Oh Kitty---my philosophy is go and eat it...enjoy it...and then it will be gone and not worry you anymore (until you make more that is!)

Hey D&D. I'm sure it's hard on you too--trying to figure out what to do. Poor guy. I think I would be afraid too. He knows you are there for him. Are there kids his age in the neighborhood who were affected too? Can he talk to them about it? How is the older one handling it? Is he understanding what the younger one is going though?
His friends in the neighborhood (boys) are telling him that they're not bothered or affraid at all. He asked me why they aren't scared too. I told him that they probably are but won't admit it so they look "tough".
DS12 appears fine although he is not as aware of things going on around him as DS8 is. I think his disability and autistic tendencies, made him more closed off to all that has been going on. If his behavior starts to go bad then I know something is affecting him. So far he has been playing with these 3 toads he found in the yard and that appears theraputic.

aw hugs, Prez. Its gotta be so difficult to try to enjoy outside and the summer, when it was Mother Nature that scared you in the first place. It feels like a bit of his innocence was lost, which makes me so sad. And the bad sleeping isn't good for him. A growing boy needs his sleep. So does Mom and Dad!
Yeah, it really breaks my heart for him to have to deal with this at such a young age. I too was hoping to keep his innocence a little longer.
Last night the only way I could get him to sleep was finally convincing him to "give his worries to God" and then we sat and thought of good memories to think of. Then he cuddled up w/ his enormous stuffed dog (about his size) and fell asleep.

The Philippines has this strange law that the adoptive parents have to live with the child for two years before bringing them home. They prefer to adopt in country, which is terribly sad since there are so many children not being adopted.

THe Chinese laws changed maybe two years ago. If the adoption process was already started by then, they would still qualify. Now you have to be younger than 35, married for at least 3 years, and some sort of income requirement. The regulations may change again, and I don't know how they apply to children with special needs, which I would be interested in.

I feel that my child will come to me how God deems possible. I also have a sister whose eggs are six years younger than mine. And Edward is a medical lab manager....so I do have some backup plans if my plumbing decides not to cooperate.

oh, M you are temptation itself!

D....I was thinking. Maybe if you got a weather radio that would alert DS if there was some bad weather in the area it would provide some comfort. Just the not knowing is what is messing with his head. If he had a way to know (or not know) he could have some peace of mind and try to sleep.

And yes, those boys are scared too. They just don't want to admit it. Tell DS I think they're pooper-heads.

God does love him and just wants us to give our worries over to Him...not that easy though is it? God must have something special in store for your little one to have given him such a tender heart. I believe everything we go through is for a reason---not that we always find out why. I am glad he does have you to talk to. It is natural to be afraid. The trick is to not let it control you. For a child used to being loved and protected, how to handle it has to be tough. It sounds like DS12 is handling it in his own way. Maybe seeing his brother acting naturally will help too.

So I had to share today's adventure. Number one, the skies opened up and it POURED. I was trying to leave Home Depot at the time, and trying to be healthier, I parked at the opposite end of the lot and walked in. So I was trapped in the store until it lightened up a bit. I was going crazy! Why couldn't I have been trapped in a more entertaining store, like Staples?

When I was finally set free, I saw that I had a voicemail. From Sears. Telling me that my order had arrived and I could pick it up anytime.

Now, I had already received a cancellation email a few days ago. Remember, I was triumphant that Sears had sent an apology gift card? Well, now what Sears trying to send me?

So I go to pick up my stuff. Stuff that I have no idea what it is. I tell the guy my name and he heads to the back. With a hand truck. I'm beginning to panic now. What did I do?

I thought I had ordered toaster ovens. These in fact: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00881005000P?prdNo=8&blockNo=8&blockType=#reviewsWrap only in red.

The boxes are enormous! Its a mondo-sized toaster oven. A toaster on steroids. But oh so cute. I got two for $15! One's going to be my sister's housewarming gift. One is for me. Red is pink's cousin, so I'm charmed.

I also got some JUly 4th tee shirts from Walmart for 50 cents. They just have a flag outlined in the shape of the US. My cousins will love it. They love anything that has USA on it.

And you still got the gift card? Great bargain...only Kitty could get it!:woohoo:

Good evening everyone. It's hot again...but at least we had some much needed rain. The corn was starting to look sad. I know several of my new plants died...I was not home to water them.

I got my Walter votes in right away. I'm signing up for 2 new screen names so I can vote 2 more times. How's he doing in the count. I just saw 1 baby on the first page that had a lot of votes but Walter is higher. I love Kermit too. My favorite was Fozzie Bear though---I could identify with him I guess!

Evening! Spent most of the early day cleaning and then the rest outside with Livvie. I'm trying to work on my tan but you would still need sunglasses to even glimpse at my legs. And now they want rain so I'm really out of luck.

DL55, I hope your mom's bruises start to fade soon. And I don't think I would have it in me to go help a tarantula. Ick...spider. :scared1: I have to get my courage up just to shoo the Daddy Long Legs that are in our house.

LITC, I remembered to vote again. I think the highlight of my day is logging on to vote and seeing Walter's pic. It just gives me the warm fuzzies.

MK, I drive Curt nuts when I do bring all my coupons when we go shopping. He just don't get how hard it really is to plan ahead and than hope that the store has what you need for the coupon. At those times, I send him to Home Depot for some relaxation therapy.

Thank you both (and everyone) for voting! I'm not really sure where he stands as far as vote count. They don't tell you that. I suppose I could go through and look at all the kids, but I don't think I want to!!

Good Morning,

Did I hear banana pudding? I love it along with banana cream pie - mmm!

I'm exhausted. Been having some rough nights. DS8 is really having a rough time when it gets dark and then at bedtime. Not only is he having bad dreams but I think night terrors.:sad1: The other night he ended up crawling into our bed around 2am scared to death. I'm convinced its not the storm, but the aftermath that is the worst. DS8 hasn't left my side for a min. unless I get him involved in a video game - like right now. Poor guy!
On a good note the blue tarps are slowly disappearing and new construction is starting to take its place.

Yeah baby Walter! We're still voting for you!!! :cool1:

Your poor kids. Especially DS8, and thank you!

Hey all, looks like I'm behind again.

DL ~ Hope your Mom is doing OK.

first Livvie, then the Prez and now Walter was to join in!! :thumbsup2

Ev, that sounds like a win-win situation all around. How far is the drive for you?

Selfishly, I would say visit the East Coast. We do have Hot Tamales here in every store. But Scotland sounds so awesome. I would love to go there one day before the kids are grown.

I'm about 4 hours from Detroit (if the border isn't backed up that is). Scotland came about because my sister and family are going this Sunday and DH got talking to her about my Aunts & Uncles getting up into their 80s and how we better go soon or it will be too late. He seems pretty serious about it. We are already looking into renting the same cottage that my sister will be staying in.

Sounds like the Michigan trip is really shaping up! Ev, don't mean to play devil's advocate here...but you should totally go. Like JO said, you know, to try the passports out. Its a great opportunity to have a great time and visit.

oh, and if you do go to Scotland, let me know what deals you find. As I've said, I've a girlfriend who lives in Edinburgh and I've yet to visit, but frankly, the cheapie in me doesn't know how to go about it. Was thinking maybe trading in my timeshare for a week, but since BF refuses to get a passport, it would be a waste...
Ok World Cup finals this afternoon: Spain versus Netherlands. I'm rooting for Spain, and this is entirely based on how attractive I find the players. Regardless, its going to be good!

I'm sure my passport gets enough of a work out with the cross border shopping...that area of Michigan depends on us coming and spending all our money.

Not sure about any bargains in Scotland...everything is pretty expensive. We want to fly into Glasgow which seems to be impossible from Detroit without several stopovers so we'll have to bite the bullet and fly out of Toronto (taxes are a killer) we will be staying with relatives and then renting a cottage on the Isle of Arran for a week.

Forget Spain the cute guys were on the German team...all about 20 years old!!

Just saw the dis results from the race...didn't do as bad as I thought. Need to check Yahoo.

I sucked for the second week in a row...D&D's son will be happy!!

Friends adopted a chinese girl with hearing problems who was also a little older (2 1/2 when they picked her up)...because they were willing to take a "non-perfect" child the adoption went through much quicker and easier. They looked at her as a liablilty who would spend her whole life in the orphanage. :sad2:

I just had a thought. John Stamos is good looking but unlucky in love, Jen Aniston also good looking also unlucky in love. I think they should get together!

John Stamos is going to be on Glee next season. So exciting!

I'm not a fan of Jennifer Aniston. Never have been--she was my least favorite friend. I just don't find her very appealing, although her body is amazing.

Hmmm not sure who my least favorite friend was. Maybe Monica, besides being obsessed with cleanliness, she never had much of a story line.

That's really true. My favorite was Chandler, with his sense of humor I'd know we'd get along really well.

You are so right on that one. I LOVE his sense of humor, and I love how well his character played into Joey's character.
Ahhh good times!

I know! I have started watching more sitcoms...which I haven't for a while. I think I was pouting too much after losing Frasier and Will and Grace. I watch Big Bang Theory (I love geeks!) and Modern Family, which is painfully funny.

Evening!

I've like John Stamos since his days on GH. But I can't picture him with Jennifer Aniston. She has always given off a snotty vibe to me.

And Pheobe was always my favorite.

Oh I used to love Will & Grace!
I occasionally catch big bang theory, and I love Modern Family. Although now that we don't have cable not sure how much of anything I will be seeing anymore.

I watched him when he was Blackie too! Its embarrassing how young I was watching GH. I haven't watched daytime soaps in years though. I imagine too much hasn't changed though.
