Well, just got the first estimate for replacing our heat/A/C and redoing some duct work....almost $12,000. I hope the other two are less. :scared1:

Any one into March Madness? We are a bit excited...all the local universities made it. They are UNM, UTEP and NMSU (this is the one we root for most of the time even if they have the worst football team). Doubt any except UNM will win their first game.

Ack! DL55! My condolences to your wallet...I hope that the other estimates are far far less! How you doing? Are you breathing? I'm freaking out for you!

DL55: Ouch! Doesn't your heart just sink when you hear that. I remember when it was time for us to put a new roof on our house. We needed it stripped, new shingles and chimney work. A pretty big job. DH called a bunch of different places just to get someone to come and give us an estimate. We had one guy show and he wanted $38,000! :scared1: My Uncle is a roofer but had said once that he didn't like working for family. My Dad asked him if he would come take a look and then let us know if this guy was trying to screw us. He wanted to know why we hadn't asked him to do it? So, we had him do it (an AWESOME job too!) for $17,000.

Well, I took Tyler to the Drs and he has Strep. Yay.

Oh no, poor Tyler. Just try to keep everyone else from getting sick too. Get stuff for the owies. Popsicles!

I've heard that you can have two layers of shingles before you have to strip it down to the basics. I'm hoping for ten more years on the roof. then just put on another layer. (The next owners can deal with next roofing job. ;))
Oh no, strep. Hope no one else gets it.

Magikitty I'm still breathing. DH had a lump sum payment of unused vacation days. It almost covers the repair costs. But I wanted to use that for travel. :sad2: I figure if I cut down by $500 a month I'll have replaced that in 2 years. Unfortunately DH still wants to eat out too much. <sigh>

The joys of home ownership! I'm not sure how old the roof is...I've lived here 10 years...also the furnace and ac are getting old but the guy last year assured me they had a few more years. I can see the savings disappear...insert money with wings, flying away...

Sorry about the strep...it seems to be going around here too. That's better than

Went to Hershey Outlets to get out today. They had some neat Hershey paper and stickers at the scrapbook store---anyone scrap?

That's the Polish Victory Lap!!!(They do everything a**backwards) :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
HEY, HEY...watch it with the Polish talk!!!

:eek:OMG...$12K for some AC/furnace and ducts???? Yikes!!!

My DH gets into March Madness. He makes picks for fun with a group of friends and family. I did that one year and I picked winners by the mascots they have. Worked pretty well seeing as I picked the school that went all the way. Gotta love those little Orangemen:cutie:

Whgrn - Thanks for your card. That was so sweet of you.

All of my Tker friends have been such a great support and the best buds anyone could ask for. :grouphug:

Ah, D&D...you break my heart. You chose the Orangemen? Bah! I went to college about an hour away and had an ex who went there. I also lived (unhappily) in Syracuse for a year. I normally love Upstate, I love Albany, Rochester, and Buffalo. But Syracuse and I rub each other the wrong way.

Oh, and I would never pick St. Johns, but I think that's a NY thing.

Aside from that, I love the idea of picking tourney by Mascots. I would have to be a Hoya fan. I just love the bulldog.

M&N...I attempt to scrapbook. But I'd also have to take pictures to be any good at it. I love technology and having a pink camera was a must, but I always forget to take pictures! Arrgh!

Sorry Kitty. They were just so darn cute. :cutie:
Oh, and one year (many moons ago) I picked Gonzaga just because I liked the way their name sounded.

I'm into March madness. I'm an ACC fan. My fav team is Duke (Blue Devil) but also like UNC (TarHeel). Not great mascotts I guess...

Hey ladies! I hope everyone has been A-Okay! I've been keeping up a little on Facebook but have been trying to cut back how much time I spend on the computer so have been lacking at making it over here on the Dis. Don't expect it to get better anytime soon. Fixin to start up on a new curriculum with my DD which is probably going to take even more of my time. Anyway, thought I would drop in and say Hi! and ask a couple of questions.

Opinions please....

Haircolor.... what's your favorite brand? I've been using Loreal but their idea of what covers gray best and how it works on my hair are two different things. I know I could very well be the only one around here covering up gray but if anyone has a great recommendation I would love to hear it.

Airfare.... who's your favorite? We usually fly American but thought I might compare to see if I could save a few bucks just in case we can manage to pull off a trip to DL in November. Is there anyone who does not charge for baggage? We prefer to stick with non-stop and assigned seats. Any suggestions?

Evening! Today was so beautiful and it's suppose to be like this for the rest of the week. I'm so happy. :goodvibes

D&D, are you Polish? Whoa boy, so is DH. This should make our trip very interesting. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I don't watch college basketball. I never could get into it.

DL55, let me just get down on my knees and pray we never have to replace our heater.

Marie, I usually use Nice and Easy on my hair. Unless I'm dyeing it some funky color then I use Splat. But I guess you weren't looking for that type of answer. :lmao::lmao: As for airlines, Southwest does not charge baggage fees and they are usually pretty cheap.

Hey Marie-Sorry not much help here. I get my hair colored at JCP. She highlights in a light bro with foil and then lowlights the hair not in the foil a darker brown. That's how she hides the gray. I go from Harrisburg to Orlando on Air Tran but they charge 25 for bag and 6 to pre pick your seat! They have a cheap flight for me though and it's nonstop.

Splat---:confused3 Are you all coloring your hair this year for the meet?

I am and so are the 2 youngest ones. I had a poll on facebook and I think the majority was Vampire Red for me. Haven't decided on the color for the kids yet.

I like Garnier fructis. I don't cover grey, I just go shades lighter. I find its not as stinky, I usually have a coupon for it and it comes out nice and shiny.

I know JetBlue doesn't charge either for luggage. Delta and USAirways do.

I was reading this thread on the budget board on those winning sweepstakes. Now I'm depressed. All these people talking about winning money, trips, cars, etc. I wanna win sonething!!
