:
Pizzafari: I love pizza and we all thought it was great here. DH actually had a sandwich that he really liked.

We are hoping to try Flametree this time around and I can't wait. I am going to have DH make sure he puts this on our touring plans because I don't want to miss it!

Did anyone see the thread where the woman posted about her DS2 who got bit 3 times by a water moccasin at the Caribbean Beach Resort? Totally FREAKED ME OUT!!!

Pikester...big hugs to DS for being so brave earlier today. I hope he's feeling much better and is enjoying his day with his Mommy.

I'll have to try to go to Wolfgang Express this trip. Have heard really good things about it...where's it located? Maybe we can go there after La Nouba!

Bless his heart. I love my BF. I sent him to the Disney store to try to pick up some Halloween trick or treat bags. They were sold out but the nice CM told him to go to some party store that sells them. He just called and asked "Mickey or Tinkerbell?". He bought me two Mickeys!

Did I tell you guys that this will be my first trick or treat experience? I went to Catholic school, and we celebrated saints instead of Halloween for All Souls Day. (I got dressed up as St. Lucy--with blackened eyes and all) I'm nervous about doing it and so excited! BF even promised me that I get first pick of the candy...but we have polar candy preferences anyway, so that's not a huge sacrifice for him. So what do I do? Just put out my bag and they put candy in it? Do I really have to say "trick or treat!"?

 for BF!

Of course you have to say Trick or Treat! If they don't give you the treat then you have to pants them. :rotfl:Just kidding!

Wolfgang Puck Express is located in the Marketplace of DTD. If you drive there it's near Lots A & B. It's in the same area as Earl of Sandwich, Dinsey Pin Traders and Wonderful World of Memories. From the map I am looking at it is as far away as it can be from Cirque du Soleil.
