Pikester - Don't know if I thanked you yet for finding all our old threads. It was so much fun to look back and read it and see who joined when. :thumbsup2 You da woman!!!!!

Saw this posted somewhere else tonight and it just seemed very fitting.....

You and I can share the silence
Finding comfort together
The way old friends do
And after fights and words of violence
We make up with each other
The way old friends do
Times of joy and times of sorrow
We will always see it through
Oh I don't care what comes tomorrow
We can face it together
The way old friends do
Very nice poem JO!!!

Happy good first morning of 2010!
Totally missed Dick Clark last night...did anyone see him?

Having fun working in the round foods. Had a roll this morning and an orange. Lunch is going to be more of a challenge.
I saw him last night. Looked good except a little slow in actions and speech. Reminded me so much of my Dad and Grandfather so it was kinda bitter-sweet to see him hosting again.

I agree Ryan has to GO as a host. He's just EVERYWHERE like Regis is. Don't like either one. :sad2:

I am working on eating the round things today - hamburger for lunch, bun, ritz crackers, Kisses (the bottom is round), M&Ms, and for supper we are having pizza with round pepperoni.

Wouldn't let anyone in family wear white and tried to find red for all. DH was looking at me like I was nuts. Told him we had to do it for our finances. I took down some of the Christmas decor and put up my January snowmen but I don't consider that work - just fun decorating.

oooooh, Hershey kisses have round bottoms! I hadn't thought of that! The only round food in my house is M&Ms and clementines. Please tell me it doesn't have to be 12 DIFFERENT round foods--if that's the case then I am toast!

Now I'm gonna have to go search my cabinets...

Whgrn- I hope it doesn't have to be 12 different rounds cuz I just remembered I had a bowl of Cheerios for breakfast this morning. I'm set!!!!

Have to share my big deals of the new year. Went shopping at Target today and found...
Christmas white dishes w/ gold trim - place setting for 12 = $3.29
Bra and panties set for $5.00

Maybe this wearing RED stuff is paying off!!!! :cool1:
Hey... and TARGET is RED!!!

I'm here, still disgruntled by the lack of New Year's programming so far. Can't decide if I want to be disgusted by the appalling behavior of Jersey Shore or continue being confused by the movie Revolutionary Road.

The only fruity drink I have is either water with lemon or orange soda.

Kitty-- I saw that mmovie, I think maybe when I was pregnant. I was so mad. It sucked. Not to mention I barely undeerstood it. Except that they both had some serious issues.

I just sent a email to M&N welcoming her to our Tker New Year.

Red is for good luck tomorrow, right? I just might have to dig out my red Kyle Busch sweatshirt for tomorrow. (sorry M&N, I had to get his name in there somewhere before the year ends :lmao:)

Cute outfits??? I gave those up after the 4th child.

UH-OH I might be in major trouble. I haven't tried a single "cute" thing since before Walter was born......

Either today or tomorrow, I'll be doing both. Also, don't forget the "no cleaning or washing"! That's the one I particularly like....:rotfl:

My Dh did some dishes, but he is wearing red. Hopefully the red wins out.

You guys are too fast! By the time I type, you are on another subject.

Just noticed I finally have 1500 posts.

Congrats on the post milestone!!

Been a very odd day. Walter has been on the cranky side of things since sometime yesterday. We even took a drive last night to get him to sleep. He has been fairly cranky all day so far. Not sure if something is bothering him, so I gave him some tylenol. He is chewing his hands lots and drooling--yes it is possible my 3 month very well may be cutting a tooth!! Lord help me this child seems to want to do everything early!

I am majorly cranky right now. Just went to work on my trip report and guess what, it's gone! I emailed a moderator to move it from the pre-trip page to the trip report page and now it's gone!

I hope it shows up because all my hard work will be for nothing!

Pikester, I certainly hope your TR shows back up! That would really reek after all that work. Certainly does not instill confidence in me to add to my PTR and then request it be moved. I may just start a new thread and link to the PTR from there. At the rate I am going it will probably give yours time to show back up! I am still loading pictures. I uploaded on Shutterfly so I could have an archive cd made but they do not provide links so I am in the process of uploading to Webshots now. Hopefully, I will get some time this afternoon to work on it more. I do have a page started. I just need to insert a few photos and post it.

This morning we are off to see the grandson in his first playday. Of course, the very first thing out of DD's mouth was that she wanted to ride a horse. I had to explain to her that the day was about her nephew and that just because he was doing it did not mean she was going to start riding horses now. At our house she is going to wait until she is several years older, can play a big part in taking care of the horse and listen without arguing so much. Thanks to that last part she may be an old maid before she ever gets a horse! :rotfl:

Made it back from the playday early due to DH having a near meltdown cause he wanted to leave early to go flying,
angry-smiley-8020.gif
something he failed to mention to the rest of us. Left before we even got to watch DstepD do her events. Got home and now he is not even going flying because no one will go with him. UGGH!!! Anyway, we did get to watch DGS ride. He was pretty cute and quite proud of himself. DD participated in a stick horse race and came in 2nd.
I am now further convinced that DD will not be getting a real horse anytime soon. There was a poor little boy, probably about 7, whose horse took off running the entire length of the arena while the poor child was screaming in terror. The frigin horse would not stop so the grandpa finally ran out and had the boy try to leap off into his arms. Poor kid missed and ended up landing flat on his belly but at least he got off before the horse ran him into a fence or something. I am sure he got the breath knocked out of him but I don't think he was hurt. Hard to say, he was still crying 15 minutes later. I think it just scared the crap out of him. I cannot imagine for the life of me why any parent would allow their child on a horse that apparently was not kid gentle. DstepD said the same horse had bucked an adult off just recently. :sad2:

Good evening ladies. Boy is it cold and windy outside! Brr!

Marie, sounds like you had quite the afternoon! Did DH ever get less cranky? You know you DD best and if you feel that taking care of a horse is not in the cards now, then you're making the best decision overall. That poor little boy too! My sister was thrown from a horse when she was younger and has never gotten on a horse since. She's even boycotted carousels! :rotfl:

Has anyone's kids read Percy Jackson and the Olympians? I just got the first three volumes. Apparently they're making a movie of it this year. I also got the latest Anne Rice. The book is about angels. I've never read her before, but I saw a very interesting interview with her and apparently she's found her Catholicism again and is writing about it. She has a few books about the early life of Jesus that I may look into if I like this book.

And yes, if you ate 12 round anythings it counted!

Scary, but I was inspired to work on my closet. Went to Home Depot and everything. Got the drill, saw and bit set out and went to town. There was a terrible moment when I had to use the washroom but couldn't get out! Have a huge box of clothes for donation and am rediscovering some lovely sweaters. Its far from over, but I'm taking a coffee break at the moment.

:woohoo:Go Kitty! :woohoo: Go Kitty!:woohoo: Go Kitty!:woohoo:

I'm impressed. I haven't done a darn thing all day except take a shower and play around online.

Marie, sorry your DH was being a jerk. Hope his mood has improved. MEN!!!:confused3

It is raw, cold and windy here. We are supposed to get gusts up to 50mph overnight!:scared1: I haven't left my house in 2 days. Guess I'll have to bundle up tight to go to church tomorrow... :cold:

Weather is terrible here too. None of the white stuff from the sky but bitterly cold and windy. We had to do grocery shopping today but we left DD13 home to babysit the younger 2. We could just get it done so much quicker without dragging them all out with us.

Way to MK!!!! The only thing other thing I managed to do today was 2 sink fulls of dishes. Tomorrow I think I'm going to go through the girls clothes. They seem to be growing like weeds right now. I swear pants they were just wearing 2 months ago now look like they are expected a flood.

Marie, scary about that little boy. And boo to DH being a poopyhead today.

Pikester, I'd be fuming if I had done all that work on a TR and it just disappeared. I hope they can figure it out for you.

Hello everyone! Took a break from the internet..just to see if I could. ;)
Rose Bowl is not the championship game. Rose Bowl is always played on New Years Day.
We were busy yesterday. Took 3 truck loads of yard waste to the dump. Still have 2 more to go plus need to trim the "lower 40" (the rest of the yard not enclosed by our closest fence). All Christmas decorations have been put up also. DH is now playing golf and already confused as to which day of the week it is. :lmao:
Yesterday we had great weather..sunny and temp at 54. Supposed to be 50 today but may have more cold mid week.

DL55 those temperatures sound heavenly! It's about 20 here, and very very windy, so the wind chill is below 10. I am so glad I don't have to go anywhere today until time for DD's swim practice. And I am so glad it's inside, in a warm room!

I went through DS's closet the other day and was amazed at how much he's outgrown. I have a huge trash bag full of too-small clothes to pass along to my friend who has younger boys. DD has stopped growing awhile now, so the only things I get rid of there are things she no longer likes, or things she's stained or worn out.

Keep warm everyone, and don't blow away!:lmao:

Went to church this afternoon and then met my DF and her DD again for lunch at my sister's restaurant. Had a good visit and some great food. I think I must have missed out on the cooking gene that she inherited. She makes practically everything from scratch.... including the hamburger buns. Don't think we can keep this up every week cause it could get kinda expensive not to mention that I would end up being the size of a barn! Here's a photo of her place. Very country. Good old fashioned home cooking.

When we looked up the hill from the parking lot this is what we saw..... gotta ask her about this?????

Marie - Love that pic of the toilet in the field. :rotfl2: And the best food can always be found at those small, out-of-the-way restaurants! :thumbsup2

Kitty- Congrats on taking on THE CLOSET!!! Good luck my friend!

Weather here is very cold too. Still have windchills around -20 at night but today we did get up to 15. But its back to cold tonight. I am sitting here w/ my Snuggie on, 2 pairs of socks and fleece just trying to stay warm.

Still haven't taken down the tree. I just don't feel like taking on that project right now. The rest of the decorations are done and put away.

Kids go back to school tomorrow!!!:woohoo: And, I don't go back to work until Tues. :yay: Maybe I can get something done.

Evening ladies! Today's weather was atrocious! Didn't even make it to the teens and so so windy! Its like I went to sleep and woke up in Antarctica!

Still working on the closet, have a feeling that I will be for the rest of the week. Tomorrow night is the great bra showdown. I spoke to someone from a nearby women's shelter and she told me that as long as my pajamas and bras are in good shape, they'll take them. In fact, they'll take just about everything. So many just go there with the clothes they're wearing and have nothing else. So very humbling...

Last night about 3:30, my cell phone started ringing. I jumped out of bed, thinking it was bad news...but no, it was pranksters! The number came up "restricted" so although I tried to block it, they kept calling, and calling. FInally, I just silenced it and went back to bed. When I checked this morning, they had called 15 times! What is this, 1983?!

Marie, I wish I could cook well also. I'm just not so inspired. I'm more of a Sandra Lee type of renegade cook, just doctor up whatever I can find. That picture of the toilet is so funny! You have to tell us why its there. And I agree, those little mom-and-pop places are the way to go for yummy food!

Oh! I forgot to say that I'm really enjoying that book the Lightning Thief. Very fast paced and so cool to learn about Greek mythology like this. There are even some Greek myths included in there that I haven't heard of. So far the series is five books and I'm looking forward to them.

Well, Marie, that certainly is an interesting picture. I'd love to hear the story behind that.

MK, we've gotten a few prank calls lately but nothing like that. I probably wouldn't have been able to go back to sleep afterwards.

I am so tired of winter already and it's only the beginning of January. I'm not sure I'm gonna last. I keep telling DH to bug his boss for a job down in Florida so we can "tag" along for a week.

That shelter donation is a great idea. When our school has its PTA rummage sale, they donate all the toys and kids clothes to a local women shelter. I think that is fantastic!
1983 -:rotfl2: So true!!!! :rotfl2:

DS11 is listening to that book on CD and told me his class is reading it aloud. I had no idea what is was about. Just was happy he was listening to a book.

Okay... I really need to get off my butt and start excercising.

Good gravy... between that Free Dining stuff and Christmas I have gained 5lb in the last few weeks. And we still have one more "Christmas" to go as my friend and her family are coming over this weekend. I better tell her we're just having salad.

Watch out JOCA....if the weather persists like this, we may all tag along with DH on the job in Florida!

D&D...so cool that DS11 is reading the same book! Starting book 2 tonight. I'm totally sucked in!

Get into your closet and organize! My arms and back are so sore, I got a good workout with all the lifting and folding. You wouldn't think it would be so hard on the body, but it was and I stink from it.

Ooh, another holiday dinner. Yum. I haven't risked going to the grocery in a while, been seeing what's available in the freezer. Stocks are low though, I may have to venture out this week. But a fresh salad would be lovely!

I've found that with the cold weather, I'm just cooking more. Plus, no matter what, I just eat more in the winter. Summertime, there is just too much going on to have big meals. Make some pasta salad and throw some hot dogs on the grill and we are good to go.
