Interesting to hear that MK, when we saw the competition, I thought Garces seemed very arrogant and cocky. Glad to know he's nice in person!

I am just bone tired tonite. Think I'll turn in early, as soon as the kids go to bed. Or maybe not. Gotta plan my menu for tomorrow.

I wasn't able to watch any of the shows...I hope they run them again. He spoke about a fusion restaurant he was opening--Peruvian-Chinese, which I thought was really odd. So I asked him about it and he said that while travelling in Peru, Chinese restaurants that use the local produce are really fantastic and he wanted to bring that vibrancy to the states. Anyway, his lecture was scheduled to last 20 minutes, and he easily stayed another 20 just talking to the audience and taking their questions.

Isn't your show "worst cook" on tonight? Just rest in the recliner and enjoy!

The show Big Love comes back tonight. They changed the theme song from the Beach Boys "God only knows" to something else not nearly as wonderful. Upset already.

LITC I am SOOOOO sorry about your Dad. What a shock that must be for all of you. It's so hard to see our parents' health failing. Y'all are in my prayers.

I cannot believe how big Walter is! My kids were barely bigger than that when I got them! DD was 19 pounds and 28 inches at 2 YEARS old! DS was 18 pounds and 27 inches at 18 months. So he is WAY ahead of them!

JO, sorry you've been under the weather. It sounds like what DD had right before Christmas, only lasted a day or so, but she was sick!

Well, I have my own sad news (which some of you have seen on FB already). I took the doggie to the eye doctor today and he confirmed that he is nearly blind. He believes he has SARDS (Sudden Aquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome), and that he will be completely blind by the end of the weekend. This apparently happens over just a few days, and there is no treatment and no cure. It is not reversible. The weird thing is, many people whose dogs get this report that in the months before the blindness, the dogs are eating and drinking more, and gaining weight. This is EXACTLY what happened with Duke--he's gained almost 5 pounds since September, on his previously 12.8 pound frame!

So we are going on Wednesday for a test to confirm the diagnosis. Meanwhile, he is adapting fairly well to his new situation, but sticking VERY close to me. I guess I make him feel secure? I think once he settles in and gets used to it, we will get another dog to keep him company and sort of be his "guide dog".

When I told the kids DS just cried. He's really taking it hard. I would have expected that from DD instead, but she's handling it much better. When I told my Dad, he asked "what will you do, put him to sleep?" I said "WHAT?!?! No way!" He just totally doesn't get it. So NOT a dog person.

Well, off to herd the kids into bed and get myself ready too.

Thanks very much Wendy, and i am really really sorry to hear about your doggie. We love ours that much also and would do anything we could for her.

I, too, can't believe how cold it has been everywhere. It's 16 here right now. I don't even want to leave the house at all. Thank goodness that DD13 is old enough to babysit for a little when DH and I have to run out. I know that the little ones would be complaining the whole time if we took them out somewhere.

MK, I'm embarrassed to say thing but I think I only have 6 pairs of shoes. 3 pairs of sneaker, 1 pair of dressy sandals, 1 pair of small heels and a pair of croc sandals. Somehow I am missing the shoe gene. :rotfl:

Wendy, you do what you feel is right in your heart. We have a dog even though I am not a dog person. But if something was wrong with her, I would do everything possible for her. My kids love her and that is enough for me to make sure she gets the best possible care she can.

spammypie, thank you for your words of experience for Wendy. I hope you decide to stick around. :goodvibes

Jo--I am totally missing the shoe gene also. If I could wear my same pair of crocs (which they stopped making my style I buy--not happy about that) I would wear them everyday.

Dont have much time, didn't get to completely catch up, but wanted to post those few things. Hope to have time to talk soon!

Good morning. I have been MIA for a while. Trying to get back in the swing of things. I have good news and not so good news. At work I was finally put on 8hrs. however not how I wanted it to be. I know how sad it can be when your pets aren't doing very good. My DMIL's dog got hit by a car this weekend. I told DH after these cats are gone NO MORE PETS! It is so hard when you lose them.

I see that everyone is back to their normal schedules.

Wendy~ How fun it will be planning DD party.:woohoo:

LITC~ I know how hard it can be. Hang in there  sending prayers for your dad and your family.

Hi to the rest.:grouphug:

Good Morning...
Quiet sunny morning today. Looking forward to Wed. when temps might get to 40. Woo hoo!!!! Major snow melting!!! And car washing. For now though, its only about 15F.

Imelda & Pikester - Glad to hear your Hershey planning is going well. Gettysburg is one place we missed last year. :sad1: Maybe next trip.

Whgrn- :cheer2: to planning DD's 16th party. :hug:s for you and Duke. Poor doggie. Breaks my heart to hear his story.

Sukie - Sorry to hear about DMIL's dog. How awful!!!
NIce to have you check in!!!!

Marie - You have every right to remind DS to be careful - REALLY CAREFUL when he's around guns. That is such a horrible story about your friend's son. What they must be going through. :sad1: Just glad no one was killed.
Loved the pics of your doggies reading and relaxing.:thumbsup2

MagiKitty I thought of you when I watched Extreme Makeover HE. :goodvibes

I know my DH would be interested in Gettysburg. He said we could go if I found interesting places to visit on the way to PA. :)

My older kitty is going to the vet today. She's a little terror so I'm withholding food and water in case she has to be sedated. This means everyone (cats and dog) has to suffer. If she needs pills then everyone suffers. :headache:

Temps are closer to normal, still have some snow though.

Hey---Doesn't sound like we have any frozen TKers yet! Spring is coming...

OK DL55---The challenge is on. What kinds of places do we need to find to get you to Hershey and Gettysburg? We can do this!

Wendy---How can they grow up overnight? Your little tomboy? That is so cool! Hope you can learn more about the doggie so you can get him some help. It must be so scarey for him...in the dark. I know you are giving him extra TLC!

Marie---Such cute pics. I would be a little concerned about the cat knowing Jiu Jitsu now though. :rotfl: that pic should be sent somewhere that they have contests for captions.

Kitty---I did not realize you had divorced David...so sorry...but there are other fish in the sea! ;)

Hey Sukie---Get back in the swing here girl! Wasn't too worried about you since we can ask Pikester.

Hope JO and any other sickies are better.

Pikester and MK, I've always wanted to go to Gettysburg, so hopefully we can join y'all for that part. And the most likely day for us to be able to go to HersheyPark is Thursday. If school goes later than that, we'll just be out of luck, but I'm hoping for no more snow days!

It would seem that Duke is now totally blind. He can't seem to figure out what to do with his toys when I give him one, and he's walked right into the sliding glass door when I went to let him out. Plus DS said he couldn't find his doggie door to come back inside. :sad2: Poor baby. It just breaks my heart to see him like this.

Well, apparently I am now planning a Sweet 16 party. DD has announced that yes, she DOES want a party, having had such an awesome time at the one we went to last night. I was standing there watching her dance and hang out with her friends, and I barely recognized the beautiful young woman she has become! I'll have to post some pictures later. She really liked the DJ, so we will try to hire him. NO clues on locations, but she's already figured out who she wants to light her candles, and is thinking of the songs to play for each one. I never in a million years thought I'd see the day she WANTED a dress-up party, but she does. She even told me she wants a long dress! WOW! I think she really enjoyed the reaction she got from all her friends and teachers and coaches when they saw her dressed up last night. So, at least this gives me something GOOD to think about in the midst of all our crises!

Tomorrow we have HS orientation for her. Not sure which one of us is more excited! We will have a tour of the high school, sit in on the class (and get to see her friends again!), and have a meeting to discuss plans for next year. I cannot believe my baby girl is getting ready for high school!!

So sorry about your puppy doggie. That is so sad.
Very exciting stuff going on for your DD! Must feel awesome!!

No, what horrible news, I hope your dmil's family is doing ok.
And thanks for the prayers!

It's snowing...well, some flurries anyway. Glad it's dark and I can't see the stuff!

Booked my hotel for the Hershey trip. :woohoo: The MainStay Suites in Grantsville. One thing checked off my to do list.

Hey, I can pool hop to Pikesters pool...only is it considered pool hopping if I don't have a pool at my house? :confused3

Well, I guess I'll just kill this thread for the night...

This week is the PA Farm Show in Harrisburg. I love to go but not going this year. It's a bummer when your friends have to work!

Going to check on the snow...probably nothing. I only saw a few flakes earlier...Keep warm everyone!

You can only pool hop if you bring a refillable mug from Hershey Park. :rolleyes1

I booked us for the same hotel as Pikester. We'll be getting in on the 22nd.

DL55, what kind of interesting things is DH talking about? I'm up for the challenge. And he doesn't have to know you got a little help from your friends. :thumbsup2

Couldn't post this on FB...maybe too long? Just had to share:

Four Friends spend weeks planning the perfect girls getaway trip - shopping, massages, facials.

Two days before the group is to leave Mary's husband puts his foot down and tells her she isn't going.

Mary's friends are very upset that she can't go, but what can they do.

Two days later the three get to the hotel only to find Mary sitting in the bar drinking a glass of wine.

"Wow, how long you been here and how did you talk your husband into letting you go?"

"Well, I've been here since last night............. Yesterday evening I was sitting on the couch and my husband came up behind me and put his hands over my eyes and said 'Guess who'?"

I pulled his hands off to find all he was wearing was his birthday suit. He took my hand and lead me to our bedroom. The room was scented with perfume, had two dozen candles and rose pedals all over............On the bed, he had handcuffs and ropes! He told me to tie and cuff him to the bed, so I did. And then he said, "Now, you can do whatever you want."

So here I am.

FYI JO---you can use last year's refillable mug at HP but it costs more to refill! They just posted that last year...must have read the DIS!
