See there Kitty, you have the good sense to know that you can have pride in both! Many of us do have heritage from somewhere else. My dad's side was Czech. My mom's side English. Makes no sense why people would want to take up residency in this country and only retain pride in where they came from.

I totally agree. This country was built by immigration, and its part of our national identity. But there does need to be some assimilation once you choose to make this your home. Its wonderful to embrace our "otherness". I think about having my own kids and how they'll be half-Filipino, half whatever. It'll be part of their uniqueness.

And no, I will probably not marry another Filipino. I will not have two Filipino mothers! Once is enough! (Mom, I love you!)

My parents were bother immigrants...mom is Scottish, Dad was English...unfortunately everything here can get a little hung up on being politically correct.

I don't see an issue wearing the flag unless the kids did it intending to 'cause a problem with the hispanic kids...then they would definitely have been sent home to change.

Good morning my friends!

Just got back from running some errands. Went to an IEP meeting at DS9's school. He no longer needs speech so he is done. :woohoo:He still has a tendancy to not annunciate his words so I have to get after him but from the testing the school has done he no longer qualifies for speech. Now I need to meet with the school again for a 504 meeting in which we will work together to write up a plan so he can have help for his hearing loss. This way he is sure to get what he needs to help him hear during class.

Done talking about the kid.;)

M&N: I am so sorry to hear about your friend being on the cutting block. Please pass this along. A few of our teachers and paras have received pink slips but a few will probably be hired back depending on whatever the other teachers and paras plans are for next year.

D&D: Is Shameless going to be your theme song?

marie:Those flowers are so pretty! I wish I had a scratch n sniff screen.

Magi: It really annoys me when stuff like that gets out of hand.

JO: It was raining here earlier but now the sun is out. I think we're suppose to get more rain later tonight. As long as I can get my walk in after supper I don't care.

Hello to Ev, BatGirl (That's a funny! Oh and I like your batmobile:thumbsup2), LITC, Wendy, Mary, Sukie and anyone else I may have forgotten.

M&N :grouphug: for your friend, first the stroke then the layoff.

Pikester :thumbsup2 for your DS ending speech therapy. I had that at school, still not sure if it helped.

Re handing down clothes: I was the oldest in my family yet I got hand me downs from neighbors. :confused3 At least my sisters couldn't say I got all the new clothes.

The kids wearing the US flag were probably trying to antagonize the Hispanics. :sad2:

Going to be 89 and sunny today. :cool2:

SEE---I am multiquoting...I do not shamelessly run up the post count. I do it proudly!!!

Why is it becoming an offensive thing to wear the American flag? :sad2: Good gravy people. Stop worry about being offended.
LIFE IS TOUGH - GET A HELMET!!!!!!

LIFE IS TOUGH - WEAR HIP BOOTS!

I'm going to go shamelessly post smilies and BUMPS on the other game threads. :lmao:

(I told you she does it!...you were to ask how would I know??? HA!)

Glad ya'll like the flowers! Yes, they actually came from my garden. I can't lay claim to being much of a gardener. The real truth is that I just make sure to plant things that pretty much take care of themselves. Iris are mother nature at her best!

D&D you will be in that garden in no time!

Kitty, I keep wondering when real Americans are going to stand up for being discriminated against.

I just looked at mine and they are just starting to show their purple. I will cut some tomorrow it they are open more. I never enjoy them out beside the garage. Dumb me never thought to cut them and bring them inside! I can take mom a bunch for mom's day! Thanks for the idea.

The silent majority needs to open their mouths...but then we get in trouble!

Kate was in speech for a couple of years and it helped alot...now she has this apparatus in her mouth and we can't understand her again...which sometimes isn't a bad thing!!

Do they have the mic system where the kid's wear earphones and the teacher has a small transmitter...my nephew as well as a couple of kids at our school have them...it's amazing how little the mic transmitter is...it just gets past around from teacher to teacher throughout the kid's day.

Well the sun finally came out here but it's still pretty cold. Got the groceries done, shopped for food for the Bike rodeo the school is having on Sat., made dinner, had coffee with the Mom's, did a bit of packing and best of all the cleaning lady was here today..:cool1: Think it's time for a beverage...is it bad to drink alone...DH isn't home for another 15mins.

The bad news keeps rolling...all the library aides in my district do not have a job next year---budget cuts! This includes my friend who had the stroke! She has a wonderful attitude..put in in God's hands. She also needs insurance for now. District said she may qualify for some disability because of her vision. Hopefully she could also get her husband to get insurance from his job---hers was better so they were on hers. Anyway keep them in your prayers...it does help!

thats horrible!

tell me if this has happened to anyone else.. i wrote my checks last week, and mailed them out on tuesday, none have cleared my bank, i went to check on one of my accounts that i paid on and it says the check went through there, the payment showed up on fingerhut, but it doesnt show on my bank account...

I've had similar problems with online payments. It'll register with the company that the payment has been received, but the bank balance doesn't reflect it. Maybe the company hasn't officially withdrawn the funds yet?

Ev, I'll have a drink with you. I have a Cinemate theater system--$$$$! And it doesn't work. Granted, its three years old, but if it had been cheaper, I would have just chucked it and bought a new one. After dealing with tech support (very nice people btw) I was adviced to send it back for repair--another $100! After I find a box large enough, pack it well and lug it to UPS. I'm so frustrated right now.

On the other hand, my AIWA system in my bedroom is alive and kicking after 12 years...it still has dual cassette tapes!

it wasnt an online payment, it was a check i written and mailed out..

I understand that. What I'm saying is that maybe its a similar situation with the company reflecting a payment received yet it hasn't notified the bank yet.

Hey Kitty ~ Kerrie just posted on FB that the new baby's due date is Dec 9th...when all perfect people are born!! :goodvibes

Oh, Ev, we'll have to teach her so much about being a good Sag!

oohhhhh okay...

i was thinking it was just trying to lure me into a false sense of sercuity.. hehe

We can teach her/him so much...gotta run Matt is breaking boards at karate...I'll check back later.

Companies have different policies. Sometimes they submit all their payment information right away, at the end of the day, or several times a week. And then the bank has its own policies for processing. I've usually found that they're quick to take my money out of the account though!

Be safe, Ev. And tell Matt to kick some wooden butt!

Ev and I actually have the same birthday--December 9. So we share a birthday week with you jenn....
