DC have pretty much everything...you may be able to convince someone by appealing to them in other ways. But I've done the Smiths by myself and had a perfectly wonderful time. You just have to make plans for the evenings--they usually close at 5 or 6.

im not one to do things like that by myself, esspecially traveling.

oh really? I don't mind it so much. I haven't done a solo trip to Disney, but I've thought about it. Last year, my SIL and nieces were meeting me there, so I spend the day at Universal alone. It wasn't bad at all! I didn't even mind riding the rides as a "single". I guess its just about personality. But if you do have an opportunity to go somewhere solo, I would hope you'd consider it. You just have to be careful and smart.

Evening everyone! Beautiful day outside today. Too bad it wasn't so beautiful inside. DD7 bought some Polly Pockets with her birthday money. DD8 decided that she really liked the one doll so she hid it. I just sent her to bed early with no dessert or no tv. I'm not too popular in my house right now.

I've never traveled alone either. I think I would like it though. Just the whole idea of being able to do what I want when I want.

Spent a few days in Europe on my own, between meeting friends. The only drawback was walking though Paris and not having anyone to say "look at that" to. It was great doing whatever I wanted though.

Ev, I felt the same way. But it was really nice to go at my own pace. I did have to ask strangers to take my picture for me, and they had that "that poor girl is by herself!" look.

jenn...if you can drive to Orlando, you can totally make a trip to DC! If you love museums, you should go...and take your time. I love the American museum the best. And the National Gallery. and the Hope Diamond at the Natural History! The National Geographic museum, the Newseum, and the Spy museum are great too--but you have to pay for those.

Living so close to DC I guess we tend to forget that for others it is considered traveling. I have to go to the DC area next week for work...ugggg! And to top it off it will be George Masons graduation. Double UGGG!

I have never traveled alone either. I like to do things alone locally like go to the beach (but most of the time DD19 comes along). I am not so sure I would like to travel alone though. Not for pleasure anyway. I do it for work (see above) but that is usually only a 3 hour drive to DC/Fairfax area.
